    Phenomenal on all counts
I wanted the gate to introduce two cats and it did the job. We’re still in the process of introduction and the gate has proved invaluable. I tried another, somewhat cheaper gate which was awful. Didn’t allow for wall woodwork which was my fault for not really checking but, in general, was flimsy and not strong. The Carlson gate is phenomenal. Strong, relatively easy to put up with someone holding it for you and attractive. Tall enough to dissuade my cats from jumping over it. The walk-through door is easy to use and the wall tension mounts are clever in design and work perfectly plus the price is surprisingly low for the quality of the gate. Included is an extension which may come in handy at some future time. Getting back to the cats, one cat is a hefty guy and couldn’t get through the bars. Eloise, the other cat, is, by contrast, a small kitty and I wouldn’t be surprised if she wormed her way through the bars. Only complaint is I wish there were an extra wide model to block off our kitchen from the ever inquisitive Eloise. Much to my disappointment, I cant’t figure out a way to double up on this gate to provide the needed width for the kitchen blockade. I would rebuy this gate in a second if needed and wholeheartedly give it 5-plus stars on all counts.

Nice sturdy tall gate…cats can still jump over but dogs can’t
I have 2 bigger puppies (8 mo lab/german shepherd & 6 mo Aussie/Heeler mix) and 2 grown cats. I had purchased cheap plastic baby gates that lock in place, but my dog’s either pushed those down or jumped over them with ease. These gates are nice, tall, and sturdy. I bought 2 gates and and put each one up myself in about 5-10 min. The directions were pretty good but if you have a hard time with assembly directions it might help to have another person help. I saw reviews where people bought these gates in hopes of keeping their cat out of rooms but were disappointed b/c the cats jumped over the gate. I would only use this to keep dogs out of rooms. Cats can jump over most anything in a doorway and you should get a screen door if you really need to keep out a cat. My 7 & 8 yr old cats jump over these gates with ease. I thought they’d need the door but they don’t. But the pet door maybe useful for older cats. The Aussie/Heeler mix is very flexible and can still slink her way through the small pet door so we just keep the pet door closed for now. The only thing I don’t like is when the small pet door is open, it freely moves back and forth rather than staying in a permanent open position on one side of the gate. This causes the little pet door to bang into walls or get in your way when you open the big gate to walk through. You could fix this by tying the door open to one side of the gate so it doesn’t swivel back and forth. Other than that this is much taller than a regular baby gate, easy to open and close and is very study once secured in place…plus it doesn’t look ugly like the plastic baby gates. I highly recommend this gate if you need to keep out dogs that can jump or push down smaller gates. But don’t buy this gate expecting to keep your cat out unless your cat is not able to jump at all.

    Great gate!
I just had to make a review because of the reviews I’ve already seen, first of all if you guys read the pamphlet the gaps in the gate when it’s NOT IN A DOORWAY are not a defect, it’s a pressure mounted gate, you need to install it and there won’t be any gaps, the lock on the bottom works great when you rotate it the CORRECT way, the wall caps work perfectly when you SCREW THEM INTO THE WALL like you are supposed to, my german shepherd husky mix and husky cannot move this gate at all when they lean on it or jump in it when people come over, adjusting it is super easy, it fits perfectly in my 36” doorway with the extra piece, I even removed the cat door so the cats can go in and out.

Just what k was looking for.
The gate is tall, easy to install and easy to use. I foster greyhounds and I also have a chihuahua and two cats, so I wanted something that the little dog and cats could get to my bedroom for some privacy while keeping the greyhounds out. This definitely fits the bill. I didn’t want to drill into the walls so I didn’t use the wall cups and it works fine. This way I can also take the whole thing down when I don’t have a foster dog at the house without having weird cups stay behind. The only thing I didn’t like about this gate was the small pet door. It doesn’t stay open so it swings awkwardly and could hurt you if you walked into it. It could also scratch your walls or door. I just removed it altogether since I couldn’t think of a reason I would ever have it closed. It would be better if it had a magnet or a latch or something like some of the more expensive gates. But given the low price, I understand.

Very tall and sturdy and great for small pets to come in and out of the gate, works perfectly
Love it! It keeps my new cat safe from my bloodhound and it keeps the bloodhound from walking into my room and eating and drinking the cat’s food and water. It’s really tall and well-made which is perfect for a dog as big as mine. It keeps my room a little cleaner and smelling fresher now that he’s not allowed in here and is unable to just waltz in at any time. I love him but I was having issues which I’ve already explained. I love that it has a gate in the middle bottom that the cat can use when she wants to come in or go out of my room. I don’t have to worry about having someone let her in and out if we aren’t home for a good amount of time and I don’t have to worry about the smelly, drooling, shedding dog coming in here to enjoy the poor cat’s meals or attempt o play and say hi to her, which by the way, he was also doing and she just wasn’t having it! Overall, this is an amazing product! I would have loved to give it more than 5 stars, but 5 is all we get. I also wanted to add that it’s very easy to be able to walk through the gate. It has enough space to walk in and out of the gate without any kind of issues. I don’t mean to be rude, but you have to be pretty wide to not be able to fit through. There’s nothing wrong with wider people. I’m just saying this in all honesty that wider people, this may not be the right gate for you. My intentions are really not meant to offend anyone, so I’m so sorry if I did in advance.

Es fácil de armar, buena resistencia, como experiencia si es necesario poner las tapas huecas en la pared porque sino si tiene mucho juego la puerta

I bought this to keep my 70lb Bernsky (husky/Bernese) out of the litter box room, since she has an affinity for “cat treats”. First of all, when I opened the box, I was impressed to see good, solid, metal components. Secondly, and most impressively, the instructions were clear and actually helpful. Praise whatever higher power you choose! Usually it’s a gamble with Amazon purchases so this was a pleasant surprise. It’s a perfect height for the dog, and the cat door at the bottom is big enough for a main coon monster to fit through, but small enough that a persistent snoop can’t get her head through. The only complaint I could give you is that the human opening is a little narrow for us girls with some hips, but definitely doable with some grace.

this is a brilliant dog gate as it is higher than most and most important to me, has a cat flap within it. I have a very elderly GSD with worsening arthritic hips. I needed to stop him attempting the stairs as he had already had several slips which just made his hips worse. At first I installed a normal baby gate but the dog tried to climb over putting excess weight on the top of the gate and even worse my smallest cat tried to force her way through the gap in the gate bars and got her head stuck – panic ensued until I eventually turned her head to get her out, but it was scary. Then I saw this gate. I didnt think the cats would like going through the cat opening, but all 7 atook to it immediately and it has saved me having to constantly having to get up and let one of the cats in or out of the room. The cat opening is quite low on the gate so it was never going to work on the stairs, but I fitted the gate on the kitchen door instead and the whole thing is just perfect for my needs. The opening mechanism is also better than on a child gate in that you can just pull the opening gate to and it locks into place automatically.
