LEARN TO TRAIN SMARTER, NOT HARDER.
Imagine translating your pet’s behavior to understand what your pet is telling you and what they need to shift their behavior.
In this groundbreaking book on dog behavior, you’ll learn to translate exactly what your pet is trying to tell you through their on-leash reactivity, separation anxiety, barking, nipping, housebreaking accidents, and more, while exploring practical behavior training strategies for dogs, basic obedience commands, and activities rooted in positive reinforcement dog training.
Sometimes a bark is not just a bark. Accidents in the house can signal something bigger going on in your life. Separation anxiety often speaks to broader feelings of guilt.
Dog training is not only about the dog—it’s about the pet parent, too. Common pet behaviors not only say a lot about the dynamic you share with your pet, but also about other relationships in your life, your habits, and even career. That’s why when you understand what your pet’s behavior says about you, you can train smarter, not harder.
By deciphering what our dog is trying to tell us through their on-leash reactivity, separation anxiety, barking, nipping, chewing, housebreaking accidents, and more, we learn about our shared needs, motivations, and emotional states.
After working with hundreds of clients, certified dog trainer and animal communicator Denise Mange developed a proven methodology revealing the ways our actions, beliefs, and patterns affect our pets to help you create lasting change and powerful transformation not only in your dog’s behavior but in your own life as well.
This comprehensive resource is perfect for puppy training, helping rescue dogs adapt to a new home, providing comfort for senior pets, or simply engaging long-time companions in new ways.

NOT just for PET PARENTS!
Wow! “Translating Your Pet’s Behavior” is a MUST HAVE book for EVERYONE! Here’s why:This is so much more than a book about dog behavior and mindful pet parenting. While it is quite brilliant in that sense, and is certain to become an absolutely ground-breaking guide in how to adopt and implement a mindful approach to dog training, in my opinion, Denise’s work taps into “the greater secret” behind transforming EVERY relationship, not simply the ones with our pets. The secret: honoring and respecting the essence and spirit of “the other”In all transparency, I’m not even a pet parent/guardian. But in reading this book, I’ve gained valuable insights and additional tools I can adopt in my own life as ‘a seeker’ on the continuous quest for self-awareness, and in my business and practice as a Conscious Parenting Coach. But wait… How can that be? This is a book about dogs, right? Yes… and no. Lol.I want to challenge anyone who reads this book, who also happens to be a parent, to replace the words “your pet/dog” with the words “your child”. With that slight shift in perspective, start reading the first half of this book again. Be open to the insights and suggestions Denise offers in regards to analyzing your belief systems, recognizing behaviors that trigger you, and adopting a brand new paradigm of seeing yourself in the role as “parent” (whether of pet OR child), not as someone who has control/ownership/responsibility OVER THEM, but into seeing yourself as being “in partnership WITH them”.It will be a game-changer… for you personally, for your pets, and for your children!”Translating Your Pet’s Behavior” will become a golden resource for anyone with pets. And for anyone without pets… this book deserves your attention as well. It’s benefits expand well beyond the categories of dog behavior/training, pet care, animal wellness. Denise is sharing wisdom and insights into effective communication and relationships that could easily ‘translate’ into making a valuable contribution in human psychology, mindfulness, personal growth and development, and yes… my favorite, parenting.

I adore this book! A groundbreaking view of why we and our pets are together.
In “Translating Your Petâs Behavior”, author Denise Mange has introduced a landmark understanding of pets and pet training that effectively connects pet behavior with both pet and human motivational psychology ala Maslowâs Hierarchy of Needs. The book is visionary even mystical, but easy to read and understand. It is a straightforward, easy to adopt resource for pet training that really works, because it is based on the revolutionary paradigm that pet behavior is a reflection of not just what is happening in the petâs life but in his/her caregiverâs life as well. Therefore, effective training must consider both, not just the pet. This paradigm as presented, reveals the fabric of the profound connection and shared mission between humans and their pets, how we evolve together, and why we are truly one anotherâs best friends. I praise Denise for providing a window for us to see just how special and capable our pets are, and how sincerely dedicated they are to supporting our journey through life. It would be impossible to read this book and not have oneâs view of pets and our connection to them deepened and changed forever.

The Definitive Guide to Understanding Your Dog
I was lucky enuf to score her as a trainer when she lived in Manhattan and she was well worth the wait! I had always been a cat parent and was flummoxed what to do with my first dog Asta. She got me into her psyche, what she was trying to convey to me and how to respond. If you canât have her as your dogs personal trainer this is the best thing. Make no mistake about it she also trains you!

Waste of time
I read about 60% and learned nothing of value, so I quit. Possibly written for readers with no experience, but it is not for me. I consider this a waste of my time.

Denise shares insightful, thoughtful, and practical information on our profound energetic connection with our animal companions. She describes how our beliefs, thoughts and actions may be reflected in our animalâs behaviour. Our animals and their actions lovingly support our growth, learning and understanding of why we live our lives the way we do. In doing so, they demonstrate behaviours to give us additional insight into our relationships with them, those around us and ourselves. Through the suggested activities, examples, mindful affirmations, pertinent questions and invaluable information throughout the book, she offers us a deeper look into these relationships. Deniseâs method and strategies in Translating Your Pets Behaviour, support us in understanding our animalâs behaviour, our own thoughts/beliefs and expanding our perspective to address potential themes in our lives that may need additional nurturing. Her combination of traditional training strategies and mindfulness provide vital and comprehensive guidance for our relationship with our cherished animal companions.
