    Great product
bought this for our Golden Retriever to keep her in the yard and from jumping on people. Works very well, in fact sometime all I have to do is pick it up and she responds without me even having to use it.

    Life changer!
This w collar is the best thing I’ve ever purchase for my dog. EVER.He is an 11 year old pitbull that has never had a good recall. He is the kind of dog that knows his commands, is obedient on leash, in our fenced yard, and obedient in the house. BUT the moment he can escape, he will! He has been this way since he was 3 months old. He will dart past, rush, and use any open door as an opportunity to run. He will run for miles and hours chasing squirrels, birds, cats, etc. and will quite literally ignore all attempts to recall. Now that he’s a senior dog, these escapes happen much less often, and he will eventually give up after he’s being chased for a while. However, we are getting a new puppy and really didn’t want her to learn from his bad behaviors.I researched for a few weeks before we decided on this brand. I figured if hunting dogs could be trained with this thing, so could my boy.Y’all, I can’t believe what this collar has done to my dog! Here are the PROS:-remote is easy to use and fits well into my hand-having tone, static, and vibrate are great options and avoid unnecessary static corrections as he responds well to tone by itself. Most times I don’t even need to press the tone button.-I use static levels 1-2, and he’s totally responsive.-range is phenomenal. Can go from one end of a park to the other and have control over him.-He no longer darts out the door.-I can walk him on a leash without his prong collar.-he can walk outside with me off leash and comes as soon as I say his name.-he can be in the run with our chickens and doesn’t even flinch when they come near.-on walks he is rarely, if ever distracted or interested in chasing ANYTHING-As soon as I take the collar off of the charger in the mornings. He is at my feet wagging his tail and waiting for me to put it on. He’s a happier dog now that he has so much more freedom! Now for the Cons:-despite following the collar adjustment guidelines, my boy developed sores on his neck. I would suggest checking regularly in case any develop. He was wearing his collar for long durations because I didn’t want him to escape and then not have the collar on to reinforce my training, thus destroying all of our progress. Once he became more reliable and trustworthy to respond to his recall, I now leave the collar extremely loose(so he can at least hear the tone), and adjust tighter when we go outdoors.-both collar and remote have to be charged nightly, or you risk it not being fully charged. I made the mistake of skipping one night. It worked the next morning, but was dead that evening when I needed it to be working. I can miss a night here or there, but if we will be out all day(using the collar),I have to charge it in the morning to be safe. I would recommend charging as soon as you remove it.-personally, the lanyard is uncomfortable hanging around my neck. I would much rather prefer there were a clip on the remote so that I can attach to my waistband.-there are times that I press the tone button, and it’s delayed in relating the beep. I notice this more often if I skip a charge the night before.-vibration doesn’t seem to have an affect on my dog as far as being a correction.-using this device requires already having a dog who understands basic obedience commands. You can’t just strap it on and start using static and expecting your dog to be an angel.*In the wrong hands, this collar can do more harm than good. It requires research and technique to properly train with e-collar*Overall: research e collar training techniques, be patient, and enjoy. Highly recommend!!

    Reliable and easy to use
Easy to use and reliable,Helped add more value in recall when deer and other wildlife were present as well as preventingIssues with horses and chickens after a few trainings with collar

  4. Alyse

    Good, but battery doesn’t last.
I love that our pup responds just to the beeping sound- no need to shock her. However, make sure you charge it every night, because it will die the moment you actually need it and your dog will sense it and start causing mayhem.

It doesn’t get any better than this!
When you get a product, like this, that performs even better than advertised (extended range) you feel good about your purchase. It was easy to sync. The tone, buzz and shock work loud, clear and effectively. It’s light weight, not light or small enough for a really small breeds, but great for breeds like beagles and on up.Most impressive, it’s not just the product that excels. The customer service is beyond excellent.Case in point: after less than 5 weeks of purchase my dog chewed the transmitter beyond recognition. I knew the product wouldn’t be warranted nor did I expect it to be for such an event, but called SportDog hoping to avoid the cost of an entire new system by purchasing just the transmitter.I explained the situation to the CS rep (Samantha) who jokingly said “… seems like your dog has good taste, we’ll send you another unit free of charge…”. It doesn’t get any better than that!(I may be out-of-line here, but I’d like to add it’s a great tragedy when a device such as this is used without the utmost consideration for your dog. I use the shock portion infrequently and only at higher levels for such things as shown aggression or when the dog ventures into a dangerous situation (like traffic) and needs to return, immediately. I NEVER use this as punishment, only to get the dogs attention at the lowest setting after the tone and buzz don’t do it. To each his own, these are just my thoughts and are not meant to tell you how to use this device or treat your pet). Thank you.

Stopped Working Within a Week of Use
This is my second Sportdog collar and my first negative Amazon review. This collar is junk. I expected as much when I took it out of the packaging to see the flimsy plastic connectors on the charger, but I hoped for the best regardless. After a week of light use, the light on the remote is staying on and the collar no longer responds to the remote.I previously owned a Sportdog 825X that I purchased in 2020. The 825X collar lasted a bit longer, still less than two years before it also stopped responding to the remote. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and purchased another. I unfortunately will be returning this one and it will be my last purchase from Sportdog. As much as I hoped this would work, and as well as my dog responded to it, a collar costing over $100 should not malfunction within a week of use. Additionally, my previously owned 825X should have lasted a lot longer than it did given the price, but I suppose that is water under the bridge at this point.Perhaps the higher end Sportdog collars are more durable and long-lasting. If you are considering buying this collar, I would encourage you to look elsewhere. They seem to have largely positive reviews so they must be doing something right, but they have been a letdown for me thus far.

[BEWARE !! INSANELY STRONG SHOCK SIMULATION !! PLEASE CONSIDER CAREFULLY !! YT- 100]Firstly, I would like say that it sure looks dam good and have amazing built quality. However, AT LEVEL 1!! THE SHOCK IS WAY TOOOOO STRONG !!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s insane !! Deceptive advertising claiming suitable for dogs from 8 pounds. It will SEND THAT DOG FLYING !!I’ve a 27 pounds French Bulldog, when I first tried it, he seems fine when I send a static shock for correction (little head tilt/confused look). I then thought it was fine at level 1 and went ahead with trimming the collar to fit him nicely. When I refitted and put on him. (Probably this time the two prongs has direct contact with him skin, “correct fit”). The next static simulation activated causes HIM JUMP AND YELP IN SHOCK !!!!!!! LET ME REMIND YOU GUYS AT LEVEL 1 !!!! LEVEL 1 !!!!Of course I had to investigate, I tried it on myself (Wrist) IT WAS WAYY TOO STRONG, CAN’T IMAGINED IF IT WAS ON MY NECK ! PLEASE DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS PRODUCT IF YOUR DOG WEIGHT IS LESS THAN 50pounds or maybe even 100pounds.I bought this product hopping to further enforce certain training that I had done with him previously with leash, hopping a leash free dog. NEVER DID I KNOW I BOUGHT A PUNISHING TOOL / TORTURE TOOL ! I’m extremely disappointed, all those false claims and verification. Seriously 8 pound dog can handle this? MADNESS !THE DESIGN TEAM OF SPORTDOG, PLEASE KINDLY REVIEW THIS PRODUCT AS ITS JUST WAY TOOO STRONG EVEN AT LEVEL 1 ! THE DECEPTIVE ADVERTISEMENT TOO !! NEVER WILL IT BE SUITABLE FOR A DOG AT 8POUNDS AS ADVERTISED ! Let’s not talk about my experience with their customer service!Since I’ve already shorten the collar, I guess I’m unable to return this product! Please consider carefully, it’s really strong, can’t imagine at level 8 what it would do to any dog. NEVER CONSIDER THE YT-100S I THINK THAT WILL SEND YOU FLYING TOO! Beware guys, peace.

I bought an earlier model for a friend and it’s much nicer with the separate button for vibration. The new one is a bit annoying as you can’t leave the shock level setting you have to turn the dial back and forth to get to vibration. It’s still a very very good product the 50$ ones have a louder beep which could be a nice upgrade but for stubborn dogs. This is the one you need and you won’t regret it. Also make sure you turn the collar off between uses or it dies very quick.

Owned a sport dog collar years ago and always said I’d get another one for my next dog! I cheaped out on one months ago just to see if it would work but unfortunately he was just too stubborn and it didn’t work on him at all. I have a one year old black lab who absolutely adores everyone so he will bolt to anyone to say hi. He’s also a jumper so I ordered this one to deter some bad habits and it’s awesome! We wanted something with a longer range for when we are out at the cabin and in the woods. My dog responds well on level 1 static but responds to the beep. The only thing I didn’t like was the set up process.. it was a bit lengthy to figure out but that doesn’t take away stars. Wish it also came with a clip for the remote like other models but the lanyard is good too!
