    Works…could be better
I like it…it’s affordable…but could have been built better. I bought this for our 16 yr old Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Teddy Bear. He’s a senior, 85+ lbs, blind, and arthritic…all of which is causing him to have a hard time getting up the back of the Tundra truck bed unassisted. Teddy initially tried using a couple 2x4s as a ramp, but this was too much for him and too difficult for us to haul the boards safely with him in the bed. The XL length size of this ramp decreases the angle from the height of the bed to the ground. The telescoping feature of this ramp allows us to easily keep the length for him to walk up easily into the bed while also collapsing to an easily managable size for hauling in the bed while secured to the bed wall with cargo straps. To get him accustomed to using the ramp, I laid the ramp over the five steps to our side entry door for about a month. That forced him to have to climb the ramp to get inside and out every day. Now, he’s still a little hesitant using the ramp, but he doesn’t put up a fight since he needs it to get in the truck bed…and he certainly loves every truck ride. As for the construction, it’s not as durable as I had hoped. Everyone has to remember that there is no good onboard fastener that will keep this ramp in the collapsed position…it’s too flimsy and will easily break with frequent use, and there is a potential of needing stitches to fingers if the ramp is not controlled to slowly open. I recommend getting a separate cargo strap to hold it in the collapsed position and slowly extending the ramp flat on the ground once the separate cargo strap is removed. Once locked in the extended open position for use, it appears secure. As for the nonskid material glued to the ramp…it’s flimsy. Teddy is 85 lbs…and he has claws no one wants to trim because even the trainers are afraid of grooming him in his senility. So, the nonskid surface, being exposed to the elements for a month as well as Teddy’s untrimmed claws and our pit bull’s trimmed claws…well, they did a number on the nonskid covering. It’s still intact…mostly. Therefore, we will go to the local hardware store for replacement nonskid paper when the original no longer provides traction. Remember that this ramp does have a weight limit of about 300 lbs. Do not attempt to walk on this with your 100+lb pet or you risk breaking the ramp with you and your pet on it…potentially hurting you both…unless you are 100 lbs yourself! My 180 lb husband initially walked on this with our 85 lb Teddy, and the ramp physically bowed in the middle with their combined weight of 265 lbs. until they got off of it. So, I recommend allowing only your pet to walk on it…after all, it is a ‘pet’ ramp. So do I still recommend this ramp…yes! As long as you are aware of its shortcomings and safety issues, you won’t have a problem using this ramp for your large, furry family member…well, we haven’t had a problem yet. It has definitely improved my Teddy Bear’s quality of life at this end of his life span…don’t know how much longer he’ll be with us, but he’s definitely enjoying his senior years with this ramp easing his mobility onto and off the truck…allowing him to enjoy truck rides safely again.

2019 Ford F250 Superduty Crew Cab
Got this for my 3 year old Greyhound to save his joints from jumping in and out of the truck. Trained him first with the ramp on the floor first. He walked comfortably back and forth four times. Inclined it on the sofa and he figured it out immediately. Time to put it on the truck. The first time he walked up nice and easy. Then about halfway up he clenched his paws and pretty much used his nails to walk the rest of the way. Zoom in on the pic to see the nail scratches on his first attempt up the ramp. Just so you know his nails are cut and drummel on the 18th of every month at the groomers. He did great going down the first time. To my surprise he came down off the back seat and onto the ramp easily and continued to walk down. Key words: walk…not run. If they run on it a dog will use their nails and scratch it. Second time he went up the ramp he was more confident. He’s been doing great with it and hasn’t put another scratch on it. Makes me wonder about other dog owners that complain about scratching how well they maintain their dogs nails or if they let their dog run on it. The ramp is very well built. It could be a little lighter since this is for dogs and not for human use. For my truck I do have to put it at a very slight angle. This is so minor as the ramp stays where it needs to be evenly distributed without wobbling. The grip surface is like sandpaper which isn’t that bad since dogs walk on tougher surfaces more than walking up and down this ramp. If it’s such a concern, there’s this great product called Mushers for your dog pads. Which I apply all the time. So there shouldn’t be any complaints on the grip surface. Additional add on changes that would be nice would be to add another handle on the opposite side. Also another closing button or latch on the opposite end. Overall, it’s a great product. Thank you!

My dogs no longer hurt their old bodies jumping from the SUV
I love this is light weight, 20 lbs. I love that it can carry 300 lbs, although we don’t need that much. I love that it has a handle & strap. I love that the part the animal walks on has a kind of scratchy surface, slightly resembling fine sand paper, so the pet doesn’t easily slide. We have had it a couple months. It’s the only reason my dogs can still go for a ride in the car, which they love, & have done nearly every day, ears flapping in the breeze, excited smile on their faces.I am 71, and can manage this thing despite respiratory problems which makes my endurance far less than just a few years ago. The outer working part is made of aluminium, and one part slides under the other. One can snap the snap which would make it easier to carry by the handle if necessary. I never snap it cause I almost always leave it in the back of my Enclave, which fits nicely with both seats down so the dogs have the entire back with room to sit by the windows. The only problem I anticipate is it seems to be slightly harder to slide open & shut, as if it needs waxed or simething. Kind of fearful of gumming up the works by trying wax or oil. Its aluminum on aluminum which seems to be tending toward not being as easy. I’ll let you know if I find a solution, but it isn’t really a problem just yet.. just anticipating. Also, the rough surface is still rough, but I could see it becoming less rough/more slippery over time & use. I got the longest ramp cause my dogs are big, one over 100 lbs, and she has ligament & arthritic pain, & her leg will completely give out. The smaller dog (by 30 lbs) limps occasionally. It doesn’t make sense to reduce an angle not enough to benefit the pet..so the longer the ramp, the easier/less steep the angle the animal must traverse. Also, it took a few days of light training to get the dogs to use the ramp because Moxie indicated “this is dumb..I can jump” and Daisy-doodle was afraid of it, but after a few days they use it without problems. I have to reinforce Moxie by chaining her to leash in back seat while I open the door & put out the ramp, because she WILL jump from the end and she’s an old dog. Daisy-Doodle is generally a good girl & will wait if I tell her “Back-off” while putting the ramp out. This ramp allows my dogs to maintain their usual happy way of life despite their age directly limiting their activity now. If it breaks, I’ll buy another, but i don’t see that happening. It’s sturdy. If there was a way to improve it, it may be making the long one, (we have), a bit wider too, cause DD is tall, wide, wobbly and heavy. But keeping the ability to easily manage the size & weight may be a factor. Also some upkeep advice on how to keep the aluminum easily sliding within itself would be helpful.. how do I maintain that? Should I use pledge or oil on it, or would that mess it up? I am happy she can & will use it, & consider it one of my bedmst purchases for my pooches.9/13/22 Update. Ly biggest pupper, Daisy Doodle passed away. The ramp stillworks well. Sometimes positioning it differently helps the tracks slide. I haven’t put any grease, polish or oil on it. I’ve gotten so I can get it in & out of the car pretty quickly. When Doo was at her sickest she couldn’t get up the ramp. I discovered parking at the bottom of my driveway which is down a hill and also has a curb, with my car in street level below the curb, backed up so the ramp is lower in the car than further up the drive, lessened the angle of the ramp so doo was able to walk up it. I miss her terribly but she had a good happy life, which is some small consolation. Moxie is still managing the ramp quite well, although is getting up there in years and mentation, some days better than others. But she can still enjoy smiling out the window with the breeze in her face. Now I drive real slow up & down the streets so she can see the younger dogs out with their families walking, too. The non slip surface they walked on is still quite adequate. Sometimes when I try to pull the ramp out, the top part kind of hooks on the mat I have covering the carpet in the back of the enclave. The trick is lifting the back up by pressing the part by the door in a way which frees the innermost side. Putting the ramp in the car, I first put the front in the car a few feet back, then kind of toss the rest in with the innermost part elevated while the outermost part is lower. You’ll figure out what best works for you. I am just delighted my dogs got to enjoy their lives, and the ramp allowed that to happen. They sure love riding in the car.Update Oct 19,2022:Still sliding ok. No additional problems with it sliding within itself that I worried about earlier. This is a really great product snd I’m so glad I was able to keep my puppers happy with their car rides!

I love this ramp. I used to have a plastic ramp by PetGear which I’ve had for almost a decade and held up very well, but one of my dogs is 210 pounds so I needed to get something sturdier with a higher weight limit. I use this 4-6 times a day (depending how many times we go out) and it’s the best thing I’ve ever bought. The sandpaper gives a really nice grip, rainy days are not an issue either. I like the raised edges as well so the dog can’t easily fall off. This thing is tough as nails. (i’ve had a couple of other ramps and stairs in the past, but this one is the crème de la crème.) It’s kind of heavy for a weakling like me, but I don’t care about that, it makes me feel very confident allowing my 210 pound dog to walk on it!! So it better be heavy, I don’t want some cheap little plastic light thing bending under my dog’s weight if you know what I mean. Best purchase I’ve ever made for my dog and I’m always getting compliments on it wherever I go. People take a picture of it to see what brand it is etc. By the way, at the end video I Zoom in on the hole we drilled at the top so that we can clip it into our car because our bumper protector goes under the ramp to protect our bumper which makes the ramp unsteady. But truthfully even without the bumper protector, I’ve always drilled a hole in our ramps so that I can clip it into our car. (We once had a dog fall off a ramp because it came loose from the car bumper and he ended up dislocating his shoulder. Very upsetting!) So if you never want that to happen, drill a hole and clip it in to be safe.

Bought this ramp because the last ramp I bought snapped although technically it should have taken my dog’s weight. This is very different – a sturdy ramp which takes the weight of my 60kg Leonberger without any flex or bending which has given him great confidence when using it. The surface is a bit like an emery board so there’s no slipping at all. It’s reasonably heavy for a woman to manoever around but very doable and the handle helps a lot. I like the fact it extends out quite a long way so the gradient is never too steep. We practised with the dog walking on it on the floor at first with a treat at the end and there was no problem when transferring to the car. Highly recommend for large dogs.
