Waste of money
I bought this book because I wanted to learn techniques on proper use of prong collars. My 2yo GSD has high prey drive and every time he sees a bunny, he tries to catch it. When a 100 lbs. dog lounges or tries to run after a squirrel or a bunny, you are going to have back problems, elbow problems, or both.We went to three 8-week training sessions, but none of the positive reinforcement methods work for him, he just gets too excited.I started to follow W.R. Koehler method, and it is working great. But instead of a choke collar (recommended in the book), I decided to use prong collar. My concern was that I wasn’t using the collar properly. When I found this book, I was intrigued, especially by a section called “What if my dog is leash aggressive towards other dogs,” and decided to spend $10 on the Kindle edition.Well, what a disappointment…31% of the book is the introduction — total waste of money21% Chapter 1 — talking about how to select and use the prong collar15% Chapter 2 — How to condition your dog. If you ever (as most dog owners do) had to condition your dog for crate or clicker, you already know this stuff22% Chapter 3 — that’s the core of the book. The problem is it is only teaching one aspect of dog training — heeling on the leash. The author offers three techniques — 180 turn, arm correction, and full body stop correction — and that’s it.21% is dedicated to FAQ. Did I get my question answered? No, even though this is in the contents, the answer is “this subject is outside the scope of this book” and I’ll be writing another book.Overall, I think 1.99 is what this book is worth. If you want a better method for training your dogs, look up W.R. Koehler books on Amazon

It was a review for me.
Didnât add much info that I hadnât already learned – except a way to hold the leash for on hand walking.
Willie –
very basic, and only for leash walking a pet
This has only extremely basic info for inexperienced pet dog owners wanting to teach loose leash walking on their own, using a prong collar. It does not contain any useful information for anyone who is at all familiar with a prong collar. Some of the info is wrong, or at least debatable. One session with an experienced trainer would be more useful.

Despicable.
Aversive/pain-based training- ie, prong and shock collars- besides being abusive and physically harmful, have been scientifically proven to do nothing but CREATE fear-based aggression, anxiety, distrust, and maladaptive behaviors, due to their trauma. STAY AWAY from any individual, who calls themselves a ‘trainer’, who supports and advocates abusive and aversive techniques, such as using a prong or shock collar. They are NOT actual trainers. They are trying to profit from your naivete. If your dog is pulling on a leash, simply use a front ring harness, such as a Sensation Harness or an Easy Walker. Pain is NOT required.

Prong (and choke) collars are EVIL & WRONG !
The use of prong and choke collars is just wrong ! Take some time to establish a rapport with your companion, define who the âalphaâ is and, if needed, get HUMANE, PROFESSIONAL advice or assistance. Iâve never, NEVER, in over 50 years of owning Weimaraners, had to resort to torture to get a dog to do what I wanted it to doâ¦and Weimaraners are well known for being large, hyperactive and rambunctious for their protracted puppyhood (about 2 years or soâ¦). Be their companion and their friend, but remain in charge. If they respect you they will follow and obey you, without protest, Love them, rub them and give them treats alwaysâ¦but especially after a really great session! You canât go wrong if the dog WANTS to please you and knows HOW to do it. Enriching for all !
