Whether you like it or not, if you have a dog you are training it. The question is are you training it for good or are you training it for bad. Training starts before training starts. How you live with your dog dictates how your dog lives with you. They learn from everything we do, good and bad. They miss nothing. They know us better than we know ourselves. They learn from everything we don’t do. Obedience commands don’t create a well behaved dog. Raising a dog and teaching along the way does. No parent says they are going outside to train their kids. We just raise them and teach them 24 hours a day and try to provide guidance so eventually our children can make the right decisions on their own. Dogs are no different. Live right with them. They are not children. They are animals and must be respected as such. And they are a precious gift that are not here long enough so enjoy every minute and never take them for granted.

THE Guide To E-Collars
This is THE guide to properly learning and using an e-collar. Everyone should read this before attempting to train with one. This book is easy to follow and overall just the best. Highly recommend!

Very eduactional
I was recommended this book by the founder of the rescue I foster through. He wanted me to have a better understanding of why/how collar training should be used and implemented. This book while a quick read gives so much information in a easy to understand format. Definitely made my understanding of the collar much higher prior to ever having on placed on my dog

EXACTLY what I needed.
I was a little disappointed when I got this guide and it was very thin as I prepared for my puppy to turn a 1yr old. doing my research it is EXACTLY what I needed. I have a 7month old GSD who cannot stay focused around people and dogs I’ve taken him around with me to stores and breweries to all kinds of experiences since he was 8 weeks of training at home and with him out and about. This will be the next level!I had been researching using an e-collar but was confident enough in his temperament and training That I will purchase one but I will hold off and start when his a year old. Especially since my dog understands his all commands, he just doesn’t always want to do them as a teenager now and I must stay consistent and reinforce them not in a rush to add one in. All in all the information is there I just thought it would give more but for the price, it’s well worth it!

It Has All You Need
This is a great book for those of us that want to use our training collars humanely. It is a small book, as some have commented. But it talks about what is needed and is pretty clear. It is not organized the way I would have done it, not many things are, but if you read it a few times it all sinks in. If you genuinely want to train your dog without breaking its spirit this methology has worked for me on my 6 month old border collie.

This is not a training guide, but a tool to understanding the e collar and its effect on your dog
I was a little disappointed when I got this guide and it wasn’t as thick as I prepared for. But it is EXACTLY what I needed. I have a 14 month old pit who cannot focus around people even after expensive training courses I’ve taken with him and almost one year of training at home with him.I had been wary of using an e collar but was confident enough in his temperament that I purchased one but was afraid to start, even after watching a lot of videos. Especially since my dog understands his commands, he just doesn’t always want to do them. This book is a quick reference to understanding how to use the collar. And the basic premise of the book is to help you incorporate it into your already existing training methods. The collar should not fear the dog into acting, it should simply be a reminder to the dog to perform the task given to them. There are do’s and don’t’s. Basic rules as to how you should work up to working off leash. This was one of the biggest things I needed. Was glad to see it written out. He also mentions “act of God corrections” which is something else I needed to know that I’m glad he addressed, since I hadn’t seen that mentioned in any sort of training video I watched. It’s a handy guide and I’m glad I purchased it. It has given me more confidence in using the collar. Larry preaches building a connection between your dog and yourself, with the collar being an extension of that. The more you work with your dog and the collar, the more he is going to trust you and the more powerful your relationship is going to be.If you want a guide to fully training your dog from day one, DO NOT start here. If you have a semi trained dog that needs the extra help of an e collar to help he/she live a more enriched life, this is an amazing little tool that I would highly recommend purchasing.

A decent introduction to ecollars
This is a reasonable introduction to ecollars. I think I would have gotten more out of it if I had not had previous knowledge. A little too many tangets and talk on all kinds of training that had nothing to do with ecollars just so he could brag about how little corrections he gives.

Excellent book! Excellent information!
My dog had come from a board and train situation which was not positive balanced (thought they said they were) and was not only obeying the ecollar out of âfearâ when he came home to us, but would protest having the collar put on for the same reason. We are retraining him ourselves using Larryâs method and, although we are only in the conditioning phase, his response to the collar is night and day different. He does not mind having it put on now as he sees it as freedom- and he happily comes to us on the lowest setting as well- The double tap to âcall himâ from far away during the conditioning phase is all we need and he comes excited. He is making wonderful progress and is no longer afraid of the ecollar. Our property is large. We are able to use the ecollar as it was intended to be used- not as punishment, but as a ârecallâ tool to notify him its time to come back to us when he is out of âear shotâ and cannot hear our voice. Thank you Larry!

One of the best dog training books you can get. This is only one small but important aspect of what Larry Krohn has to offer. Follow his videos on YouTube and enjoy training and having a perfect dog. Also, read any of the books from the “Monks of New Skete.

Easy instructions, great book for anyone who wants to use ecollars. Larry is a knowledgeable trainer. Highly recommended. 5 out of 5 stars

A must read to anyone thinking on doing e-collar work. His view on using obedience to teach a dog how to understand the stimulus of an ecollar was unique to me, as well as the usage as a “positive reinforcement”. Lots of real case analysis that can help you with a wide range of dog issues.
