Simple, effective, easy to use, great value
This device does not feel cheap or flimsy. It works well and is not complicated to use. It is not our first experience with a dog deterrent device, but it is the best one by far. We have purchased a few different dog deterrents. Before we had our dogs, we were surrounded by neighbors with multiple dogs that liked to bark a lot. We bought a Seicosy Weatherproof Indoor/Outdoor Pest Repellent & Ultrasonic Bark Control for Dogs, basically a plug-in dog deterrent box, from Amazon & put it on our back patio. It was supposed to emit a noise whenever a dog barked incessantly, but we doubt that it worked because the dogs kept barking. When our rescued Boxer mix was no longer a puppy, we bought a Remeel Dog Whistle from Amazon to deter her from digging in the yard and to curb her barking in response to the barking neighbor dogs. It worked at the moment but made no difference in the long run because, until we blew the whistle, she continued repeating the unwanted barking whenever she was outside. [On a side note, we got her to stop digging by burying her poop where she was digging. I thought that the idea was absolutely crazy and was doubted that it would work but am so glad that it did.] Later that year, we rescued an older, long-haired Chihuahua who was not fixed, house-broken, or trained in any way; he had “small dog” syndrome, barked a lot, peed on everything, and marked his territory even after he was fixed. When I came across the Mimill Handheld Dog Repellent Ultrasonic Infrared Dog Deterrent similar to this one, I bought it. Of course, I was skeptical of this one, too, but I could tell that each dog knew when the button was pushed and if it was pushed for him or her. The only problem was that since it was our only device, it was “lost” frequently because someone would use and set it down in a different location, causing a mad search when it was needed. At the end of the day, I was tired of hunting it down and bought a Brellavi just for me. The Brellavi device is kept by the back door to be used when the dogs are outside. I prefer the Brellavi over the Mimill because it works better and is visually more appealing (doesn’t look like a repurposed taser). For our boxer mix, I show it to her before letting her in the backyard, and she tends to not run straight for the fence, but if she does, I click it and make her come inside. For our long-haired Chihuahua, we use it when he goes “psycho-huahua,” incessantly barking his head off at anyone or anything or growling. As an added benefit, it also works on the neighbors’ dogs who bark whenever they are outside. We also use the Brellavi to break bad habits. For example, since the Chihuahua was not housebroken when we rescued him, he would cock his leg to pee wherever. At first, we were ecstatic when he pottied outside instead of inside the house. We would open the door & say, “Go pee on something, anything; just go pee outside,” but he preferred to pee on the covered patio which was not what we wanted instead of the grass which is what we wanted. Now, when he goes outside, I hold the device, and if he cocks his leg on the patio or deck, I click it, he looks up and runs into the grass to potty. Phew! The Brellavi Anti-Bark Dog Training Equipment and Barking Control Device is user-friendly and effective. It is money well spent. We highly recommend it.

Works well on 4 different dogs
I use this on my two dogs to stop barking and to come in from outside. It worked perfectly on the first low setting. I accidentally still had my coat pocket and went to my mother’s who has two very happy Chihuahua mix. When they would bark, I would push the button and they’d stop. Then they bark again. I push the button and they stopped again before they even knew I was in the house. So it does work and I’ve tested it on four dogs that bark at everything. Best trainer I’ve used yet and I’ve tried several.

Ineffective except for maybe blinding with a laser?
Update. We’ve had it 9 months. The dog is not bothered in the least by the sound or flashlight. We don’t use the high setting because we do not want to BLIND OUR DOG by shining a LASER into his eyes. Moronic product do not buy.It has three settings. Flashlight because why not. That’s fine. Then two levels of “control”. The lower setting, I, it has a mildly strobing light, and I assume the sound. It does work on our dog. I have tried others that only scared off our cats. So this is a better one. The dog is not scared; it’s not intense enough. He just looks annoyed or confused and strolls away.My only beef is the higher control setting. At II it has a red lazer! Why?!? You use this device by pointing it at the dog. So you’d be pointing a lazer directly at the animals eyes. Which could DAMAGE THEIR EYES. If I’m going to need that level of force, I’ll use a weapon or spray, not this silly thing. So I’ll never be using the high setting. Fortunately the lower setting seems to do the job, so just use that.

    Effective and functional
I have a lovable, active, and very aware pitbull mix. She let’s us know if she hears anything unfamiliar. Now this is great, as we want to know if someone is lurking around, but I’d like her to listen to me when I tell her to stop. This is the value of this device. The “training” mode is, I guess, a gentle attention getter. And that it DOES.Been a week using it and it got my dog to stop barking and listen to me every “training” activation. Maybe 6 events.I haven’t needed the more aggressive setting, so I can’t comment there.Plastic build and setting switch are not the greatest, but one hopes it succeeds and you won’t need it for long

  5. Lia

Good, but didn’t work on someone else’s Great Dane that has very bad separation anxiety
I liked everything about the product, I used this product to curb barking for my own dog. Which does the job well.Edit: I’ve been using this for a while now. (2months) Noticed that device does not work all the time. I have used it on a yappy chihuahua terrier mix that we always come across on our daily walk. I used it once, and now the dog does not bark at us insistently. I used it on an attached male dog approaching my dog and it did not work. Fortunately, its owner was within the vicinity to hold her dog back. This was not the first time, there were other instances. The product has a disclaimer says it may not work on animals that are well trained, or your own pets because it knows its owners will not harm them. Or maybe the batteries are low. There are no visual indicators on the bark repellent to show level of battery. For this I give it a 3 star rating. The main reason I purchased the bark repellant is to ward off aggressive and silence insistent barking dogs.

This product is a glorified torch. The sound is no where near ultrasonic and sounds like a house alarm, it doesn’t work in the slightest and you can’t actually turn it on without 3 dumb torch settings being activated, including a illegal red laser. Waste of money…
