Excellent gate design.
With four children, weâve tried a number of gates. Pressure mounts that slip around or are easily pushed down when the kids inevitably stand on them. (Wall Nannies do help for this!)We eventually switched to the North State brand that mounts with hardware, which was a wonderful improvement because theyâre so sturdy and stay in place. However, they do require routine adjustments to tighten the nuts that hold the width bolt in place. (Maybe one of these days Iâll JB weld it in place..)But if you need a longer gate for a wider hallway or stairs, this is the one. Once it is installed (which is easy), it requires no finagling. We have had ours for 9 months and it has been slammed closed innumerable times, and continues to provide security for our kids. The gate swings all the way open so that it will stay open, but once past the âstay openâ feature, will automatically close on its own, which is quite handy if you have children *and* are tired of saying, âclose the gate please!â eleven thousand times a day.Another handy feature is that the entire gate (minus the mounting brackets) moves out of the way in two literal seconds. A slide button on each end of the gate opens it off the pin and you simply lift the gate up and away from the mounting brackets. Reinstalling is just as easy.Love this gate. Best purchase we have made in the childproofing category.

Still holding up 8 years later!
This baby gate is still holding strong at grandpa and grandma’s and it’s been 8 years!! It’s incredibly sturdy and honestly kinda stylish for a baby gate lol. Easy to use and does it’s job well. Highly recommend!!!!

Looks Great, Sturdy and Works Great. See How to Install with Baseboards
We bought this gate to contain our new whirlwind of a puppy, to a smaller section of the house while house training him. In the past we’ve used the tension kind of gate that you had to step over but that was kind of a pain.So glad we spent a little extra and got this one as it looks very nice, is sturdy and a good quality gate.It was pretty easy to install and was helpful that they provided measured templates that you can cut out and place against the wall to show where you need to put the screws in. I installed it in about 15 to 20 minutes taking my time.IMPORTANT NOTE: This gate will work perfectly if the area and two walls you are mounting it to do NOT have baseboards (or if your baseboard is very short – like an inch and a half). If you do have baseboards taller than that (like we do), you have 2 options, 1 – Cut the baseboard section out where the bottom mount will overlap. But that is a bit obtrusive and going to be a pain to repair when you decide to take the gate down. So the second option (which is the one I did), is to measure so that the bottom mount is just above/right on top of the baseboard, then measure from there to the top mount making sure the distance between mounts is still correct.When doing this, the bottom of the gate will no longer be flush with the floor. Our baseboards are only a couple of inches so it is still workable as the puppy can’t fit under there (obviously). Also, you no longer have support of the floor across bottom of the gate now. So what I did to fix that was took a wooden dowel, cut two pieces to the size of the gap under each hinge point (there are only two), painted them black and then put one under each hinge so that it was a tension fit. Tip, cut the dowel just a hair long and then file it down to creep up on the right size.That sounds alot worse than it actually was and the 15 to 20 minute install did not include the wooden dowel fix.But at the end of the day, it is very sturdy, looks nice and works like a charm! We also like that it has a light spring on the gate to close it but if you open the gate all the way, it will stay open which is helpful on occassion.

Amazing Gates!
This gate is perfect! We have a unique entrance to the bottom of our stairs. Itâs very wide and the mounting wall/pillar are not parallel. We needed something that could span the entire bottom width and adapt to the differing angles. We tried custom gate makers but they would only build something a few steps up. With a baby, we didnât think that would be wise. We also tried one of those more fabric-style gates that pull closed. Those left too much of a gap underneath and because of the width of the stairs at the bottom, it was almost impossible to open and close one-handed and very difficult to do two-handed. This gate is amazing! Weâve had 2 of these for over a year and they work perfectly. Even if our stairs werenât unique, Iâd still recommend. The gate itself is made of sturdy metal. Itâs easy to install. The opening is self-closing and latches with little effort. Itâs very easy to operate one-handed but a baby or toddler wouldnât be able to open it. The gate goes all the way to the floor and can be easily removed from the brackets and used to block other entryways or set aside if moving furniture up and down the stairs. Iâve used them on several occasions to corral the dogs in the kitchen. Also, because the gates are sectional and hinged, it means they can be adjusted to fit openings that are not symmetrical. Anyway, these are well worth the money!
