Great Food for My Huskies – Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy Food!
I’ve been using Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Dry Puppy Food for a while now, and my Huskies absolutely love it! The Chicken and Rice Formula is perfect for keeping her energized, and they can’t get enough of it.One thing I’ve noticed is that it helps keep their stool firm. No more dealing with runny stool, which is a huge plus! It’s great to see a brand that not only keeps my dog’s digestive system happy but also supports overall health. The 34 lb. bag on Amazon is a real steal. In stores, the same size is way more expensive, so this is definitely the best value. Plus, my dogs have shiny coats and don’t have that “doggy” smell, which is a big win!The kibble size is also perfect for large breeds like my Husky – not too big, not too small. It’s a great all-around choice for anyone with a growing puppy, and I highly recommend it!

    Working great
Every few months I have to purchase this from amazon to tide me over until my monthly Purina for Professionals order can come. I put my 9 week old Borzoi puppy on this as soon as I got him and he’s done great. Due to his size/growth and to try and reduce risk of bloat, he is now 1 year old, 82 lbs, and gets fed about 6 times a day with 1.25 cups of dry and 1/4 – 1/2 can of the wet food version. He is doing well on it and will be on puppy food until at least 14 months perhaps until 2 years, it all depends on his growth/metabolism. Adult borzoi eat less but for most, higher calorie food to allow for the smallest volume possible is ideal to help try and prevent bloat in deep chested dogs. Please note, as a veterinarian, I get asked about bloat a lot even though it’s a bit less prevalent than it was 10-20 years ago. As of right now, the ONLY predisposing factor we have confirmed is genetics- if a parent or direct sibling bloats, there is a much higher likelihood of a particular dog suffering a similar occurrence. Feeding elevated and preventing activity DO NOT reduce the risk of bloat! A recent study took dogs and fed them large meals and then crated some of the dogs and turned the others out to exercise freely. Those that were not crated had a smaller occurrence of bloat. So we clearly don’t have all the answers but it makes sense not to allow them to put an enormous amount of food and water in their stomach all at once.Since bloat is serious and can quickly turn into GDV which is deadly within hours, prompt emergency attention if there is excessive salivation, enlarged abdomen, vomiting/diarrhea etc is imperative! As far as how much to feed, the guidelines on any bag of food are a broad recommendation only! Be comfortable assessing your pet’s body condition score and remember growing puppies need increasing amounts of food weekly and eat to meet caloric requirements.

    Great coat and solid stools
Ive fed my dogs Diamond Naturals for years and have always been pleased but my current boxer had loose stools which I’ve never seen with Diamond Naturals so I’ve been trying different brands. This has been the cure for her. Very pleased.

good solid brand, well tolerated by my yellow lab
We use Purina Pro Plan products for our 3 dogs and 2 cats. We dont do boutique food. Only science-backed brands. Our puppy eats Purina Pro Plan puppy kibble but I recently added this large breed option to offer more variety and to make sure she is getting a large breed formula which I had been remiss on. She is an American/field lab. Large and lanky. Lovely coat, bright eyes, nice form. Silly, sweet, energetic. She is just over a year old now, and will be on puppy food for the most part for about another year. She doest love this as much as another one we get for her but she likes it when mixed together. And really she is a weird little eater (prefers to pick at her food) so I think she likes it just fine, but she likes her usual shredded option more.

    Great Source of Nutrition
Our veterinarian is very please that we are feeding Pro Plan for puppies with our own puppy. It is a great source of nutrition. Our Golden Retriever mix is already a big boy at four months old. It’s pricey but worth it to have a healthy dog.

  8. Rizzo

    Huge bag of dog food
This bag weighs 38 pounds which we were not expecting, but the driver was a real champ and left it on our front porch. Our puppy weighs eighty pounds.

My 7 month old Cane Corso, great Dane, Staffordshire mix has been eating this since I got her at a few weeks old. This keeps her regular and of a healthy weight. Not sure if it does, but I believe it helps with brain development… But maybe she’s just a fast learner. Amazon had better prices than other places but haven’t had this particular one in stock for several months, unfortunately.

My German shepherd puppy grows amazing on this food. His coat is shiney and smooth with less shedding than normal. His nails grow fast and strong, his eyes are bright, and the kibbles are large enough that he doesnt choke. I chose this brand due to the AAFCO puts their name to this brand, has veterinary nutritionists on staff, and do feeding trials to help gain further knowledge of dog nutrition. My dog loves the taste and does very well on this food. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
