Well researched book with great techniques to help a reactive dog
I bought this book to with the hope it would help me train my dog to be less reactive towards other dogs. First of all, I want to thank the author for creating this book as it didnât only help me understand what I needed to do to make my dog feel more at ease, but it also helped me realize that what I thought triggered her, wasnât the real underlying trigger. The book will teach you how to identify types of triggers with the help of reactivity templates that will reveal patterns and ârealâ triggers. This is what helped me the most. The book also contains a wealth of well researched information and there are pages for journaling and sections where you can note down results of techniques you have tried (so that you can find solutions and improve). I also really enjoyed the chapters on how to create a more relaxed environment for your dog (with exercise, mental stimulation, games, the right type of communication, a clean environment and even relaxing music). Iâve tried many of these techniques before but will definitely be testing all of them, and Iâm very eager to try the music part. The book will also teach you how to use positive reinforcements to handle triggers and how to slowly get your dog used to the thing that triggers it. This came in very handy for me, as it was just what I was looking for. Overall this is a great read that I can recommend to anyone that has a reactive dog. I would absolutely encourage the reader to do all the exercises for best results. They may take some time but itâs all worth it in the end.

A great read for misunderstood dogs!
The dog wisdom behind this book is encouraging and powerful. I especially loved and agree with chapter seven. The right communication for each dog is key. Just like people they are all different. Denise dives into this topic well with great examples, suggestions and advice by experience. An author that knows what she is talking about. I feel all dog owners should take the time to learn their dogâs body language and what triggers them. This book gives you multiple tools to keep in your pocket for daily dog reactions/situations. I wish I had this book for miss Lucy years ago who was very misunderstood by the public because of her actions. I highly recommend purchasing this book for all the dog lovers you know.

Keep at it
Itâs important to note that this requires dedication. Nothing will change overnight. Our 6 year old Italian Greyhound is inconsolable around other dogs. You must gently insist the dog abides by your terms and submits to training. Good book with good advise but very generalized.

Well written and structured
As someone who has always worked with his own animals, both large and small, I found this book to be an enjoyable read. Animal reactions can be hard to read, much less, find a solution for. I enjoyed the focus on this topic that the book presented, and I also found the logs to be a great touch.Keep in mind that while a reactive animal can be created in an instant, repairing the issue will take time. Reading this book and putting it’s material to work will go a long way toward your success.Good luck!

Pages falling out.
As Iâve started reading this book. (Which does have very helpful tips) certain pages were not attached to the binding of the book. Resulting in loose pages falling out.

Not worth it
The quality of the physical book is poor and looks to be self-published. Dog reactivity is a destription of negative dog behaviors with a wide variety of causes, there is no one reason and not one approach. The content is just average and does not have the depth of dog training knowledge I was expecting. This book at one point assumes the owner is unaware of or incorect about their dogs triggers, if you are that person then this book is for you.I was hoping to be challenged and was not.

There are plenty of general dog and puppy training books around these days, so it’s good to see some more specialist ones coming in. There are also plenty of Reactive dogs out and about, (came across one just today). Many of then cause their owners much embarrassment as they lunge at other dogs and probably cause them headaches at home as well.. So while this book covers a lot of common ground with the established basic training tips, it does give special attention to how to train the more difficult dog, who has been unlucky enough to be brought up in difficult circumstances and reacts as it thinks is best. There’s also a section of advice aimed directly at the owner, as they can get reactive too… A calm owner leads a calm dog.I also valued the handy checklists at the back as recording the instances where a dog has reacted is part of coming up with the solution.
