Excellent pen
Excellent pen for a small puppy with supervision. It was worth the price and very easy to setup. Perfect size but could have been a little bigger but very easy to move and like the color.

Perfect for small dogs
The playpen was easy to install and put together. You can quickly de-assemble it to bring it on a road trip and then re-assemble it because you only need to remove and reinsert the stakes after initial setup. The size is perfect for my Yorkie. I have it set up in four (4) quadrants: a sleeping area – his bed, his bathroom – pee pee pad, his food area, and his toy area. It doesnât take up too much space as I live in a condo and it easily fit behind by the dining table. Itâs pretty sturdy and my Yorkie cannot jump over it as heâs a small dog but if your dog is big then this wonât hold him. My Yorkie has no issues staying in the playpen as heâs in it from 6am to 7pm with an hour break every few hours so he exercises his legs and roam the house as heâs not potty trained yet. Heâs only 5 months old and Iâm still trying to train him and this has been instrumental because for the few days before I learnt about it and while I await for him when I first got him, he peed everywhere and I was wiping and washing my rugs everyday. Now, heâs great a peeing on the pee pee pad in my daughterâs room. Iâm still trying to get him to go back to play pen to pee on his pee pee pad when he has freedom to roam so I donât have to watch him so much.

Workable
We adopted a mini-dachshund puppy at 8 weeks and needed a pen for her to be comfortable and safe in while we were at work and the kids were at school. For the pros, the crate provides a perfect amount of space for her potty pad (small Iris potty pad holder), water dish, bedding, and toys. The plastic is thick and sturdy, and the spacing of the bars is not so far apart we worried about her getting stuck between the bars somehow. We have both the click/snap style and pole assembly style. Both are very easy to put together and remove. I prefer the pole assembly style so if thereâs a mess, you can just slide out two poles, remove the front panel, then climb in to wipe everything out (the shape collapses a bit), then quickly put everything back together. I appreciate that the latches for the door can be tightened for extra âescapeâ proofing. We followed suggestions for the X support and had no issues with collapse. We also purchased a corrugated plastic sheet (âCoroplastâ) from Loweâs about $20 for 4â by 8â sheet (we have another Iris upstairs in our bedroom) and made a low-sided tray for the bottom (search on-line for making Guinea pig cages from Coroplast and you will see how to work with the materialâit is easy with a utility knife, metal ruler, and waterproof tape). The only con, which has to do with our puppy and not the product (hence 5 stars) is that our 5.5 lbs mini-Doxie who stands not even 8â high learned to scale the sides and climb out at 13 weeks old. I would not have believed it possible. I donât have a picture of her escaping on the puppy cam, only her climbing. She is white so it is hard to see but she has all paws on the sides and her nose through the top. She escaped twice in the space of a few hours and so we implemented the second great idea from the reviews (lattice fence from Loweâs). No more escaping.I would buy this product again. Iâm not sure how much longer weâll use it, since weâll move on to crate training as soon as she is old enough, but this has been extremely useful to us in this stage. Also, this pen looks great and isnât an eyesore in your living room. Our puppy doesnât mind going in it.Hope this helps some folks.Update: Not even 16 weeks, and the puppy has perfected her climbing skills … found she was poking her head from the top through the lattice and quickly realized this could be a really bad situation if she got stuck. So … I zip tied wire grids (a la wire grid storage cube panels) under the lattice, then zip tied everything down. This seems to have solved our problem with our Houdini puppy… for now. The pen itself is still very workable for us.

Missing most of the product
Received this play pen and it was missing 2 of the sides and no pins to even put it together if all 4 sides would have been in the box. I returned the product and was issued a gift card credit for the purchase price. I was so needing this to keep my puppy contained as I assumed it would be a little bit freedom of movement then being shut up in the kennel. Very disappointed that it was shipped with out the parts.

Good pen for the right situation
I have a a16 yr old Sheltie who has developed arthritis. She is very used to being crated while I’m at work, but even though I bought a larger crate, she has trouble changing position in it. It used to be easier for her to move around to lie in a different direction, but now she needs to make much wider turns. She also gets stiff after lying down for an extended period of time and sometimes needs a “boost” getting up, which is hard to do through a crate door. I was looking for an inexpensive option that wouldn’t mar the floor like a metal ex-pen, and this fits the bill.It was fairly easy to assemble, although it would have been helpful if the metal pieces had already been in place. It also be nice if the door was reversible. The pen is not particularly strong but then this dog is not very active and is no long capable of trying to climb out or even push it over. It keeps her safe in a larger space with scatter rugs underneath for better traction, since she stumbles on vinyl. The panels are low enough that I can reach over to help her up or to reach bowls etc, as long as neither is in the far back corners. I’m not sure how sturdy it would be with a more rambunctious dog, particularly outdoors. However I think it would be good outdoors for middle of the night potty training so one wouldn’t have to try to walk a puppy. Two more things to think about – the vertical and horizontal edges of the panels are not solid plastic, or even tubular. They are “hollow” on the backside (see photo), so that may impact their strength, or maybe not. Plus the grid pieces are much wider front to back than the wires in a regular crate. That was a bit of a problem since my hang on and clamp on food and water bowls didn’t fit well, and needed a bit of brute force to hang correctly. One wouldn’t fit at all.Overall, this is a good option for my situation, but possibly not for everyone’s. It’s a good pen, just be aware of the drawbacks.
