Dog can slide under
If I stay in the same area with my dog, she respects the gate. If I go on the other side out of sight, she is able to slide under it.

Good choice for a gate
This is a great gate to keep our pupoy from going to the basement. The gate opens quickly which makes a loud racket if it slips from your hand. The locking feature is nice to prevent the puppy pushing her way under the gate. I would recommend to other. The install seemed fairly easy.

We tried two other baby/dog gates and were feeling hopeless until we received this. Not only is it sturdy and easy to use many times per day: the construction is fabulous. You can take it off the track easily and put it back on as needed which really impressed me. This is a fantastic item. One of the best I have ordered in a long time!

TLDR: If youâre considering this gate, this version is fine and will do the job. Its consistent in terms of quality with the others I have reviewed. My recommendation is to shop around for the best price and to make sure that the one youâre ordering is the right height, length, and color for you.Review: I have reviewed over 2 dozen nearly identical baby/dog gates sold by different sellers on Amazon. All of my reviews are basically the same because theyâre made by a handful of manufacturers. After inspection, I can confidently say that the Petstars “Retractable Baby Gate, Mesh Dog Gate or Mesh Baby Gate 55″ Wide 33″ Tall Safety Child or Pet Gate for Indoor Outdoor Stairs, Doorways, Hallways, Deck” is pretty much the same, in terms of quality and standard design, as all of the others that I have reviewed as a part of the Amazon Vine Program.Overview: This sort of gate is best used as an enclosure for anything other than a regular door â think wider spaces like the gap between the kitchen counter and the wall, a wide hallway, blocking off half of a room (for wider versions of this gate â make sure to get your measurements right). I recommend standard pressure gates for regular doors, especially if you need a gate that you canât just step over, because these are inconvenient to use. This Petstars gate is pretty tall and it would be difficult to step over it, which makes it especially difficult to operate, which I discuss below.General Summary of Operation: All versions of this gate operate by a pulling mechanisms, sort of like a projector screen. It starts out wrapped up in a roll and locks into place when pulled out. It attaches to the opposite wall (or whatever) via hooks. Its extremely difficult to operate, especially to open again with one hand. While the hooks for opening the gate are on one side of the wall, the latch for unlocking the gate are typically on the completely other side. This latch has to be pressed in order to loosen the gate enough to open it because it pulls taught when locked into place. When unlocked, it stays taught and needs to be tugged on again to be released. The (un)lock mechanism has to be released while pulling the gate loose with the other hand, otherwise it just tightens back up again. Once loosened, you get a flappy gate that you can then unhook. You then have to press the unlock button to release the gate and roll it back up (unless you want the gate to just lay on the ground flopped over. The release back into the roll is typically, well, violent, so you need to be prepared to control it (and have a strong grip) if you donât want the thing ripping away.Overall, its extremely inconvenient to operate, but its also the only real option on Amazon. Keep in mind that this sort of gate has to be installed by drilling. Thereâs no good alternative. (I tried attaching, in various ways, with zip ties and it did not work especially well, but could do the job if youâre okay with something a little flimsier.) This gate is as good as the rest I have reviewed, so, while annoying, its as good as it gets. The gate itself seems pretty durable. It isnât rigid enough to keep a small animal, like a cat, from crawling underneath, but it will probably deter a medium sized dog that isnât determined to crawl under or to jump over.
