Mounted It To A Sliding Screen Door
Our dog is Doberman – Lab mix, so she is tall with a deep chest. We tried a door that was for a ‘large dog’ that could be installed in a screen for a sliding glass door. Many times she knocked the dog door off, and a few times she dislodged the screen door. I found this one which is about the same width, but taller. Though it mentions screen doors, the minimum door thickness is greater than a screen thickness. I thought I would try this anyway and added weather stripping to the inside of both door halves, resized the hole in the screen, and assembled it to the door. Works great. Added benefit is that the door is more secure than the last one and has brushes around the door to better keep the bugs out. She has knocked the door partially off its track a couple times, but that has only occurred when she spots a squirrel and her aim for the door is a little off, but the dog door has remained in tact. I would suggest that the manufacturer make a kit for sliding door screens.

Great Quality Product!
I am very pleased with this doggy door as it is made of good material and is built well. I like the size as well. It was easy to install and I know itâs going to last a long time.

Great door- but read this if you live somewhere it gets below 30 degrees
I bought this doggy door for my 3 Labrador retrievers so they can take themselves outside. This was the best door I could find without spending $5-600+. It seems pretty well made and durable. I did have to return the first one as the corner got bent during shipping.I live in PA – so weather here is mostly cold and rainy. It was important to me to find a door that was energy efficient. Thereâs nothing energy efficient with a hole in the side of your house- but you try to find the closest thing to it. I had my dad who is a contractor install the door for me so I canât attest to the installation part, but will report there was minimal swearing and only took about an hour to complete. Extra insulation was padded around the frame of the door and framed into the wall so it wonât budge over time and use.Pros:Built wellThe magnets are pretty strongDoor flaps are thickSize is very bigLooks very cleanCons:The metal door- why is it only notched on the one side beats me. I will say Iâm glad it came with the hardware (the thing with the spring that holds the door up by the notch) as we just added it to the other side with a second notch so the door isnât crooked, I added a photo. Bonus- it adds a layer of security as the door can only be opened from the inside. Unless you break it from outside in.The magnets seem to not want to stick when they get a little dirty, so I have to wipe them with a wet cloth from time to time.Things I canât really comment on at this time, but will update after a few months of use:The door flaps- yes I had them as a pro, but being in PA in January it does get pretty cold. I noticed the flaps get very stiff and with a breeze will not magnetize and cold air flows in. You can see this door was build in a closet, so Iâm able to close the door and not feel the draft, but if you plan on buying this door please keep that in mind. It could be that after some use this may not be a problem as the material stretches and becomes more fluid- but itâs at least worth mentioning for the time being.

Takes a little for dogs to get used to but excellent!
UPDATE: after 11 months, one door started not closing every time due to the spring hinge wearing out. I contacted the company PETOUCH since it was still in the 1 year warranty window. They sent me a new one. Still love this dog door and now if the hinges go out again I have replace hinge parts to fix it with. Still the best dog door I have ever owned!* ORIGINAL POST: No bugs get in. The flaps are rigid and flop back right after dog goes through. They come with a metal barrier than can be inserted to close off the door. Also comes with little plastic locks on the bottom of each door for when you are too lazy to put down the metal slide in door blocker. Had to cut those off because the dogs kept locking themselves out unintentionally and it became frustrating. The plastic slide down locks wonât stop an intruder and just frustrates the pets who tend to kick the door before coming through. Cut off the stupid plastic locks and now the dogs never feel locked out and if I need to close it for security I can insert the metal slide.

I like the door butâ¦
Within 8 months of purchase the door springs broke. I was able to contact the company and they sent me a new one under warranty which was great. However, 8 months after installing the replacement the springs broke again. I contacted the company to find out they do not offer replacement parts and since the door was now out of warranty they wouldnât send a new one. They did however send me a damaged door that had been returned to them that I could use for parts. I like the door and am very happy with the customer service. I just wish the springs were a bit heavier duty so it would last.

DO NOT BUY!!!!!!! WASTE OF MONEY!!!!
Within 5 months the springs are broke on the inside of the door panels and the door will not close!!! Wss great for 5 months but shoot $200 it should last way longer!!! Guess I should have bought a plexidoor like my had at my old house! This one is a piece of junk. Disappointed Amazon is still allowing them to sell it after the reviews!

Excellent Quality
This is an easy, yet solid dog door to install. It is built better than the flimsy plastic ones. This door works great for my husky and 2 cocker spaniels. Furthermore, I love that it has a magnet to keep the door properly closed after the dogs use it. This helps keeps flying insects from creeping in. Yes it is more expensive than the other doors, but if you have active dogs who independently go in and out, then this is the door to get. For the record, I replaced a flimsy door that eventually broke from repeated dog use. So pay up and get this one to handle your bigger and active dogs that like to go in and out many times through the day!

Très grande qualité, cadrage en métal solide, facile à ouvrir pour l’animal mais je croyais que les portes aussi auraient été en métal solide mais non elles sont en plastique légère trop facile a mâcher par mon chien qui est destructeur

Did the job!

Just want I wanted. Very nice made. Easy installation. Doors close perfect every time.

The only issue I had, was the inner and outer panels have to be lined up only one way. In the lower screen door application, it would be a good idea to add a little reinforcement.

There is no inside trim ring so you see the inside insulation of the door . The unit is designed backward with the latches to lock the flap closed on the outside of the door. If you mount the unit with the latches on the inside the flap is recessed in and now the pocket of the dog door is susceptible to snow and rain filling up the pocket and rotting out your metal door from the inside out. The screws supplied when tightened up start pocking thru the opposite side of the frame. The brush seal around the outside of the flap doesn’t even fit tightly in the frame so the seal is horrible. If you live in an area that has a cold climate do not get this unit!
