    Best book ever!!!!
I’d be here forever if I took the time to outline all that I loved about this book. Let’s just put it simple. William Atherton has amazing tips and ways of explaining how to train your new puppy or even retrain your older more stubborn rescue pup. I’m definitely keeping my eyes open for more books from William Arherton!

    Eye opening
I felt it had some very useful information and really changed the perspective I had on dog training. I do plan on purchasing his dog training course but it’s not because this book talked me into it; it’s because I really like his style of training (from his YouTube) and I feel that I can trust his teaching. I want to do right by my puppy and I feel that this book helped provide me some tools to accomplish that.

    Good starter book
Overall the book is a great read and I would recommend it. However, there is a lot of repetition in what he says throughout the book which makes it drag on at times. The reason for the four star rating is really twofold. First, the book is mostly focused on the principles of training (love it) but when it comes to execution of the training with the puppy and what should be taught when, he refers you to his online course. Not a fan of upselling on something I felt should’ve been included in a book. Again, great book would recommend and thanks Will for your insight on how we need to connect with our pups!

    Excellent Book!
Wonderful and inspiring book. I am getting a new puppy in 2 days. I last trained my GSD 10 years ago and she turned out to be a wonderful companion. I lost her to cancer two months ago. I needed this book to refresh my memory of the importance of being the leader for your canine companion. I am ready to invest myself fully in this new pup and look forward to many years together.

  7. Karen

    Great trainer!
I like it that he gets right to the point. Great advice, practical/no nonsense approach. I’ll be sure to follow him on you tube, as he has a lot of videos.

must read for dog parents, both pup and older
So i got this book after watching a few dozen of his videos on training. I have two older pups, but to be honest they pretty much raised themselves and you can tell. there are issues. not unfixable, but issues none the less. I think if dogs came with an instruction manual, this is what it would look like. The book is easy to read, formatted in a manner that flows swiftly. It wasn’t a chore to read, like many how to books tend to be. The author comes across as someone you want to hear more from. Highly recommend to anyone even remotely thinking about getting a new four legged family member

Brilliant read so much to take in I’m reading it again and again to absorb all the information. Excited to continue training my puppy as a calm confident consistent leader.

  10. Amazon Customer

Great sensible information from Will Atherton. Have watched a lot of his puppy training videos on You Tube and between that and the book have learned a lot and am doing well training my puppy.
