Love the extra height in this medium size crate!!!
I absolutely love this crate. I have looked high and low for a crate that is the right size for my dog. I did not want to have to buy a huge crate for my dog just because she happens to be bit too tall for medium size crate…as if all medium size dogs have short little legs…why in the heck were medium size crates being made only a couple of inches taller than small crates? I live in a very small house so I have a space limitations issues so there was simply no way I couple bump up to a large size crate… Is exactly why I don’t have a large size dog. My dog is a medium size dog and will never weigh more than 25 pounds or be longer that 24″ long and 20″ from the floor to the top of her head. The problem is most medium size crates are about 30″L × 18″W × 20″H. 20″ gives her no head room. So thank you MidWest for making a taller medium sized crate. Not only is it taller, it is also several inches wider than other medium size crates. This is really a nice sized crate for a medium sized dog and it is very well made, nice and heavy. This crate has two doors with double latches on each door. Everything works smoothly with no problems and it is very easy to put together. Yes, the instructions at stuck inside but just look for the metal . It came with a handle to attach on top. I added a couple of photos so you can see my dog intge crate. She is a mini Aussiedoodle. She is 20″ tall from the floor to the top of her head and 24″ long from the trip of her nose to her back end. She weighs 20 pounds. The photos are a bit dark because I put the crate in the corner underneath my tall dinning table…it fits nicely under there btw. Some people have complained about the instructions being stuck inside the closed crate…which is true. However, if you look on the long sides of the crate you will see a clip (see the photo). It wraps around two pieces but will pop apart with one of them detaching while it stays attached to the other one. Do not try to remove this. If you ever want to pack the crate up, this clip will hold the pieces together.Once you have that unclipped it, you should be able to lift up the piece enough to get the instructions out. It’s really not hard to put the crate together. I did it without using the instructions but I’ve put together crates before. Some force is required when you are hooking the end pieces togetger. Be sure the side hooks are in place before you clip together the top hooks and watch your fingers. You definitely don’t want to get your fingers caught. The fact that these crates come with a divider is a great bonus. If you are getting a puppy that will grow into a medium size dog, this is a great buy. The divider will allow you to create a smaller space for your puppy and then as your puppy grows you can give it more space instead of having to buy two size crates. A small puppy should never have a lot of room in their crate because it will use that space to go potty in the crate. If you are looking for a great quality crate, get a MedWest crate! These things are definitely a cut above other crates regarding not only the thickness of the wire used, but the pan on the bottom is really nice as well. It is not cheap plastic. If you are looking for a medium size crate for a little taller dog, look no further! MidWest has exactly what you need.

which is a great convenience. I like the fact I can reach …
I have four small dogs and each has a Midwest crate. For my two Cairn terriers, I increased the size to Ultima Pro, as opposed to the original size chosen for my two older dachshunds. This particular model has two doors, with two latches per door. The door on the longer side allows me to position them flat against the wall side by side, which is a great convenience.I like the fact I can reach to the back of the crate to position pee-pads or crate blankets, without getting on my hands and knees. It is also a slightly taller crate than the ones used by the dachshunds, and allows the Cairns more wiggle room. Presently, the 17 weeks old Cairn puppy sleeps in hers, and there is room for her older brother to enter and have a nap with her during the daytime. Probably two adult Cairns would find one cage a bit tight, but it is roomy enough for an adult and one sleepy puppy.I’ve used Midwest Cages for many years, bought many models for both dogs and parrots. I’ve always appreciated the fine construction of Midwest products, as well as the features included. I prefer the heavier wire gauge in the Pro line, as well as the type of gate latches. I do not use the dividing panel, never needed it, but it is a thoughtful feature which some folks might like to have. This model is taller than the two original Midwest crates I purchased for the dachshunds, but the same heavy wire. The wire dimension increases the heft of the crate, but I seldom pick them up. There are rolling rubber “feet” which do not scratch my hardwood floors, and I roll them as needed. Midwest provides two handles to attach to each crate and they make it easy for two people to lift crate with animal inside, should it be required. I expect these two new crates to last a long time too. I’ve had the dachshund crates, same quality, since before 2005, and they went through Hurricane Katrina without damage. I place two crates along a wall, end to end, a rug over the top. The crates are a place of privacy, security, comfort, and each dog has one to call his own. I never use the crate for punishment, but occasionally a time out is required–if you’ve ever lived with more than one dog, you know this! 🙂 Without hesitation, I can recommend Midwest Ultima Pro to a dog lover. Properly sized, it will probably be the only crate you ever need buy for your companion.

    Cadillac of Kennels
To start, I would have definitely given this crate 5 stars if it did not arrive with a broken floor pan. I purchased this crate to transport our new feral cat (yes cat) from Florida to Maine on our vacation. I researched for weeks and read thousands of reviews on travel carriers. Seems that dogs and cats like to break through zippers and escape. So I changed to a metal kennel.I researched to find the largest one to give her ample space for the long trip, but would also fit in the back sit of our Tuscon.I never expected this crate, for the low price, to be so sturdy and heavy-duty. It definitely takes two people to move it. I read reviews that it was hard to assemble. Just use your common sense and ignore the instructions. Pull the top up so you have an open square and then lift each side and press them behind the clips, making sure the top of the sides are behind the clips as well.I only have two cons: 1. The pan arrived broken because of the way the divider gate was placed in it for shipping. It took me 1/2 hour to maneuver that gate out of the hole it made. I did not want to do more damage and make the hole bigger.2. The edges of the bars are extremely sharp in certain places. I was mentioning this to my husband as we were putting the crate into the back seat. Because it’s so heavy and bulky, he shoved and caught a bar on the interior door and tore the leather (bummer, it’s only a 2 yr old vehicle). So be careful!!!Lastly, this does come with a handle, but it’s useless because the kennel is so heavy. It really needs two handles….one at each end. All in all, I’m extremely pleased (overkill for a cat hahaha) with this crate after all the hundreds of ones I researched.

Arrived quickly to my door and it was fantastic not to have to do much lifting – I purchased the 42 and it’s over 50 lbs. Minimal packaging which I appreciate. Easy to assemble. I had to laugh a bit that the instructions were sandwiched inside the folded crate and I admit I was initially puzzled how to get it undone, but a quick internet search told me about the clips holding it together and after that, it was easy enough to put it together. The crate is not quite 43” as described everywhere but I had called Midwest and they assured me it was 42 ¾ – I had a tight space to put it in so needed to know.Once I had it together I realized there was a chunk broken on the pan. I used Amazon’s link to reach out to Midwest and they answered me in UNDER 20 MINUTES!! That is downright amazing. I sent a photo and my receipt, they asked me to confirm a few numbers on the crate, and they are shipping me a replacement. This Ultima is replacing a competitor’s crate that was half the price but that my new rescue dog damaged in a few weeks and completely destroyed in 10 months. He was only in it for a few hours every day but is 75 lbs of powerful “don’t you dare leave me and go to the store” strong. The top of the old crate was bending inward and the door had to be secured with multiple clips or he’d break it open. When a few welds broke making it dangerous, it was time to replace. This is the model I chose and while he’s only been using it for a few days I am very pleased with my purchase.A cheaper crate with the same double door feature might work for your dog but not mine. It’s clearly sturdier, the door secures with a latch top and bottom, and the company is amazing to deal with.Midwest does offer the iCrate as an less expensive option and based on my interaction with them, I highly recommend any crate from Midwest.

Vraiment solide par à port aux autres que j’ai acheté. Avec les petits caoutchouc en bas elle ne touche pas le sol . Je suis super satisfaite

We were looking for a strong, sturdy crate for our dog and this one is perfect. The only thing I don’t like is that the door on the short side opens on the right and not the left, but that is something I knew when buying and virtually every other brand of crate is the same. Just wish some brands had other options to open on the left too.
