Great for 12lb bichon mix.
This is an excellent ramp for your pet!I purchased this ramp for my mom because her little Bichon/Poodle mix is getting older and hurt her back from jumping off the bed. She inherited some free stairs from a friend, coincidentally from this company I’d later find out, that worked really well for the dog to go up on the bed but she would never use them to go down.The dog recently had major surgery and my mom asked me to look for a ramp for her. There were plenty on amazon but after doing my research I found these had the best overall rating and the least amount of complaints.The ramp is a nice size. It fits perfectly for my mom’s Cali-King sized bed with a mattress box on it. It’s decently high, I’d say at least 2 feet, maybe a bit more. This ramp doesn’t go all the way flush to the top of the bed but it comes close. Her Bichon just has to take a little step to get up. She’s a smart little dog so she took to it almost immediately with little encouragement. Obviously all dogs are different, so YMMV.When I got the ramp I noticed the construction and carpeting looked similar to the free stairs my mom inherited. I found out they were made by the same company so I can say I’m pretty impressed with Pet Gear…they make some solid products.As others have noted, the removable carpeting is a bit slippery. The dog shows some minor traction problems but it hasn’t been an issue for her. She may slightly slip a foot or two but it isn’t so bad that I’m ever concerned that she will fall off. I’m debating replacing the carpet with something with a bit more traction for her, but honestly it’s not a pressing issue or a big concern. This could very well be due to her small size as well(heavier dogs may slip more – rated up to 200lbs).What’s really cool about this ramp is that it folds up nicely for travel. My mom doesn’t travel much with the dog, but if she ever takes her to a pet friendly hotel this ramp would be easy enough to pack up and stow away in the car. It’s not terribly heavy, either, which is also nice.Overall – Easy to use, great construction, and intuitive design. The ramp isn’t too steep and it’s a good size, even for taller beds.I won’t take off a star for the slight slippyness of the carpet because it isn’t a problem in my case – though YMMV. Still, it would be easy enough to fix if your dog did have serious slipping problems. From my research this is easily the best dog ramp I found on amazon and completely satisfied with my purchase.

Works well.
Kind of cumbersome and takes up some space in my SUV, but well worth it for my old dog. He was a little sketchy on it at first, but got used to it relatively quickly and waits for me to set it up. Made very solidly as read reviews on most of the rest and this one was rated well, which I’d also rate it 5 stars for durability. Just cumbersome but works well.

Great ramp for dogs with short legs – I tried all the “stairs” for beds and nothing worked for my apple head chi with short stalky legs. This ramp is good – nice grip on the carpet which my dogs don’t slide. The cats even use it now. You can also fold the last leg in for a shorter ramp – but that seems to make the entire base move if a dog tries to jump up on it. It’s a great height for tall beds. One dog caught on right away. The other (the apple head) took about 20 minutes to get her to try. If your dogs don’t get it right away – don’t give up. Keep trying. 🙂 They will get it in a few minutes. We also bought it so our other dog would stop jumping off our bed – every time he did we cringed thinking of the potential vet bill.It’s also a good width – goes the entire length of the foot of the bed, but isn’t too obnoxious. Two dogs can be on it at once (if they are small).The only reason I didn’t give it five starts was the color brown… it’s not the prettiest brown – it’s plastic brown. Now if this was wood – or looked like wood… it would be nicer to leave out all day (which we have to do).

i gave this 5 stars because it was exactly as advertised. i looked at so many ramps and got this one because it checked most of the boxes for our needs. we dont use the hatch for the dogs but we may have to someday. i got this ramp for my aging 80+ lb lab mix with a bad hip for him to get in & out of the car. with treats we were first able to get him over being scared of it, then using it to exit the car first since we made it was “the only way out”. he’s still hesitant but we continue to work with it. i will probably still have to assist him into the car but this will help. in all honesty wide stairs would have been the best. this company makes some that have good reviews but i needed this to be more portable/easy to manage then those appear to be.* i am able to put this at my doors (ford escape) at an angle….although it is near level to the seat it does not be touch the back seat, so my dogs have to make a small jump to the seat, i’d say about a foot. so this might not work for some dogs. they sell ramp style that comes with a piece from the ramp to the seat, but i didnt think the measurements were right for it to work for my suv*its sturdy and well made, there is some bounce to it at the fold site*the traction material is great. soft for their paws, good traction, and removable for cleaning*its not lightweight, somewhat folds easily but i need both arms to lift and throw in the car. it fits behind my SUV drivers seat when folded no problem or of course in the back

This ramp is very well built, super sturdy and the treed is magnificent, nothing is going to slip off for sure. It is big, bigger and heavier than I thought. Unfortunately it was just to big for my room and I did have to send it back. If you have limited space or need to move it or around it is a monster. If you are stronger than I am, have the space and a big dog it certainly is well worth the money

I was hoping I could push it under the bed when not in use. But when folded its still too high to go under.Otherwise its working fine for Simba our 13yr old Beegle. After some coercion with treats he has started to use it

This is a good product especially for indoors as it is quite heavy to get in and out the car. it is very sturdy and well made. I had to return mine as it was too wide for the back side opening door of my car
