    Nice good looking gate
I had a very old gate like this that finally broke down so I ordered this one. It is much more attractive and very sturdy. Since I had one like it before, it was pretty easy to put up, but the instructions were not very good if you didn’t know how to do it. Also, the locking lever is hard to move because it is still new, but I assume after it is used it will loosen up a bit. After I find the right groove for the door, I mark it so the next time I don’t have to try to find that perfect groove again. Also, I don’t use the wall cups that you screw in the door frame. The gate works fine without them and I use the gate on multiple doorways. I thought the black insert might have sharp edges, but it doesn’t. It is what you see in the pictures.

    Very satisfied
I have been pleased with the quality of this gate thus far. I use it too keep both my 2yr old and our yorkiepoo out of the laundry area and bathroom. It is small enough to fit the bathroom doorway but also expands wide enough to block the hallway opening to the laundry area so it is the perfect size for my needs. The height is good. I have no problem stepping over it multiple times a day (and I have fairly short legs) but the dog doesn’t jump over it and the toddler has not climbed it yet. It is also short enough that my kitten has no problem getting over it to get to his litter box in the bathroom. The gate fits firmly and securely in the doorway. This has been toddler tested regularly because he likes to try to shake it loose if I am on the other side. The cat also jumps on/over it multiple times a day. It has yet to budge. At the same time, it is easy to take down and put back up and has held up well to this so far.I was leery of the plastic at first, but it seems pretty sturdy. It has yet to come loose or crack or show any wear. It really feels more sturdy than similarly styled gates I have used in the past that had the crosshatch plastic or coated wire. I think the black plastic and accents and the bamboo wood are more aesthetically pleasing as well.I am very satisfied with this product and wish I had found it sooner. A couple of these gates would have been extremely handy for blocking off rooms in my previous house when I regularly had two young children and three small dogs running around. We did have a similarly styled gate at one point bu were very disappointed because it did not hold up as well (the wooden arm broke). I am glad I decided to give this one a shot even though I was initially leery of wooden pressure gates due to that previous bad experience.I also purchased a very similar bamboo and black plastic pressure mount gate of this size by another brand (Summer Infant). While that one is a little nicer aesthetically (darker stain, fancier plastic design), it does not feel nearly as sturdy and well made. I will now be purchase a second one of this Safety 1st gate to use instead.

Works great, just beware of limited use in older homes.
This gate really works well for us. We use it as a temporary gate in our house for when I am cooking dinner and need my son to stay away from the stairs. The gate installs quickly and easily. Its nice and sturdy. My 20 month old has not been able to pry it loose. The gate is also better looking than many other gates on the market. I love that is made of sustainable/recycled materials. The bamboo looks nice even though the gate is not too expensive. The only down side to this gate is that is not adjustable to irregular doorways or openings. We live in a home built in 1904 and none of our openings are completely square. As a result, we do have to do a little more fiddling until we get the right fit. After a few installs, we got the hang of it. I just wanted to give people a word of warning if they have irregular openings and odd moldings like we do. If you have molding on the bottom of an opening and not on the top, this won’t work for you!Overall, we still love the gate and would recommend it as a great temporary gate solution.

    BEST… GATE… EVER…
First of all I have to say that I have had many different baby gates over the years between my 3 kids, my several puppies and grown dogs and my granddaughter. This bamboo gate is the easiest and strongest and best gate I have ever used – better than the metal ones, better than the ones that open with a door, better than the one-handed plastic ones… better than all of them. Why? Because it’s light in weight, but strong. It is easy to set up and once you have it sized properly for the doorway, it goes up and comes down in seconds. It really isn’t a problem to take it down and put it back and I do it many times a day. Since it’s so light weight, you can take it down with one hand and put it back with one hand. But its strong enough to hold a 2 year old back – even a rambunctious 2 year old that runs right into it and shakes it and leans on it. BUT you have to make sure you have it installed correctly, which means you have to open it a little further than you think you need to and make sure that the center bar that locks down needs force to push it into place – in other words, the gate needs to be really really tightly fitted into the doorway to hold it’s place. Don’t worry about breaking it – the bamboo is strong and flexible. Just make sure that the gate is installed tighter than you think you need, and you’ll have it correctly installed. After a while it gets a little easier to push down and lock the center bar. Worth every cent. I liked it so much I bought one for my daughter who sometimes needs to barricade her dogs in her kitchen area.

Very light weight and practical. Takes a while to get used to adjusting and locking it but works great after! Very sturdy and well-built, better with a door but easy to cross over if you are tall enough. Good buy I would say!

Excellent product. Lightweight, so easy to be handled with just one hand. Yet sturdy, made from good quality stuff. Doesn’t hurt the child in anyway….excellent buy…recommended for every home with a baby.My life has gotten simplified with this one for sure!

this gate is absolutely awesome;it pressure mounts in a very uneven space @ the entrance way to my kitchen which is cupboard on one side & wall on the other in a 40 year old house.the bamboo literally bends to fit & it’s very sturdy;this is the second gate I bought.the first one was flimsy & lasted 2 days;I’m very happy with it & breathed a sigh of relief tht my baby’s safely blocked from kitchen dangers
