The well-known ChokeFree Brand of pet restraints is now proud to offer Vel*Pro, a new mesh one-piece non-choking pet shoulder collar that utilizes a Vel-Lock Closure. Pet Retailers can now order Vel*Pro Mesh in Red, Black, Blue and Pink in five sizes that fit pets who measure from 11″ to 20″ around the chest just behind the front legs as listed below. Size is determined by measuring the pet’s chest just behind the front legs and going up an inch to allow for comfort. If the pet can tuck its head and back out, the Vel*Pro is too large and a smaller size should be selected.

Great Dachshund Harness – No Choke or Rub
I got the 16″ Medium. I also ordered an 18″ larger size because feedback made me question the right size. The 18″ would have stretched out to be too big. It was a little big out of the bag. The 16″ was snug but reviews said it would stretch and it does. Perfect fit for my weenie dog. Absolutely no chocking w this harness. He could back out if he wanted to but he doesn’t even try. He measures 17″ in the chest. I can’t remember if I measured right behind the legs like this says to or at his broadest chest point used for clothes. I wanted a color that wasn’t available, but the blue is actually really beautiful on him. He’s all brown and looked very patriotic July 4th w his red leash and blue harness. If you’re unsure on size, buy 2 and send one back. It’s easier that way.

    best harness ever
The only harness in 15 years that fits my pomeranian and does not choke him. He is 15 years now and completely trained. He can ware it all day with no problem, something I never did before. It was a little tight for mty 8.5 lb chesty guy, so I got it wet and stretched it around a jar until it dried. That seemed to do the trick! I ordered a small and his hair is short. I would order a medium if he had a full coat of hair.

    Good quality material. Good fit
Easy to put on, no choke , soft material. Fits my 15 pound dachshund. Harnesses are hard to find that fit her. Love this one.

Check sizing it doesn’t make sense!
Comfortable, keeps my dog with collapsing trachea from choking! The sizing is so weird! My dog is a little 14 lb poodle and a large is a little small for him. Very odd.

    Soft, double security and durable!
My former Pom wore this collar. Easy to step in, soft, protected his collapsed trachea and vibrant color. He had the purple. Had him for 10 years when he sadly passed away. I have a new Pom puppy and am ordering one for her in orange. The Velcro is very strong, and with the extra security of the d-ring, I feel very confident in this harness! Love it!

    Perfect for collapsed trachea
My pup has a collapsed trachea problem and we searched and searched for harnesses that offer comfort while not putting pressure too high on the chest. This harness is perfect. It sits low on the chest, is soft fabric (some other harnesses we looked at were leather), and very friendly. They last a very long time if you leave the harness on. One of my dogs doesn’t like anything on him so I take it off after each potty break and with all that extra wear his lasted 3 years before needing to get a new one because of the Velcro wear. Wonderful product.

Not as good as the leather harness
I picked up a pair of Pekingese puppies last week.I love the ChokeFree harnesses, but the leather ones are a bit expensive. Since I know the puppies will grow a lot over the next couple months, I decided to save some money and ordered a couple of the velpro mesh harnesses.I have to say I was underwhelmed by the Mesh version of the ChokeFree harness. The look and light weight are fine. The fit was a different story. They are very snug! I recommend going up at least 1 size. The slot through which you put the D-ring is very small and does not have much give. Trying to get the d-ring through the slot with a tag of any sort is simply frustrating!Once it is on, it fits the puppy well.If the ChokeFree design team would true-up the sizing and improve the d-ring slot, I would be willing to try them again. I really want to like the mesh version as much as I do the leather version. I cannot do that with the current iteration.

  8. Enjoy being a girl

Great product but runs VERY small
My 20 pound small dog has always worn a size M harness. This harness is about 6″ short of meeting end-to-end when tried on. Before ordering I showed the Amazon photo and description to the Vet. She approved it to solve the problem harnesses caused: pressing on my dog’s trachea when she pulls on her leash. I’m returning this size for a larger one. It’s nice looking, easy to put on the dog yet seems like it will hold her securely. It seems durable and well-made.
