Perfect for keeping my new pup out of trouble!
I didnât buy this to use with a child, i bought it for my new pup that I wanted to make sure stayed out of a certain part of the home. Shes about 20lbs and a high jumper, but this gate has been amazing in keeping her out of spaces where she shouldn’t go. It was pretty easy to install. I don’t often read direction manuals bc I find they usually suck/are more confusing than helpful, but these were straightforward and cleared up my confusion about one step. I do recommend buying wall bumpers. These helped keep the gate firmly in place without any risk of scuffing my walls. As i read in other reviews, the gate latch is a little challenging to open at times (mostly when your arms are full), but you get used to it quickly and it isnât something i even think about anymore, but at first- I do agree that it feels a little tight/needs a bit more effort than I expected. Also, trust whats advertised- what seems like a gaping space before its tightened in place does resolve itself once secured. It made me anxious at first, but worked out to fit perfectly and that seemingly inappropriate gap closed when in place. Again, i purchased this for a pet, but think its a great product and well constructed. Hope this helps!!

Works well in the right situation
We have this model at the bottom of our stairs and it works great. Very sturdy. I used the double sided tape on the end cap and it does not move when the toddler shakes the gate. The latch takes some getting used to but it’s not too difficult even for one hand. Auto close and hold open are great features.Difficult to assemble, though, and get into place. Still could not get one of the extension connecting pins to seat all the way in the frame. There’s a slight give at this pin but it’s not compromising.This model did not work for the top of the stairs unfortunately. We habe banisters on either end with some molding work on the bottom that affects the opening length, making it different from top to bottom by about an inch. This put us right in between the size guide, slightly too big for one extension combo and too small for the next extension combo. I thought I could make it work using different end caps on the top, but I could not sufficiently close the latch gap and the amount of tension started to make one of the banisters lean on top. I abandoned. Besides, it would have had the bottom bar across the top step which I wasn’t excited about.

Awesome gate!
Awesome gate and worth every penny. We installed it on the stairs to prevent our golden doodle from roaming upstairs. Itâs nice and high so he canât jump over it. Easy to install and dirts great despite us having a spindle on one side and a wall on the other. And no drilling!

Difficult to open
Opening the gate requires not only pulling on/holding 2 separate levers but also bending the gate upward to unlatch the bottom. Having to muscle the gate upwards while holding the latches is just cheap design to avoid connecting the upper and lower latches and was murdering the carpal tunnel in my wrist.The manufacturer suggested the gate was tightened too much, but it was not possible to loosen the tension without increasing the gap in the gate to the point where it could just be pushed open by a toddler. Really disappointed in how this was designed where the bottom latch does not retract when pulling the lever.

Gate works great.
It is important to read all of the directions before putting it together. I bought the extra wide gate so it was a little more work. But it all came together just fine and it works great for my three small dogs. I love how the gate swings open both ways. It also will prop open if you need it to, but it also closes automatically when you donât have it propped open.
