Travel crates are just a necessity of life if you want to get your furry best friend on the road with you. But the usual plastic ones are quite bulky, and where do you store them when you’re not on the road? The SportPet Designs Pop-Up Pet Kennel for Dogs is the proper answer. It has a sturdy metal locking gate, with a durable turn-dial latching system to stay in place. But unlike rigid plastic travel crates, it folds down compactly thanks to a collapsible design. To pop it open, all you must do is twist it, no complicated assembly is required. When closed, it’s slim and compact enough to store on a closet shelf in your home. Made of durable polyester fabric, with mesh vents on the sides so your pet has fresh air and a clear view of his surroundings. Please note, that while it’s durable and stays securely shut, it is for temporary use and intended for kennel-trained pets only. But even so, you’d be hard-pressed to find a crate that’s as cozy for your loyal pooch and convenient for you!

    Incredible Travel Kennel!
Bought this to make a long car ride with 2 of my cats (about 18 lbs each) and these boys had more than enough room in there together. The first ride we ever took with the cats we had to turn around because the regular cat carriers gave the cats severe anxiety and we were fearful for their well being if we continued.Fortunately with this carrier both boys fit along with a small litter box, blanket, and plenty of extra space for them. I honestly do not know if we would have been able to make this long of a drive without buying this. I truly believe the visibility from inside, the amount of space, and the openness really helped make them feel comfortable. The best part about this also came at the end when we arrived and were able to fold it up into a small cube and tuck it away until we need it again! Great product, I would highly recommend this! Also, due to the material I would also recommend trimming your pets nails if possible just to prevent any unnecessary damage to the carrier. We did this and the carrier still looks good as new!

Review for the SPORT PET large popopen kennel,
I like this carrier! I have two miniature Dachshunds and needed to contain them while traveling. I have a 2024 Acura RDX and needed something small enough to fit in the back seat which has a slope. I also wanted something that would not mar the leather seats. This is perfect for one to two small dogs. It stretches completely across the back seat and has doors on either side. This means that no matter what side I use, I’m not bending and reaching trying to put the dog in the crate. The carrier has channels at the bottom which you run the seat belts through and straps to put around the head rests. This secures the carrier in place. Because the dog is not buckled in with a harness/puppy seat, if there is a collision the dog would get thrown about inside the carrier but I feel the carrier would remain in place. I chose the carrier over the harness/puppy seat so the dogs would have a little bit of room to move about on long trips. The front of the carrier is mesh so the dogs can see me.The carrier is light weight and easy to set up. Taking it down is quick and easy as well. It is compact and tucks away nicely for easy storage. It also comes with a handy dandy storage cover to help keep it free of garage debris while being stored.Over all a great LITTLE carrier. Notice that the product reads “large” pop open carrier. DO NOT think you can put a large or medium size animal in this carrier. By “large” they mean length not height. The It will hold two small dogs comfortably, maybe three if they like to cozy up to one another. The attached picture from the product description is an accurate portrayal of it’s size. One last thing to note, because this is a light weight nylon type fabric, I’m not sure how well it would protect leather seats from cat claws.

    Very useful for out-of-state move!
This made my 10 hour drive with two cats soooo much better than putting them in their normal carriers. Getting it installed in the car was super easy. Compared to other car cages, this felt more secure as the seatbelts anchored it in place. The instructions were clear. I know some people complained they could not get it folded back up correctly after but I had no problems. It took twisting it 3 or 4 times until the edges lined up, then the clips worked great. The size fit from door to door on my Honda Crv back seat. As other reviewers stated, there is not a solid bottom so this cannot be used to transport the cats from car to destination, so it did take some effort to transport kitties from a smaller carrier to the car carrier, and then from the car into a smaller carrier to exit the vehicle. However the size was great, there was room for a small litter box, water and food bowl on the opposite side, a blanket, toys; and then both cats chose to cuddle next to each other in the middle where they could see up to the front seats. Very very happy!

Get this if you’re in for a long road trip with pets
Me and my fur baby take 10-hour road trips a few times per year. Up until this last trip, I’d been enclosing her in a car-sized carrier. While I’ve loved the safety of that, she would be noticeably uncomfortable and irritated for most of the trip in there, often crying. I wanted instead to find a way to give her space to move around while having an all-access to pass to her food/water and litter box. This was it, this was what I was looking for (actually appears to be the only thing on the market like this?!). While not perfect, I was really pleased with it during our first road trip with it and plan to use this for all trips going forward.Pros:- very spacious. Everything I needed for my cat fit inside: food, water, small litter box, and small cushion/blanket. Did exactly what I wanted it to do, and I feel so much better traveling with my cat knowing she won’t be so confined as previously and without access to her food/water/litter. No more stopping to pull her litter box out and waiting to see if she’ll use it before getting back on the road.- fits perfectly across entire back seat. Length and width just perfect.- easy to setup and put away. Not only did it just take a few minutes to get it set up and put away, I LOVE that it folds back down to a size small enough to store in my trunk when not in use (and in the included carrying case). Prevents me from having yet another cat carrier to fit somewhere in my apartment.- doors on each end of it, allowing ease of access and securing.Cons:- wish the top was also a mesh material. Since this takes up the full backseat, I had to put extra luggage behind the front seats, which came closer than I’d like to the mesh/breathable side of the kennel. While I’m sure there was still plenty of oxygen able to get in the kennel, I would’ve liked even more to have the entire top (or even just one side of it) also mesh to allow more air flow in there.- a bit pricey. Don’t get me wrong, you get a lot of product and it feels well-made, but considering most of it is a soft fabric/mesh that pops out, I wonder if it’s a big markup.- safety. The product photo explicitly states that it won’t protect a pet in a car accident. I do wish the company sold an optional attachment that would offer protection – some attachable bars or something. That would make this perfect.Overall, DEFINITELY recommend if you’re doing a long road trip like me and want to give your cat access to everything they need.
