Many find it easy to put on and off, with climbing style clips that hold well. The lightweight material and value for money are also appreciated. However, opinions differ on the stability of the collar.

Good collar – medium size works fairly OK for 13.0″ neck
Purchased for 9 month old Australian Shepherd + Cattle Dog mix puppy (around 30-35 lbs), because I was sick of her current soy fiber collar being a horrible dirt magnet. For sizing/fit, I was debating on whether to go with the small or medium size. Her old collar was adjusted to exactly 13in (measured as collar fabric + 1 side of the buckle), but she still has a bit of growing left and I was concerned she would outgrow the small size within a few months. I decided to order the medium size and see if it would work. At the smallest possible adjustment, it was slightly longer than the old collar, but it’s snug enough that I think she would have a hard time slipping out of it – not sure if it would be impossible, but it would take a lot of effort. She’s never intentionally tried to get out of her collar, and we use a harness for any outing longer than a quick bathroom break, so this works fine for now and I expect it will be a perfect fit within another month or so of growth. Hope this is helpful for anyone with a similar in-between size.Other points of interest: love the separate attachment point for tags and the included separator, she’s now much less jingly. The custom key ring did make it a little easier to get the tags on, but not by much. Love the reflective stitching – important safety feature since we’re in a city with lots of cars around, but it’s subtle enough not to interfere with the overall style. Colors are nice and vivid, and I’m not seeing any dirt yet after a dog park trip. Quick release buckle feels about as sturdy as you can hope for with a plastic latch; glad I opted for this one instead of the metal version, which I think would have been too heavy for her.Overall, no complaints, and I would highly recommend it. Haven’t had the chance for much durability testing yet, but the style and features make it worth the premium price so far, and I expect it to hold up well.

    Reflective!
Great collar! The reflection stop actually works! Color is stylish, comfortable and safe!

    Looks great, nice features
I really wanted this particular Ruffwear collar but they have changed the buckle to all metal with the newest version. I just wanted a plastic buckle and this was available through Amazon. It’s easy to adjust the size correctly and stays in place at that size. The buckle feels very secure. There is a tiny metal loop for tags with a silicone disk hanging from it that can be placed between metal tags to cut down on noise. Personally, I never use hanging tags since a foster dog once caught them in a dishwasher with catastrophic consequences, so I use something else; but for many people that would be a nice feature. I like Ruffwear products and have a few of their harnesses. They’re very durable. I’m not sure why this took so long to ship, but I didn’t need it immediately and waiting for it wasn’t a problem for me.

    Fits well
Well made dog collar, but it is pricer than some. I like the rubber piece on the tag area. It really does make the collar quieter with multiple tags. The blue was a pretty color. Happy with purchase.

    #1 Colorado Starter-Pack
Super cute outdoorsy collar, my pup wears it proudly. I think it even gives her an extra spring in her step when loading up in my Subaru to go hiking.Minimal wear after a year. It’s now in the “collar rotation”. Would purchase again.** Note: after bathing her I remove the collar and hand wash it & let it sit out to dry so it doesn’t get typical collar funk.

    Holds up to the velocipupter
I love the sunset pattern on this collar, the quick clip, durability, and size. Overall it’s a great collar for our crazy new rescue! Fits true to size, stays put on his neck, and the tag silencer helps keep all his tags from making too much noise when he does parkour all over the house/yard. We ordered a 14-20” for our ~40lb, 6-8 month old shepherd/street mix pup mix and it should grow with him as he ages. We use a harness to walk him, so I can’t talk about the durability of clipping a leash to it, but that hook seems like it would hold up well for dogs who are behaved enough to use it (we’ll get there someday. Maybe). Great buy sand great price!

    REPLACE THE TAG HOLDER!!!
excellent collar. but the DANGEROUS tag holder is a major design flaw. we have these collars on all four of our dogs (from an 8 week old gsd puppy to an x-large 12yr old coonhound) and we’ve replaced all of their tag holders with simpler, but much stronger, small steel key rings from the hardware store. they are a lot harder to bend than the flimsy over-engineered “rings” that these collars ship with. the stock tag holders bend quite easily and can get hooked to each other (as happened multiple times with our old fasteners) while dogs are playing and wrestling with their collars on. that said, we LOVE these collars and it’s definitely worth the upgrade for the highly visible reflective material. they look great and otherwise function flawlessly. we’ve found them to be very durable over the years and have never had to replace one. easy to wash in a bowl with some dish soap. great collar, but swap out the tag holder before you even put it on your dog!PREVIOUS REVIEW: we have three large coonhounds and these are great collars. BUT the tag holder design is flawed and dangerous. if your dogs play a lot, the tag holder gets bent and twisted. two of my dogs tag holders got tangled together and they fell down a staircase, trying to get them undone in a panic… the tag holder is easily replaced with a 1″ key ring (see pics) from the local hardware store, but if i were ruffwearm i’d RECALL all the collars with the dangerous tag holders, before someone gets seriously injured by one of those sharp, jagged wires… just sayin.

Soft and comfortable but seems very sturdy
This collar seems really well made and comfortable on my dog’s neck. She’s a 50 lb pitbull border collie mix with a smallish head. The 14-20” was just big enough. The colors are awesome and evoke alpine sunsets, of which hopefully we will have many together!

Très beau collier qui est léger avec de beaux matériaux

  10. Sarah

My big dog love it! Very sturdy and reflects very well. My dog usually wear martangle collar as he hate being touch around head and neck but this one is doggo approved. Looking for getting more for other dogs
