A little stressful to install…
We had been searching for a gate that didn’t have a bottom for the bottom of our stairs. I’m cheap, so paying over $100 for a ‘stair gate’ wasn’t part of my plan, especially since I’m buying the gate to keep my dogs downstairs and not protect a child from falling. This gate is awesome for what I wanted. It retracts to the wall and is easy enough to use. A child probably cannot manage opening and closing, and honestly, I’m not sure that if I had a child in my hands I’d be able to open and close, because it closure depends on you being able to line up the pieces on the gate and the pieces attached to the wall just so in order to close it properly.Installing the gate, WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY! Use the guides and get a good pen/marker to make your marks as to where you are putting the pieces onto the wall. We fought to get it perfect so everything would lock into place. If you and your partner work well together, this one might test the boundaries of your relationship. ijs. I highly recommend you include a stud finger into the mix of tools you might need. We ran into a stud and it resulted in some additional stress. I mean the videos online make it look easy, but it wasn’t that easy for us…but now that its installed I LOVE this gate and was exactly what I was looking for!

Great baby gate
This gate is best one I have ever found. So easy to change to fit most spaces. We put it up against wall and couch and worked great to keep our toddler in and dog out of area.

Great concept but could be deadly
UPDATE: When I spoke to the company they didnât seem concerned with safety of children when their products were having these issues. They did send replacement parts. We installed those and lo and behold my toddler easily popped it off the wall today and we ended up in the ER after he took a fall down the stairs.I donât think Iâve ever left such a terrible review for something but my childâs safety and yours is important.Originally Post:I would like to start off by saying I originally purchased this gate at Walmart and really liked the concept of a retractable gate. We used it for months at the bottom of our stairs until the latching mechanism that latches the gate itself onto the wall broke. We decided to purchase a replacement this time we purchased it through Amazon. This gate is the same one I purchased at Walmart so it was an easy replacement of all the part and lined up perfectly with the holes we already had. When attempting to mount it though we noticed the mechanism could no longer latch with the pieces it came with- mind you we replaced all parts of the original gate to ensure itâd fit. We thought it was faulty, so we sent it back ordered a new one. What we did not expect is for the second one we ordered as a replacement the latching mechanism- again the part that latches the gate onto the wall- also did not work. We had to manipulate it in a way where it could even latch on appropriately and within 15 minutes of that my 17 month old child easily walked over there and tugged on it a little bit and it fell off the wall. This could be dangerous, when this happened I was grabbing something in my bedroom, 45 seconds tops, he managed to do this and got all the way up the stairs. I have personally sent an email to the company who makes this because this could end up being a debilitating or fatal injury waiting to happen if someone uses it to block stairs like I have seen pictures of a lot of people doing.. we currently have a pack and play with 90 pound weight plates in it now blocking our stairs until we can find a replacement gate. Itâs so disappointing that this company states on their website they take safety of children seriously yet allow for their products to be potentially harmful if not fatal.

Good
It does what it promised. But it should be larger.I think it is too small, so make sure you donât need to use on a different door because it can be small.

A couple flaws
I really had high hopes for this gate. Number one, it took about an hour for my husband to install it. Heâs put 3 other gates around our home for our toddler without any issues. The instructions were really brief. Number two, there are specific lock settings which I guess I didnât realize. You can only lock it at certain points so the gate has slack in it with how itâs installed. I hope we donât have any issues because of that, and itâs not like my daughter can climb it, but it does worry me a bit. Number three, if we ever move and have to take it off the wall, weâll probably end up having to break it. It took my husband 10 minutes to mount it into the wall brackets and he said that he had to use a hammer and put a lot of weight on it to even lock in.

**5-Star Review for Retractable Baby Gate**This retractable baby gate has been a fantastic addition to our home! Itâs easy to install, super convenient to use, and blends seamlessly with our decor. I love how it retracts out of the way when not in use, unlike bulky traditional gates. It provides a secure barrier to keep our little one safe, and the design is sturdy yet sleek. The gate is also easy to operate with one hand, which is a big plus when carrying my baby around. Highly recommend for any parent looking for a stylish and functional safety solution!

Love it
Great baby gate, easy to step over so I don’t have to keep locking and unlocking it. It keeps my 1 year old out of the kitchen! Just be careful when you unlock it and go to slide it shut, it snaps back pretty quickly .

Save your money!
Save your money and buy a more sturdier baby gate. I got two of these in hopes of not having the bulk of a regular baby gate and only have it extended for when we really need a baby gate, which is when the kids are awake and are home. The plastic brackets/anchors kept breaking with regular use on us. The brackets that were attached to the wall kept snapping in half and the latch portion of the brackets was unusable. I reached out to the company for warranty replacement and for three months straight they had broken every week. So in totality the plastic on this is cheap and flimsy and will only last you for a short time. Save your money and splurge on a different type of baby gate

I bought an open box version, and unfortunately there were some components missing. instead of returning it to amazon, I reached out to Regalo customer service and they were happy to send me the missing components free of charge without a hassle. Gate has stood up well.

I’d give this a 5 star if the little metal tabs were properly seated. A few were stuck in the tube and I had to fish them out using a wire straw cleaner. Once I got the metal “buttons/tabs” out the tube’s and seated properly everything snapped into place. Just measure within 1 inch, then use the twist knobs to tighten and place the baby gate.Exactly what I needed.

Just bought my third gate of same model and cannot make it clip to the wall fitting. Button engages but does not lock in.
Amazon Customer –
Very disappointed in this purchase as it’s hard to open (definitely can’t do with one hand whilst holding a child) and clunky. Also didn’t feel secure when attached to the wall – would not buy again.

Esay to use and up and take down.
