Great addition to your dog library!
This book was on my suggested reading list for my dog training certification and I can definitely understand why. It was a great resource and insight into many of the characteristics of dogs. Definitely recommend for anyone trying to get a handle on dog communication. Only dislike about this book is that it was kind of hard to get through, which is to be expected since it IS an encyclopedia.

    Good Dictionary…. A refeence book
This book is really a dictionary that may help to understand some of the words, terms used by some trainers, vets… However, if you are interested on undestanding in a deeper way some of the behaviors, and dog signals you must read other book. In general the book is not bad because it gives you a good idea of the terms and behaviors displayed by a dog. I do not think this is a good book for a typical owner that would like to understand his/her dog signals…

Most of us speak only pidgeon Dog
This is mostly based on wolves, but really does apply to dogs. It is very rare that an attack or negative behavior comes out of nowhere. The dog tells you – we just don’t know how to hear it. It really is a worthwhile book, especially if you have children. Children especially should understand what dog talk means.

  9. Ernesto Mercado

Excellent book , highly recommended for dog owners who like to understand dog behavior

  10. Puppet

I have been looking for a book like this for so long, that not only explains in everyday language the different types of canine behaviours, but is so well supported by drawings that are self-explicit and easy to understand. As a dog behaviourist myself I feel it is important to be able to show the different stages of various behaviours, especially to children and dog-owners, to give them a different view on why their dogs reacts to certain situationins that are not so apparent to humans.. Again, thank you Roger for this excellent, and needed, work of art.
