    Works Great
I ordered this Egloo cam A2 to use as a “puppy cam” so I could check in on my new dog while I am at work. It works really great! The only downside I see is that it doesn’t record– I can only view live. That isn’t a problem for me but might be something for others to keep in mind. The camera was easy to set up and the app is very user-friendly.

    Affordable and works
I used this in my office to keep an eye on things when I wasn’t there. It went off a lot even when working with the sensitivity settings. Was easy to setup for the most part. Audio and video were pretty great even at the price!

Excellent camera, but poor software and support
[EDIT] I may be looking for a new camera to replace this one. I just took off another star. I liked almost everything about this camera (except for the issues noted below), but I just came to the end of the free cloud service, and there is nothing on their website that tells you how much the subscription cost is. I did just see in someone’s review that the price has increased from $39.99 to $59.99/month, but I don’t know if that is accurate, but if it is, it’s much too expensive for me. There is no information about subscription plans on their website, and when I have tried to contact support, there was no response. [END EDIT]I thought this camera would be good for keeping an eye on what our dogs are up to when we are out of the house. It was easy to set up, and works great. The videos are very clear, and there is two-way audio as well. The reason I only gave it three stars is because it cannot be adjusted to different angles. For example, I had it on a countertop and wanted to angle the view more towards the floor, but it only shows straight ahead horizontally. The only way to see another angle is to use the pan and tilt option within the software while in live view. Since I cannot angle the view down more towards the floor, the dogs can go right under the camera’s view and not be picked up on motion detection. The pan and tilt in live view is really nice, and has an amazing field of view. You can look all the way up, down, or to the sides, and see whatever may be going on.I know there are cameras that have artificial intelligence to track an object that set off the motion alert, but this one does not do that, but at the price point, I wouldn’t expect it to.So almost everything about this camera is great except for not being able to get help from their site in setting it up properly, and also having to pay for a subscription if you want to see the video playback easily. Also, playing back the video from the SD card is not very easy. You would have to play back the whole time it was recording to find anything. In order to just play back the times where motion was detected, you have to buy a subscription to their site.I tried contacting their support site for help, but received no response. I’ve found that a product is only as good as the company behind it, and if you can’t get support when something isn’t working, the item isn’t of good use.

Camera Works, But Difficult to Install
I have to say I’m a stickler for printed manuals when I buy electronics, and in unpacking this camera, I found none. However, on the box they had QR codes to access their app and user manual, and I did both. I like to have the docs in my hand when I’m installing devices especially when they’re not plug-and-play, and this camera requires following several steps to get it working including signing up online. For their price of $39.99, they could have printed the manual. After skimming the online manual and installing the app, I got the installation started. And in about 20 minutes including entering my Wi-Fi password, I heard voice prompts from the camera announcing the progression, and then it was done. However, within the app it asked if I wanted to try the free 30-day cloud storage, but I said NO. The camera has a micro-SD card slot for offline storage, and I didn’t plan on subscribing. It then kept repeating the question in an endless loop. By then, I wasn’t sure the camera was really installed. Also, during the installation it offered an installation video which I ran, but it wasn’t in English, likely Korean, because the company was based out of Korea. After dinner I restarted the app and hit the camera icon but no image. A message said it required a firmware upgrade, so I started the upgrade. Then 25 minutes later I had an image. I was glad I got the camera to work, but the whole setup and installation took about an hour, which was unacceptable. In the past year I’ve reviewed similar cameras and had them working in 10 or 15 minutes with helpful printed instructions and QR codes that identified and registered the camera. This was a new product so why hadn’t the manufacturer updated the camera software before shipping? It seems to me that the camera and the Egloo app were not ready for the U.S. market.FeaturesSince it was working, I could test the features, which were similar to other security cameras I’ve reviewed like two-way audio, pan and tilt the image, motion detection and record video and take still pictures. The picture was clear at 1080P HD, and the colors were right. And it allowed night vision.I did run into one other problem after about 15 minutes. When I was testing the camera rotation (left, right, up and down) suddenly the color disappeared, and the picture was just black and white. I tried resetting the camera and unplugged the power adapter, but that did not fix it. While I was looking for adjustments within the app, the color suddenly returned. It’s possible that there wasn’t enough light in the room, and it switched to its night vision mode.
