A strong plastic carrying handle is included for convenient portability, and rubber feet on the bottom of the crate protect the floors inside your home. We recently enhanced the safety and security of the Life Stages crate by adding locking tips on the slide-bolt latches to securely lock the door and patented Paw Block, which prohibits your dog from tampering with the door lock from the inside. MidWest Life Stages crates also feature patented rounded side clips that reduce possible sharp points to ensure a safe experience for you and your pet. Every Life Stages metal dog crate conveniently folds down flat for travel. The 24″ Life Stages (model 1624) measures 24L x 18W x 19H inches and is suitable for “small” dog breeds. **Please note the term “small” breed is subjective. For the best fit, we advise that you check the measurements of the dog crate and select a size that will be suitable for your dog’s ADULT weight and measurements. Your dog should be able to comfortably sit upright, lay down, and easily turn around inside the crate. When in doubt, we suggest you purchase a larger crate option. Great crate at a great price!
I purchased two of these crates for two rescue dogs that we were blessed to adopt. We adopted one dog two months before the other and I purchased this crate after reading all the positive reviews. The crate arrived quickly and was a breeze to put together with very clear instructions. They describe it as portable and I guess you could call it that because it does fold up nicely, but it is heavy! It is very well made, sturdy and has built in clips that make it very easy to put up and take down. My 60 lb German Shepherd/Lab mix has plenty of room to stand as well as lay out flat. The 42″ crate is the perfect size for her. I have a hard time imagining a dog figuring out a way to open the door by themselves as one reviewer suggested. The door is secured with a latch at the top and another at the bottom. It feels very secure. Was so happy with the first crate that I purchased another when we adopted another dog two months later. Again the crate arrived quickly and was a breeze to put together. Because this dog needed a covered crate, I also purchased a Precision Pet Indoor/Outdoor Crate Cover. GREAT cover! Fits the crate like a glove and is really good quality.I paid just under $69 for each crate and I’ve seen them in stores for twice that. Great crate, great price. The only improvement that I could make on this crate is that I wish the door was adjustable so you could change the swing to the other side. Just happens that with the location of both crates in my home, it would be more convenient if the door swung left to right. Not a huge deal, just would be nice. I had no need to install the partition because both my dogs are adults.

Love this kennel!!
I love this kennel! We just brought home a 9 week old puppy whoâs used to have a metal playpen in the living room of the breeders house. Our puppy is very conferable in it and he can see everything the living room, where he stays during the day if we donât have him with us.He likes being able to see our adult shepherd and he gets plenty of light. The cage is built strong, easy to setup. The door is easy to open with latches at the top and bottom so there no escaping! I love the plastic pan at the bottom of the cage. Itâs conferable for the dog to lay on and if your pup has an accident, it wonât be on your floors! Itâs easy to clean up any messes.I originally had bought the largest size because I was at going to use it for our two ducks to sleep in during the night, in our barn. During the day the ducks have free run on the farm but in the evening we need to secure them up because of predators. This kennel would have been perfect size for them but then we got a puppy. So the ducks will continue to stay in a horse stall at night, for now.Our puppy is a Cardigan Welsh Corgi but our very large German Shepard will go in it and lay down when the puppy isnât in it. Why, donât know, just because he can. :pI highly recommend this kennel.

Quality cage
A great quality cage, made from sturdy metal, easy operating double latches, comes with a divider if needed. Between panel connections and weight, I don’t know that I would want to break down to transport on a regular basis. Manufacturer is GREAT to deal with, very responsive should you need their assistance.

Strong and well made
This crate is strong and well made. The double latch system with guards keep the door shut and dogs paws protected. The pan is easy to remove if needed. Generic covers fit well on this.

Great Crate!
I love the crate! Easy to setup! At first I loved the idea of the divider so she could grown with the crate however she has gotten stuck under the divider. It is not stable at all, it swings, making it easy for your pet to fall in between the hooks on it. But overall the crate is sturdy and does the job!

We bought another 3 months later!
We previously purchased the Midwest double door crate, 18 inch. That was a sturdy, affordable crate we were highly impressed with. Our puppy Pip was so small at 8 weeks (1.75 lb) we believed he wouldnât outgrow it.We also purchased the Midwest charcoal bolster dog bed to put inside, which was comfy and fluffy. Pip is a chihuahua/australian cattle dog mix, and ACDs are infamous for being nippy/orally fixated; he is such a chewer he kept trying to pull at/eat the fabric, so unfortunately we couldn’t trust him being unsupervised with that in his crate.Pip surprised us by doubling his weight 2 months in a row and outgrowing his first crate, so at 4 months (9 lb) we decided to get the 24-inch single door this time. We forwent the Midwest bed insert and looked for something more flat/without fluffy fabric, and settled on the âKROSER dog bed crate matâ which is more of a denim-like texture around memory foam. He settled in without prompting and loves his new big boy crate! You want the crate to be just big enough for the dog to stand and be able to turn around, excess space is not recommended for dogs that are being house-trained as more space means they have less reason to hold their bladder while crated. We use our crate for when we leave the house and Pip is not supervised (at least until he outgrows those destructive puppy tendencies), and during dinner time; instead of him begging under foot he has learned that laying in the crate while we’re eating means we will share treats, so he waits in there willingly with the gate open.
