    Good quality
Safari has been around for many years. The quality is very good, very sturdy and durable especially when dogs are very matted. It’s easy to use and good value for your money.

    Must have for miniature Aussies
The only brush that works for my sensitive miniature Aussie. I brush him everyday and get a MASSIVE amount of his undercoat out. Unlike other brushes, it works through tangles in fine fur with minimal pulling.

    Best brush for mats
We have three dogs with fine hair and two in particular get very matted. This is the best brush we’ve found, and the price is absolutely worth it. Our dogs have avoided the dreaded spot shave thanks to this brush. I’m sure they appreciate not looking like a toddler got ahold of scissors. Five stars!

3.5 to 4 Stars–Good to use, needs alignment maintenance
I used the The Safari De-Matting comb in conjunction with the FURminator to remove matted hair and knots in my English Cocker Spaniel’s coat. It worked reasonably well, but the blades went out of alignment after 1 use–admittedly, the amount of matting was excessive and difficult to get through. I also used the JW Pet Company GripSoft Dematting Rake Dog Brush briefly and found that the JW is a solid product compared to the Safari.A few points of comparison: Safari vs. (JW)The Safari has 9 (10) blades spanning 4 cms or 1.58 inches (6 cms or 2.38 inches), blade thickness approximately 0.5 mm (1 mm), gap between blades: 5 mm or about 0.2 inch (6 mm or about 0.24 inch). In the first session of de-matting for my Cocker Spaniel–Soul, I used this in preference to the JW as it looked easier to handle and not as sharp bladed as the JW. However, both devices have sharp blades and need to be handled with care. The downside of this otherwise 4 star product is that the blades got pushed out of alignment by about 5.5 mm from the horizontal after the first dematting session. The blades are fixed to a central spine with steel spacers locked in by a single hex nut. The gripping of these was not adequate to handle the force of being pulled through the mats. Other than that this is a serviceable device with the blades needing alignment adjustment from time to time. (I do not know the ease or otherwise of such a procedure at this time.)I did a detailed review of 3 best tools/techniques for de-matting pet hair in my review of the FURminator, (order fulfilled by Amazon). There is a confusion and profusion of suppliers of the Furminator–many supplying the same model but at very different prices–I chose a product listing by ‘Furminator’, where the order was sold by a supplier other than Furminator, but fulfilled by Amazon. (You can see my review of the product and description for the Furminator reviewed, by clicking on the ‘see all my reviews’ link next to my name above.)The JW Gripsoft De-matting Rake/Safari and the Furminator make a good combination for pet grooming. A rotating steel pin comb and bristle brush and slicker brush would complete most coat grooming needs. (I have just ordered a Master Grooming Tools Steel Teeth Pet Rotating Pin Comb, Medium and Coarse, 7-1/2-Inch. )

    Incredible!
This was great! Took care of the matted fur without pulling. Also great on his undercoat.

Works wonders for a sheep-haired poodle
I have two poodles with very different hair. My 14-lber has coarse, thick curly hair. He looks like a sheep. Trying to brush his hair is like trying to brush a sheep, and when I shave him, it comes off in a pelt. Admittedly, he does not get brushed a lot, because it’s a very difficult job, he’s extremely wiggly, and when he doesn’t want something done, he flips onto his back and puts his mouth on the tool. He’s naughty.I bought this tool as a means to try to start doing a better job grooming him. He has a very long, very cool looking top knot, but it gets soooo tangled, so my hope was I could shave his body and use this dematting rake on his head. It turns out that this tool kept me from having to shave his entire body. I used a slicker brush for as much as I could, and then I switched to this tool. I had to start out shallow, and go deeper with each pass. The amount of fur that was flying out of his haunches was insane. He was very patient, and stood there and let me use this thing on him. Eventually, I was able to use a slicker and then a greyhound comb on him, since this thing got through those knots with absolute ease.A word of caution though is that it is very very sharp. I had taken the cover off, and I got distracted for a second, and I must have run my finger across one of the tines, because the next thing I knew I was bleeding. Make sure when you clean out the hair, you do it from the back side of the tines which are not sharp! happy grooming!

    Works great on my Maltipoo
The curly hair of my Maltipoo forms several mats once it gets long. This comb works great to comb and cut out the mats as it goes. And, my dog is fine with it as long as you go slow on the mats.

  8. HelloKitty

    Fantastic
I ordered 2 versions of different brands from separate Amazon listings. I included Halloween candy in the photo for scale. The larger brush was great to get through the mats on the main body of my 11 lb Yorkie. The smaller brush was perfect to tackle any mats under his leg joints, by his neck, face, ears, and base of his tail where he is most sensitive. My husband and I both grabbed a brush to work on each end of him, so that helped to keep my pup from attacking one of the brushes. These brushes saved me endless hours of pain-staking knot and mat removal. They are probably slight sharper than butter knives at the under-side where it cuts and loosens the mess. Now I can finally brush him with a normal bristle brush on a clean slate! Thank you for having this product available!

I just got this item today and quickly groomed my puppy. I have a 6 month old Biewer Terrier who is terrified of being groomed. She cries and yips and complains horribly when I try to brush her regardless of how gentle, and careful I am to support her skin while I comb her out. It breaks my heart to have to groom her. This tool went through her hair like a hot knife through butter. I LOVE IT. I have a dematting comb that is the same idea but the teeth on this new one are much MUCH sharper. The teeth cut through the tangles better without cutting the hair that offers no resistance. My one complaint is the design: one of the things that appealed to me about this product is that I can change the direction of the teeth for left-handed cutting. I assumed that the top of the comb would just unscrew to attach in the opposite direction to change the direction of the teeth. NOPE..it’s more complicated than that. The teeth and each separator all come off the base and need to be reassembled. I managed to do this in just a few minutes…but it was a bit of a pain. There has to be an easier way.In all…my small complaint is really no big deal. It’s an excellent comb and will make grooming so much easier for both me and my wee girl. I would highly recommend making this part of a dog grooming tool kit.

This dematting comb is exception to use on my Alaskan Malamute male.My boy loves being groomed, so this one will feel a little different for him.It is essential when using this comb you follow the instructions* PLEASE BE AWARE THIS COMB IS SUPER SHARP*The comb itself has a few prongs and extremely comfortable to use on my dog. Please do not go in heavy handed, this has to be a good introduction with grooming. So many sellers all over sell products that are not suitable to my lads hair. This comb if you are reading this has excellent reviews for the type of comb it is. My Mal is 6 years old and my first Malamute. They are a lot bigger than Husky’s and built to pull cars and trucks. As a working dog, he needs to be groomed 2-3 times a week and can take 1-2 hours if using this style of comb, then using a slicker brush and undercoat rake. Mals have two coats to get through, and blow their coat 3-4 times a year, resulting in three large bin liners a year.It is of the upmost importance to buy the correct tools. I hadn’t, I figured the tools all the same, but they are not. What I can say the amount of under fur or dead fur, this tool is excellent, it is so tough, doesn’t hurt the dog if used correctly. For the ultimate grooming you will need this tool, plus a decent slicker brush and undercoat rake.So if you have a dog that is super hairy, has more than one coat, then this is for you.So worth the money, and the best I have used in over 40 years of grooming my rescue dogs.Because of the sharpness, there is a good fitted plastic case that press studs over the sharp toolIf you feel unsure, please don’t be, this is the one what hairy dogs need, the hair afterwards is pure softness and detangled.Excellent tool and I highly recommend 100/10⭐️Thank you to the seller⭐️I hope my review helps you.
