this is a great dog door
I have 3 dogs over 55 pounds – 1 is a 98 pound Doodle. My current dog door has been installed since 2005 and they don’t even make it anymore. I was hoping this one would cover the current cut out in the door but I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m going to need a new door. Not this dog door’s fault but I’m mentioning because I haven’t installed it. I know I’m going to really like it because it seems very well made and sturdy and it is larger (taller) than my current dog door and I know Hank will appreciate this. If I needed a second dog door I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up a Grestorm Dog Door.

Not sturdy enough for the size dogs I have!
I ordered a door for large dogs. The product arrived fast after ordering and I was pretty excited to get it installed. That excitement faded quickly as the frame was broken while it was it carefully installed. Bummer! Maybe its better that it broke before it was fully installed and having discarded the old door. I wonder if it would have survived the comings and goings of my big dogs using it for very long. I think the material used might be better suited for small dog doors or for cat doors. The instructions were very brief with no warning as to the frailty of the material. It was a good try!

    Good
Installing this heavy-duty dog door has made life so much easier for both me and my large dog. The soft flap is sturdy yet flexible, allowing my pet (who weighs around 90 lbs) to move in and out freely without any issues. The door’s construction feels solid, and it’s been holding up well against the elements. I appreciate how secure it feels—no drafts or unwanted critters sneaking in. It’s a great investment for anyone with a large dog who wants the freedom to go outside whenever they please.

Large opening, soft flap, locking plate needs to be stronger. Good dog house flap.
I used this doggie door to make a custom opening in a patio door that is removal for my cats. After installing a few hard flap cat portals, I found they really didn’t like the rigid flap. I think it hurts their whiskers and shuts on their tails. Last straw was when one got their claw stuck in the locking mechanism. Since we have a soft door dog portal already on another door I decided to change out the hard flat cat portals. I am using this in a lift out door for sliding glass patio door. This was easy to install by cutting the opening through a piece of wood and drilling the four support screw holes. I did have a hard time getting the gasket to sit in each half and ended up using tape to hold them down every few inches. They will stay in place after assembly. The soft flap is incredibly bendy and easy to move and the opening is so big they can push through easily. The flap is new and super clear. It has a weighted bottom to hold back wind, yet not too heavy. The cover is light weight and easy to attach and remove. While the whole portal is made from plastic, the flap cover is very thin material. This at my house will not get much use and abuse, I can see it being the weak point if you needed to use it every day. I will show a close up of this and its attachment points. I can push it from the outside and in bends in. The cover came with small pegs which I wasn’t sure what they were for but they go in the bottom after placing the cover and keep animals from digging at the door and letting themselves out by knocking out the cover. This will work for my needs. If you have a large animal or wildlife that would try to get in your home I would get something more hefty. If it was to be installed with no locking screen and you have human invaders I would defiantly go with something more robust. This would a good dog house door to keep weather out.

Decent dog door that’s easy to install
As dog doors go, this one is probably a medium-quality in terms of overall build, but it certainly does the job. The flap has magnets along the bottom to help center it after the dog goes thru it, but it doesn’t always line up properly. I may need to adjust it to make it more level. That said, it’s a really easy item to install. You’ll need to cut a hole, but I didn’t use the included template, I just traced the inside of the dog door and cut on the line. The four mounting screws are included and they were a bit long, I cut them off and it went together without a hitch. Also note that you’ll want to take care to drill the mounting holes as perfectly straight as possible, otherwise the screws may not line up on the other side. Not hard to do, just go slow and be careful. My two dogs (a dachshund and a heeler) figured it out very quickly, and love the freedom they have to go outside whenever they want.Recommend.

    Works as advertised
Installation is fairly easy and the dogs love being able to come and go as they please. The plastic on the door is weighted so it stays closed. Overall this is a good quality dog door that seems like it will last.
