Large 8×10″ book format. Learn how to train your dog like the U.S. military. This is the official military manual used for training military working dogs (MWD). Thorough, descriptive, and informative, we have taken the USAF Military Working Dog Program Manual (31-219) and reformatted it into a more reader-friendly version with added photos. From teaching basic commands to navigating obstacle courses, tracking, searching, and attacking, this guide will show you how to turn your dog into a canine soldier.
You will learn:

The old days of training dogs solely to be vicious attack dogs are long gone. Today’s MWDs offer far more value than that. They aid human soldiers in stability and support operations, security, and warfighting. Their versatility and loyalty expands the reach and effectiveness of U.S. soldiers.
No longer just for the U.S. military, this book is now available for public use and training. Your dog will offer better protection and improved loyalty as a result of this training.

Exactly the US Military’s book for their dogs
and what they do in their assigned military function. I’m giving it 5 stars because it is exactly what add advertised, and that quality. I didn’t find reasonable use for most of it.
Richard Kindred –
Impressive chapter on First Aide for your pet.
I was very impressed with the First Chapter dealing in first aide for you dog, and how to keep your animal healthy.
Ty Hanson –
Dog training book
Not what I was expecting but thatâs on me. Itâs more about requirements than training
Very fun to use for entertainment only –

Absolutely perfect for dog training and basic health care! Describes every step of the training process and is incredible informative. Working on teaching by apbt the heel command and he is really getting the hang of it!

Training is NOT easy but it is possible with this book!
Giving a 5 star rating… the info is great and works well, though I felt the 1st Chapter involving medical needs and evaluating the dog could be split up. The Chapter on evaluating a good dog is great, checking the body, teeth and ears as well as field testing before even taking on training is a MUST.As I said. First Aid Kit making and emerhency care could become Chapter 11, towards the back. A field kit, as well as a smaller car kit could be shown as well as Emergency care.

It’s not a training book
I thought it was going to tell me how to train my dog but it only talked about the military and dogs
Cory Erwin –

Enjoyed reading how the US Military train MWD. Great read even if you don’t want to train a Detection, Protection Dog. Always good to look at all methods and I love the work that the MWD’s carry out! Amazing dogs and Handlers. Definitely some tips that can be used to train your pet dog. ðð»

The book in its entirety is a ‘must-read’ for providing insight of what manner of training that goes into and the genetic requisites in the making of military and police K9s and by extension a sporting K9. Is it for the novice first time dog handler seeking knowledge and an understandable introduction to the world of working or sport k9s? â Yes, Yes and Yes.Chapters 1,2 and 5 are layman practical as the contents address issues that every dog handler must know and understand from A to Z. Those chapters are a concise and elaborate treatise on veterinary/emergency measures, principles of conditioning /behavior modification and deferred final response, respectively. The remaining chapters outside of three mentioned are informative but of no practical purpose other than military. The US Department of Defense hired Dr. Stewart Hilliard in 1998 to start the military working dog breeding program at then Lackland Air Force Base â Hilliardâs 1991 early work âSchutzhund , Theeory and Training Methodsâ dovetails with the methods employed in DOD US Military Dog Training Manual.
