    Canine Behavior Review, Norway
Canine Behavior: A Photo Illustrated HandbookBeautiful book; really good quality paper and lovely cover. The book is a little larger than I had expected, quite heavy and stays open on the page you are reading if you lay it on a surface, which not all paperbacks will do. I prefer this type of paperback book to a hardcover one; it’s so much easier to hold and read. The contents of the book are up to my expectations, very informative, lots of new things to learn about canine behavior and, as the book says on the cover, well illustrated.I like shopping at Amazon.com; if it says something is in stock, it’s in stock, easy to search on the website, wide variety of products, never any trouble at checkout, my grand total is in norwegian crowns and the delivery is always trouble-free.Amazon has a great variety of books, I buy pretty much all my books here.

If you own a dog, BUY THIS BOOK.❤🐾
This book should come with dogs as a manual. I have a rescue that was 13 months old when he arrived. And had never been outside of a kennel in a sound proof shop. I felt like I was missing signs before he would lunge, nip, and knock over people. This book has helped me understand his signs. I can now do calming signs to help him when he is stressed.. Your probably going to think I am crazy but I clean houses and there is a dog that freaks out when I arrive to one of my house. I looked at him, turned my head and yawned and he stopped freaking out. I did this several times while I was in proximity of him. It worked!!! He is so much calmer now. This book opens the door to understanding what your dog is saying. If you have a dog, BUY THIS BOOK.

A Thousand Dogs are worth a picture
I buy many books as reference for my K-9 training courses. There are folks now who have college degrees that deal withanimal behavior and the reasoning for it’s interpretation.Anything that gives you any amount of new and well studied information will help you understand and interact with youfour legged family member, protector, or occupational necessity. This book provides a unique, interesting, and modern outlook to you canineYou can actually see the canine initiated signs that are the languageof the ages for the domesticated canine and many fall from the rootsgenus canis. A picture is better than forming an idea from a written description..Canine Behavior: A Photo Illustrated Handbook

    Long-Awaited and Very Helpful
I first heard this book was coming out electronically in full-color about a month ago and I couldn’t wait. I am reading it on the Motorola Xoom, so I’m fully able to enjoy the full-color pictures of the dogs and wolves. My favorite part is that the author uses the same dogs to illustrate different body languages. For example, you’ll see “Fido” with his ears back in a cautious position and then “Fido” with his ears on alert. Seeing the different positions displayed on the SAME DOG is critical. In many dog body language books I’ve read, they show alert years with a German Shepherd and submissive ears with a Golden Retreiver, for example. How are you supposed to learn the difference without truly comparing the carriage on the same animal? This author does an excellent job of showing many side-by-side comparisons.I would recommend this book and it’s a joy to read electronically.

    Pretty good book
The editing could have been better. They have captions for explaining pictures and the caption doesn’t match the action in the picture at all. The pictures are good. If all were in color it would be a several hundred dollar book so I’m fine with black and white. I know dogs pretty well and I learned from this book.

    Awesome teaching tool
As a dog trainer, this book is on my ‘mandatory’ reading list for new clients who have multiple dogs and are experiencing behavior issues. Most owners literally can’t see a problem coming – this book helps with that. The author is a renown assistance dog trainer, and also has several DVDs out on that if you’re interested. I recommend this book to everyone who will take the time to either special order it from their library or purchase it. If you own a dog, this is one of the best tools to help you evaluate how it’s feeling about it’s environment….although you will need to practice watching canine body language often, not just read this book and think you’ve got it all down.

    Extensive visual resource!
This is an exceptional book! This book is a complete pictorial reference for anyone wishing to understand canine behavior. With over 1,000 black and white photographs, this book clearly shows clues to decifering any dog’s behavior. I highly recommend this book. Please mark if you find my review helpful. Thank you so much!

    Great body language book
Any behavior you can think of or that that a dog does you can find in this book. Extremely helpful for those getting into dog training and those who work at a shelter. It even has a section where you can test your knowledge. Pictures are shown for each behavior.

If you want to understand canine behaviour (and that includes other canids – wolves, jackals as well as domestic dogs) this is the most comprehensively wonderful pictorial description. I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone interested in their dog’s behaviour, who cares about training and wants to be able to learn as much as they can about why dogs do the things they do. I am an artist as well as a dog owner, and it is an endless source of wonderful action shots that I turn to frequently when I am drawing animals. The written descriptions and references, too, are wonderful and this invaluable book is full of quotes both informative and uplifting.
