Peaceful house, happy pets.
I have a young cat and a dog, and leather furniture. Not a good combination. I put the mat on the leather sofa, and after only one encounter with the mat, the cat has stayed off the sofa. He has stopped using the sofa as part of his crazy kitty race track. He stays off even when the mat is not on the sofa.I bought a second mat for my bed to stop the dog vs cat wrestling matches that were occurring several times a day, damaging my heirloom quilts. Happy to say, both of the mats have worked great and my pets are no longer damaging my furniture. I also really like not being the bad guy scolding them about the furniture.

Works great!
Super simple setup. We didn’t read the instructions ahead of time so it was beeping a lot when we first set it up and I was worried we would have to return it. It seemed like the same complaint as other users have had. However, after reading and following the instructions exactly, it now works perfectly and we ordered a second one. Our dogs don’t touch the couch now. Totally worth it! ðð¼

Worked great for my cats
It was a little hit or miss sometimes but it generally worked and my cat learned if it was on to avoid it. Just DO NOT let it get wet, even a little bit.. it started going off non stop ofter water dripped on it

My FAVORITE Amazon purchase ever!
I will start by saying that I never imagined a product could be so perfectly effective for my intended purpose. Seriously! I wish I could have borrowed these from a friend. Because, I have no use for them any longer. I can’t even lure my dog on the couch now with a treat!I ordered these overnight delivery and they were on my porch before I woke up the next morning. I was pissed at my dog for getting in the horrible habit of laying on the couch. I HATED it. I spot cleaned it one time because I went out of town for a few days, and there was some nasty spot on it. So I cleaned it with a spot cleaner I bought on Amazon as well. I turned my back and she had gotten on the wet spot and made it wetter. I nearly beat her ass (but I didn’t). I was so mad I got online and looked for something to keep her ass off of there. I was done. I found this product and bought four of them. I only needed three. My rage likely caused a shopping frenzy. When they arrived the next day, I learned they didn’t come with a needed 9V battery so I went to the store and got them. I then deep cleaned the couch soaking it with a pet cleaner and Bissel spot cleaner. I was so anxious I set these up before the couch was even dry.As I read the directions, I couldn’t wait to get this thing fired up and working. It was laughable how they suggest starting with the beep only restraint. Seriously, laughable. They suggest letting them get up there and letting it beep, then guide your dog off the couch and reward them with a treat. I thought to myself, this does shock them right? I have no idea how many beep treat drills one would have to go through to train a dog not to get on the couch. As I flipped the page, it began to describe the zap settings. Low-Medium-High. Since I didn’t have the time do the beep-redirect-reward method, I figured a strong jolt will work better than a weak one. So, I set it on high first try.The rewarding thing is that it beeps as it zaps and has a counter. So, if you are gone and you want to know how many trespassing violations your pet has, it keeps count. Also, if you are in another room, you can hear the beeping and know they are testing boundaries. The first time I heard it beep, I chuckled. I go in the room and don’t see her on the couch. That night I heard it go off once, and that was it. The next day I lured her up there (I know I’m an a-hole), and she immediately jumped down. I did this once the next day, and that was it. She wouldn’t jump up there now if I put a raw steak on it.One thing to note, when you set it up it does have a calibration setting. This takes a few minutes. It seemed faulty at first like it would misfire if the wind blew on it, but this didn’t last long and I never hear it beep anymore. It is truly amazing how much of a jolt your dog, and you, can actually get from a 9V battery. I came home after a couple of margaritas one night and tested it out myself. Holy crap! I see why she hates it! Way to go ScatMat. My best product purchase on Amazon to date. Love, Love, LOVE IT!!!!

Glad I purchased
I purchased this mat a month ago and itâs working wonderfully! We put it on our couch that was becoming our catâs rec area. On itâs lowest setting it only took one time to teach our cats to stay clear. The next time, as soon as they heard the beep, they immediately jumped off before getting shocked. Iâm very pleased that they now avoid our good couch and no longer scratch it up. The lowest setting wasnât enough to make our dog jump down, so if you want it to use with a dog, I think you would have to set it higher up. I didnât try going higher, so I canât speak for how it would work for that, but it works amazing at keeping our cats off things.

Simple, effective, not cruel. I used this in my kitchen in front of my sink and counter. I have a very tall, very big (makes danes look short) ignorant dog that figured out he was tall enough to pillage and plunder my upper cabinets full of food. Also steals my kitchen sink plugs for some insane reason. So, my kitchen is a U Shape. I laid the mat on the floor 2 feet from my sink. Basically creating a no go zone. Because the mat has a shock counter on it, i know day 1 he hit that thing 4x. Day 2 he hit it 2x. Day 3 nothing. Day 4 1x. Nothing since. He’s figured out thats a no zone. The mat has 4 settings. Chime only, low, med, high zap. I only have it on chime now and he’s still not having anything to do with the mat or my kitchen cupboards/sink plugs. The highest setting more startles you in bare feet than it does actually shock. Like a static zap. Not anywhere near as powerful as a shock collar but the pads on dog feet are sensitive enough that it’s very effective. I would definitely say safe enough for cats as we have one of those too and he’s not going in the no zone either.100% recommend for an easy, safe, effective way to train your pet to stay out of an area, off a couch, or like my other dog, getting close enough to the tv to knock it off the stand.

It doesn’t do what it suppose to do, my cat started to walk over it quickly to avoid the shock and sometimes jumping iver it for fun or annoying me I don’t know

Couldnt be happier, after learning his lesson once, my cat has stopped going on the couch to pee every morning. Great value and works brilliantly
