This is a great gate
I really love this gate. We have an odd configuration to our house so even though much of the living space is an open area, when you’re in one area you can’t see much in the other areas. This creates problems when the family is in one area and my two year old wanders into another, or when we are cooking, there is no way to keep her out from underfoot unless she is locked in her room, which to me isn’t really a solution at all. Normal baby gates are too small for the open passageways leading from the family room to the kitchen, so I purchased this gate.It was very easy to install and I was super happy that I could angle the gate as needed to ensure that I was screwing the gate into wall studs and not just drywall. I also like that once you have it in the spot you want, angled the way you want, you can “lock” it in position. And hey, it doesn’t look too bad either. It’s not heavy duty wrought-iron or anything, but it’s so much better than the bulky plastic or wood and plastic gates, and plenty sturdy enough. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to actually open the gate. I moved the thumb latch (which is definitely too much for a toddler to handle) but the gate wouldn’t open…then I figured out that you have to move the thumb latch, then pull up on the gate, and then you can swing it open. I like that the gate will swing in either direction when you open it.The only caveats- I have found that I need to step somewhere on the gate (I usually step on the hinges right next to the gate door) before pulling upward on the gate door. Even though it’s not difficult to pull it up enough to swing it open, enough pulling force is required that I feel more comfortable providing some downward pressure so the portions of the gate that are connected to the wall don’t get pulled up and out of their fittings (you screw a piece into the wall and then the gate snaps downward onto that. Itâs very sturdy…unless you’re pulling UP on it repeatedly). Also, you will need to make sure that your toddler or other kids don’t stand at the bars and shake them (during a tantrum or something). The gate has stayed put so far but I could see the possibility of it coming loose if treated very roughly. It hasn’t happened yet but I would rather not take chances. But as I said before, I really love this gate. Now when we’re hanging out in the family room, I can relax on the couch without either having to pop up every five seconds to bring the toddler back in the room where I can see her, or having to follow her all over the house to make sure she won’t break anything or hurt herself. And if I’m cooking in the kitchen and can’t have her underfoot, I can put her in the family room with her toys and shut the gate. From where I stand while cooking, she can still see me (which is good or bad depending on her mood haha) and vice versa, but I don’t have to worry about tripping over her with a hot pan or anything. And I’m glad it’s just vertical bars- my toddler scales the diamond-patterned baby gates by sticking her toes in them and just climbing up and right over! She can’t do that with these (no toe-holds) and the bars are close enough together she can’t squeeze through. I would have to double-check but I am pretty sure the bars have same or similar spacing to crib slats- close enough so a baby won’t get his or her head stuck in between the bars.My older kids have no trouble either opening the gate or just stepping over. I am able to step over it as well, even though I’m only 5 feet tall, so that means we don’t have to open the gate as much.Great gate overall!

It stopped workin after 7 months
Gate worked well for 7 months but it no longer locks rendering it useless. I’ve tried to get support for the warranty but no luck since they said the amazon seller was not an authorized seller.

Great Purchase
This is a great baby gate! We searched all over looking for a baby gate that would fit our large area and that wasn’t an eye sore. The gate is quality and very sturdy. Our 9 month old has been testing it day after day trying to tear it down, but it stays firmly in place and doesn’t bow in the middle like some other baby gates. We are very happy with our purchase and would highly recommend this gate!***UPDATE: My son at almost 2 years is now able to open the gate. By getting under the top gate rail and pushing up, he is able to disengage the lock mechanism without sliding the safety. For us it’s not a big deal because we live in a 1-story house and are never far away (more of a way to keep him to out of the kitchen if cooking) but this could obviously be an issue if someone is using it to block stairs. Just thought this was worth noting.

Love this gate
Great gate for a tri-level home with two staircases directly next to each other. My opening is 72 inches. I love how it stays open when you want it to, and all it takes is a slight touch, and it closes automatically. Very convenient. The door also swings both ways.Install was easy, even for us computer geeks. The gate feels secure and is very easily changed to suit your needs. Also, love the color. Baby gates used to be ugly plastic looking things and this actually looks nice in my living room.We have it tilted a little bit due to a TV stand and it works great. Very versatile. Cats took a few days to learn how to jump over it but they are both pros now.Update- It became a bit hard to raise the latch for this gate, but with a little WD-40 it is working again good as new.

Nicely designed, fits well, easy to configure for awkward spaces
We use this gate to keep the 90-degree opening to a set of spiral stairs off-limits to our toddler. The gate is more attractive and much, much better designed than the other gates we tried. For example, we have big decorative baseboards in our house (plus, not the most standard spacing of wall studs since our house is quite old), and the way the brackets are set up makes it easy to accomodate both. The staircase is steel so mounting directly to the bannister posts at the base wasn’t an option, and with this gate we can make an enclosure around the stair and attach it to the wall. The attachment points let you test and then screw in a wall-plate, then mount the gate onto that plate which means you can do the installation solo rather than needing two people to balance it. I definitely recommend it if you have any kind of non-standard doorway, and i’d recommend it over a lot of other gates we tried based on the appearance and ability to configure it even if your problem isn’t that challenging. The only negative I would give it is that likely you’ll end up investing in replacement pieces. Though the gate itself is steel, the attachment points to each piece are plastic, so if you trip over the footer bar just right and push the gate into the wall (stressing the wall attachment point on the lower bracket), or your toddler is crashing against it with rolling cart or toy (that is never going to happen, right?), the round plastic attachments can shear off from the steel. It doesn’t collapse the gate if one of them breaks, but it makes it seem a little less secure, so probably you would want to replace them. This seems like a design flaw that all the “steel” gates share.

The product was of good quality but we had to return it because it didn’t fit our opening. We requested a return from the company and they were very responsive and positive. We were happy with their customer service and that is why we gave them 5 stars. Thank you Jessica and team!

Modular design allows you to combine pieces from more than one set to fit almost any space. The latch on the gate is also quite a challenge to open, so I feel safe that our toddler won’t be able to bypass it.
