Not technically renter friendly. Or is it?
It comes with screws and caps to make permanent holdings. We’re renters so we couldn’t use those. Yes, without them it can be pushed down if you use a lot of force. But if it’s an out of the way area and you just want reassurance or not heavily trafficked it works great for renters too.

    Great gate for the price
I wouldn’t recommend this gate if you’re going to be locking and unlocking it a lot because it’s flimsy but it’s great for the price and in a stationary location

    Stylish but Functionally Flawed
I really wanted to love this baby gate. The dark wooden and black color scheme is beautiful and fits perfectly with my home. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.The locking mechanism is terrible—it’s not smooth at all and takes way too much effort to operate. On top of that, the gate doesn’t align well with the walls, making it feel unstable and unreliable. I would not trust this to keep any space secure or to protect my child from potential dangers. As much as I appreciate the aesthetic, safety is the top priority when it comes to baby gates, and this one just doesn’t deliver. I can’t recommend it to any parent who values security and ease of use.

Difficult to use and missing pieces
For reference, a cat owns me, and so I ordered 3 gates so we could have the door open, stacking them one above another. So the first gate i ordered worked great, came with mounting pieces to help secure it, little plastic bracket things that you use double sided foam tape to secure, and they hold the gate in place. The next week I ordered the next one and 2 days later the next – neither came with any hardware. Not only THAT but the next 2 gates didn’t want to lock right, wouldn’t go flush with the doorframe. I thought maybe the door frame was uneven but the first gate, when I moved it up the door in the same position, it was fine. So 2/3 gates had no hardware and difficult to get into a good locking position that a 6 pound cat can’t knock over – if used for a baby that would be very very bad. And lastly, baby gates have changed since 15 years ago when I had a baby, because extending the gate is a pain, but especially in the actual doorway, for some reason it is easier to move when you’re holding it sideways in your hand so its just sort of an annoyance. Secondly, the locking part has a hard time getting back over the wood piece so it’s another annoyance. Consequently we leave gates up all the time except one so we can get the mail and use the backdoor, its way too much effort to remove a gate and put it back up. While this was the cheapest and prettiest gate I could find and with the virus, they’re not in stores for some reason so I am glad I bought them, and we make due, if you have any other option, I would not recommend these gates. Like I said, first batch was great. I need 2 or 3 more for the back door and I am afraid to order more, I don’t know what I’m gonna get

Still works, just a bit more trouble
I have the older model with the metal bracket that you push down onto the bar to secure. At first I thought this new version didn’t work at all, it didn’t make sense until I viewed the product videos. Now that I know the plastic guard slides off the wooden end to adjust and then slides back to secure, I will keep it. I would just say progress is sometimes not progress….much prefer the older model. The plastic guard is a bit finnicky to work with, imo. However, all other options require installation and rather intricate adjustment (you almost need 2 people to secure most other kinds in place). So this is the best option for something quick and simple. You can even use 2 or 3 in a doorway, positioned one above the other, to secure a cat in a room. At least, in theory….will be trying that out today 🙂

Very easy to use, a good fit
This work great to keep my mischievous dog contained. My German shepherd figured how to get over his regular gate and I needed an extension. I placed this one above, and it worked perfectly. Great value, and it arrived quicker than what was scheduled. It seems very sturdy and easy to use.I can feel more confident now that my dog will be safe while I’m away.

    Works great for my purposes.
I need to keep my dogs out of a particular room and this gate worked perfectly. The color is nice and goes with my decor. Pleased with my purchase.

    Flimsy idea of a boundary
The instructions say not to use this gate at the top of the stairs! I didn’t realize this -but it makes sense and I needed it for the bottom of our stairs anyways. The gate was a pain to figure out how to open and extend. To the point that we are just going to step over it when we use the stairs. The gate seems pretty flimsy. We are using it at the bottom of our stairs to prevent the baby from climbing them. At least if he pulls down this gate I’ll be able to hear it and grab him before he climbs the stairs. But the gate is flimsy and could be pulled down by an excited baby in my opinion. The gate was cheaper than the others we have for the top of the stairs and it is evident. The gate comes with four plastic pieces that you are supposed to attach with sticky foam squares. This is supposed to help hold the gate in place. But the gate is adjusted my notches only. So if your width doesn’t match up perfectly then this gate isn’t going to work. We have an uneven gap due to our baseboards so there is only three points of contact keeping the gate in place. We will keep the gate for now as we just need it as an idea of a boundary at the bottom of the stairs to prevent baby from climbing up with our knowledge.

I was extremely disappointed with the Evenflo Position and Lock Farmhouse Pressure Mount Gate. The quality of the wood and materials is atrocious. The wood feels flimsy and cheap, and the gate didn’t fit properly no matter how much I tried to adjust it. It just wouldn’t stay in place securely. For a product that’s supposed to provide safety and security, this one fails miserably. Save your money and look for a better-quality gate. Super disappointed.
