excellent fit, our doggie loves it
I know this is so silly, but I hate that our adorable fluff ball dog keeps getting called a boy. She is such a dainty girl, she’s just BIG! And goofy. But so gentle and sweet. She loves being dolled up and so cute.Anyway, finding a nice harness in a more girly color that is not pink is really hard. So the ones we have had are red, black and brown – and when ever she is in them it’s automatically “oh what a cute boy”. Now if she wanted to be a boy she would have been ok with an alternative name, but she likes her girly name and she likes that she is dainty and sweet and so motherly.Sorry not to be so stereotipical about girls, I’m a rough and tumble lady. But seriously this dog would wear nail polish, lipstick and curl her hair every day if she could.Ok, ok the review.PROS: This harness is really cute, it’s a bright purple that is a great opposing color to Ms. Doggie’s blond hair. It is a size large, which is actually a size large and the measurements are perfect according to the size chart. WE have had such a hard time with ordering other harnesses as the measurements are so off – and 85 percent of the time the sizing is just not at all what they list. This sizing is absolutely perfect. There are two hooks for the leash, and more importantly there is a hook in the front of the dog. Listen, I know that so many harnesses have a hook on top of the dogs back. This is just not a great way to walk them. Dogs want to be helpers. Hooking onto their back makes them literally think they are “walking”, “guiding” or “pulling you” as if they are a sled or work dog. Like it’s programmed into their genetics. It’s why you see so many people being pulled by their little dogs that are so little you think they couldn’t pull their 180-300 pound owners with their little pug bodies. But it’s literally that the design is asking for it. So in short having that hook in the front is so beneficial as the dog should realize that it’s job is not to pull you, guide you or walk you, because if they try they will get turned back toward you instead of pulling you forward. The harness is appropriately padded, easy to adjust, very easy to put on. We have one person in the home with hand mobility issues and they had no problem putting the harness on and off as it has just a single clip to handle.Bonus, the doggie loves it. She lets us know what wearable items she likes by doing this: after wearing it we take it off and show it to her. If she starts licking it, she is claiming it as hers. After she is done licking it she wants to put it back on. If she doesn’t like it, she doesn’t lick it and walks away. So the doggie seriously approves and wants to keep the harness on.It’s sturdy and strong. Our dog doesn’t really pull or act up because I put 140 hours of training into her. BUT she will pull to someone she knows really well if we see them on the street. This harness is sturdy and will not snap if your dog pulls. I can’t talk for really hard pullers though – as we have her well trained.CONS: Most “no pull” harnesses tighten on the dog’s shoulders in the front of the chest if they pull. This one doesn’t. So the biggest issue is that it’s not really a “no pull” because there is no mechanism which would indicate to the dog that something is uncomfortable or different when they are pulling. To combat this, ensure you train your dog properly to walk with you and others in a manner that it won’t pull. Use love and treats, not anger or chastising and definitely not hitting. Dogs have huge oxytocin and dopamine systems that are programmed for human love and scraps of food. Use their genetics to your advantage and make not pulling you around a fun and rewarding activity and they will forever be great on the leash.Overall: great value, great color, awesome product. The only issue is it’s not a true “no pull”.Sorry I know this is long, but it’s really hard to find a good harness for a large dog, in a good color for a girly girl and that she actually likes. Hope you like it. 5 stars plus plus.

Heavy
Material is a little thick, heavy. Easy to use . Maybe just a little big for my 34 lb dog. Quality very good, tho.

Well built and padded with effective reflector stitching all over
OVERALL: Seems to be a quality piece of dog kit.PROS:+ All of the straps are lightly padded for comfort, both for your dog and for you if using the handle on the back.+ The webbing is flexible and seems to be of good quality. The stitching seems sound, with box X’s at most of the joints and full triangular sewing at heavily angled joints.+ It is important to select the correct size to start with because the chest strap is not adjustable, but if you do, the fit and adjustment is simple, quick, and intuitive.+ The reflective markings are bright and present on all of the straps, so there is a good chance of reflectivity from pretty much any angle. (Note: if your dog has long fur that covers the harness, then the reflectivity will obviously be reduced.)+ The D-ring on the back is not fixed in place, but has the ability to slide side to side. This is nice because it allows the ring to get out of the way when you are using the back loop as a handle, and it changes the angle of pull on the dog when the leash or tie-out is off to their side. It seems more comfortable for them.+ The 2 D-rings allowing for a front or back connection adds good versatility.+ The single buckle seems very sturdy.NEUTRAL:o Color choices are quite limited.o It uses the standard clip-in style buckle, which is fast and convenient but can occasionally pinch you or the dog if you aren’t careful, and it can be less secure than a loop and pin style buckle – sometimes they come apart or break with enough force applied.CONS:- The lack of adjustment on the chest strap may mean that this harness will fit certain dogs and dog breeds better than others.- Because of the single buckle, this harness must be put on over the dog’s head, then clipped at the left side around the chest and behind the front legs. It will be difficult for dogs who don’t like things going over their heads, but the opening is large and shouldn’t be a tight fit for most dogs. There’s a chance it would be tighter for breeds with large heads such as mastiffs or rottweilers, though.

So far, so good
OK, so … I have a strange dog. He’s a 2.5 year old lab who doesn’t ever really want to leave the house. I mean, what lab doesn’t beg to go for walks, right? This one. This one acts like he’s being led to the executioner each time we walk out the front door, and has to cautiously go through his mental checklist of potential threats as we round the corner of the garage and start down the driveway. I keep telling him, “Jack, you’re a 90-pound deadly beast with big scary teeth. What could possibly hurt you?” And yet, he seems to live in fear. One of his biggest fears was his previous harness. I brought him to the vet to ask if she felt it didn’t fit properly, of maybe it was hurting him. She said no, the fit seemed perfect. Anyway, Jack would literally hide from me when I brought out that harness.Enter the new harness. It’s smaller, sleeker, and seems to be a looser, gentler fit around his front legs, which I always thought might be the issue. It’s also easier to put on, with a single clip, as opposed to two separate clips on the other harness. Our favorite part, and a now mandatory feature of any dog harness, is the front loop to prevent pulling. With a 90-pound dog who likes rabbits, that’s important. The other thing I like is the lightly padded inner layer, which might help if Jack was feeling discomfort. And the seams are all strongly sewn, so I have faith that this thing is going to last as long as we want it to.So far, Jack seems to like it. It will still take some effort to get him out of the house, but once he’s out there, he loves life. Having a more comfortable harness should make his life easier.
