  1. Life With Dream

An Essential Guide for Raising a Happy and Well-Behaved Dog!
I recently finished reading Zak George’s Dog Training Revolution, and it has been incredibly helpful in raising my new puppy, Dream. This book is a fantastic resource for both new and experienced dog owners, offering practical advice and compassionate training techniques.Zak George’s approach to dog training is rooted in positive reinforcement, which I really appreciate. The book emphasizes building a loving and trusting relationship with your pet, rather than using harsh methods. This philosophy resonates with me, and it’s been wonderful to see how effective it is with my dog. The tips and techniques are easy to understand and implement, making the training process enjoyable for both me and Dream. The book covers everything from basic commands and house training to more advanced behaviors and dealing with common issues like barking and chewing. What I love most is how Zak breaks down each topic into manageable steps. It feels like having a personal dog trainer guiding me through each stage of my puppy’s development.Another great aspect of this book is the emphasis on understanding your dog’s needs and communication. Zak provides insights into canine behavior that have helped me better interpret Dream’s actions and respond appropriately. It’s made a huge difference in how we interact and bond.Overall, Zak George’s Dog Training Revolution is a comprehensive and compassionate guide to raising a well-behaved and happy dog. Whether you’re a first-time dog owner or looking to refine your training techniques, this book is an invaluable resource. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to build a loving and effective training relationship with their pet.

Best dog training book I’ve seen
Dogs have a lot to teach us about unconditional love, play, learning to enjoy the small things in life, and not holding grudges. We also have a lot of things to teach our pet, but how can we learn to effectively communicate and train our pup without losing patience? Each dog learns a little differently, but in this book Zak George provides a not only humane way to train, but a way that succeeds. He gives detailed, easy step-by-step training techniques that not only train the dog, but the human as well. The layout is well done and easy to follow and easy to navigate when you’re wanting to work on specific skills. The Kindle edition almost seems a little better, since it has the video links right in the book, but links are easy to find even with physical edition.Outcome So Far:I started watching his Youtube videos when I got two puppies and this book goes into a little more detail on his topics plus a few additional ones. Since adopting his training tips from this book as well as the videos, I’ve seen leaps and bounds in communication with my two dogs. Admittedly, mine came kennel trained, are obsessed with grooming (teeth brushing, fur brushing), loving bath time, ignore cars, and haven’t learned all the tricks he teaches yet (since we haven’t gotten to all of them) so I can’t attest to all the techniques. The ones I’ve tried, however, have done wonders. They sit, they stay consistently (even from far distances and with distractions), His technique for getting them to speak was the only one that worked (I tried about 6 or 7 others out there before I found his). His leash training technique got my dogs walking without pulling in less than 2 weeks and they’re 5 months old. Until I read his section on fetch and teaching a dog how to play Frisbee, I couldn’t get my puppies to play fetch. They no longer puppy bite, steal, and almost have no jumping down. They’re doing a mostly consistent fetch and it’s only been a few weeks. Based on other training techniques I’ve looked at, they’re about where most people expect a 9 months to 1 year old dog to be at. They’re by no means all the way trained, but, as mentioned before, I haven’t got all the way through the book yet. The basic skills, however, are pretty close to meeting expectations and they perform them better than some of my neighbor’s dogs. I’m excited to see where they end up after they’ve graduated from learning all the tricks in this bookI would definitely recommend this book to anyone with a puppy or adult dog who needs help learning the ropes.

  3. Katmandoo

    Comprehensive book
we have a puppy and this book was very helpful in giving us ideas for training her. I have good things to say about the book but whoever packaged it at Amazon sent us a book that looked like a box cutter was used on it. The first 5 pages are cut down to the middle of the page. I am very disappointed in Amazon and the packaging of this book.

    I love this book!!
When I started looking for dog training books because we had a new puppy on the way, I was so happy to find that training techniques have started moving in the direction of positive reinforcement instead of the “Alpha Dog” approach. I read 3 different books on training; 1 using the old style of training (How To Be Your Dog’s Best Friend by The Monks of New Skeet), 1 using the new (about 300 pages my dog trainer sent me), and Zak’s.The only one I actually enjoyed reading was Zak’s. It’s a really easy and fun read, as many of the sections in the book have a YouTube video to accompany the description. This is wonderful if you’re not much of a reader, as the videos are a little break from the book. I’m a big reader myself, but when it comes to learning to do something, I’m very visual. So the videos are great, and Zak is fun to watch!! You can tell he really has a passion for training and loves the animals so much. Also, his approach WORKS!! We have a new puppy. Henri, a mini Australian Shepherd. At 3.5 months old, he already knew “sit”, “lie down”, “roll over”, “look at me”, “shake”, “stand”, and “stay”. Now he’s 6 months and we’ve added “leave it”, “high five”, “bow”, “up”, and “off”. We’re working on “sit pretty”, sitting and staying until released – any time we’re going outside, and his recall. I’ve used Zak’s approach for all of these commands. It’s so fun to see him learning and enjoying himself at the same time!! Now I just need Zak to write another book with with more advanced concepts! There are still a ton of videos on YouTube I reference when I need them, but I love having a guide like a book to work through the steps.

    Good resource
There is a lot of information in this book, including choosing the right dog and preparing to bring them home; basic training necessities, troubleshooting problems, etc. I looked up some specific immediate needs, such as “mouthing”, but am now reading it cover to cover.

  6. KBee

This is a great book and I am finding it super helpful for training my puppy. He gives simple steps to follow amd they work. It was recommended to me by a friend who used to train dogs.

I had previously read a book from Cesar Millan which I really liked, but it made me thinking that dogs should always be submissive to anything I wanted them to do. Zak’s book has a very friendly approach that I believe can create a bond between the dog and their owner, and it’s what I’ll be following from now on. My dog is 9mo old, I’m with him for 3 weeks now and he already does lots of things at home and in low distraction environments (sit, down, stand, take a bow, fetch, take it, leave it). I’m starting frisbee, but still getting their interest on it. I also recommend sympawtico training, they have great resources.

What an amazing book and what an amazing trainer Zak is. The book is so simple and well written. Easy to understand as well. I just went gliding over the pages and did not even realise that I came so far. The best part is all the training tips given here have an accompanying Youtube video. And unlike other books you can just start reading any section that feels relevant to you for training your dog at the moment (but best to start from the beginning). I just started teaching my 10 week old pup and he is doing so well. Will surely try to teach my older dogs too.The book covers every possible aspect a pet parent would or should know and not just the training tips. I am re-reading and revisiting the pages, it’s that great and helpful.
