Great harness if your dog needs a little help!
I have a very old Jack Russell and she’s starting to have trouble getting up and down the stairs to our apartment. She’s also on seizure medication that makes her a little drunk, so even when she’s full of energy it’s a good idea for me to have a way to keep her from going ass-over-teakettle if she loses her balance on the stairs. The handle is very adjustable and the velcro hand grip slides with your dog’s orientation, so if they’re going down the stairs it slides back so that you aren’t trying to keep them level, same with them going up the stairs. I fed her leash through the hand grip so when my girl is looking for that perfect place to go, the handle isn’t dragging in the grass or tripping her.She seems pretty comfortable being fully lifted in the harness, it doesn’t choke her or try to center her weight on just one of the support bands. The carrying handle is clipped into the harness with 4 flat, quick release clips and can be completely detached in favor of the built-in handle, if your dog is tall enough or doesn’t require a leash. The collar support is a three flap velcro design that I was initially a little suspicious of but it allows for plenty of movement, is wide enough to not worry so much about choking and hasn’t come undone unexpectedly.I highly recommend this harness with the caveat that good body mechanics are necessary to keep from hurting yourself while carrying your dog, especially if they aren’t able to use their legs to offer support or balance.

    Perfect for seniors doing steps!!!!!
This dog lift harness is a GODSEND!Charlie Annabelles had a little fall going down the steps last week (likely because it was so cold & the arthritis in her hind legs acted up) and I wasn’t sure how I felt about training a senior labrador to use potty pads in the house.I would have—and will if it comes to it—but she loves to be outside & once she’s done with the steps she does fine.Problem solved!!!!I’ve been assisting her going both down & up the steps and now I can breathe again knowing she’s safe & not in any pain! When it was warmer outside the other day, I was going to let her come back up on her own, and she actually waited at the bottom of the steps for my help so that speaks volumes about the support this provides!!!!She will always have this on from here on out when doing steps!I ordered size XL and she’s about 85 lbs. (There is zero wiggle room in the front so that will prevent any weight gain lol!)

Fits chest but not waist. Not good for male dogs
My dog is a 19 lb terrier mix who is difficult to fit. If a harness fits his chest it doesn’t fit his waist, and if it fits his waist it’s too small to go around his chest. I had the same problem with this harness although the adjustment is really flexible so I was hopeful. It is also not good for a male dog with a…member…that doesn’t extend far enough to clear the hole intended for that. So I wouldnt recommend for a smaller dog. It is very well made, easy to adjust, and easy to put on, so it may work well for your dog.

    Causes bruising
My dog (a 75lb Rottweiler/lab/pit mix) just had surgery to remove one of his rear legs. I ordered this harness in large to help him as he recovers and gets used to being on three legs. It was snug on his chest, but loose in his waist. This harness would be good for senior dogs, but the belly is a bit too long and gets too close to his stitches. The harness is surprisingly sturdy and it was able to lift his weight (though I never carried him with it, only used it to assist him getting up from laying down and going to the bathroom). I would’ve looked past the minor sizing issues of this harness, except it caused terrible bruising under his armpits in only two days of use. I’m not sure if that’s what is to be expected with this type of product, but he’s in enough pain while healing from major surgery, so I will not be using this anymore.

    Our vet was pleasantly surprised
**I tend to write excessively, I apologize in advance for the lengthy review!**Purchased harness in size XL. Have been using this harness for approx 2-3wks at time of this review.Demographics of our dog:8yo Female German shepherdPresurgery 90-95lbs (when we first started using the harness)Injury: complex fracture in front elbow jointSurgery: amputation of entire front legProduct Review:When our GS shattered her elbow joint, we desperately needed a harness due to quite a few stairs and narrow spaces in our home, requiring us to lift and move her about. It would take both my husband and I to lift her and, with him scheduled to deploy very soon, I needed something that would help me lift her on my own. This harness came in CLUTCH with helping our GS move about the home both the days before and after her surgery. While she’s still quite heavy, I am now able to lift her up and down the approx 15 stairs to our bedroom by using the longer straps on my shoulder while also holding onto the back handle. When it was finally time for surgery, we brought her in with the harness. The ortho vet was surprised because it looked nearly identical to the ones they use post-op. They said it was nearly perfect other than being a bit large on her. But they said it was fine since we don’t plan on keeping her in it all day every day.Additional notes:PROS- the harness seems sturdy and secure. I like that it a full body harness and the clips, while being plastic, are large and thick. Also, in order to adjust the size of the straps, it requires a lot of maneuvering because it has a double wound safety feature.- Easy to put on her. Doesn’t require us to lift any legs which was important- We needed full body support. Many on the market are focused on back legs and/or walking, rather than lifting a large dog. I loved that this one in particular has a wider front chest band that’s well padded. Also, the leg holes are large enough and padded so it won’t come in contact/irritate her very large incision site.- It doesn’t impact her ability to go to the bathroom. I read from some buyers that if you have a male dog, it could be an issue but our female dog has no problem.CONS (similar to other reviewers)- our GS is typically an XL to XXXL in everything else in life so I was surprised to see this XL harness being a bit too big on her. I’d advise sizing down from what you would usually order- the hand strap (not the shoulder strap) isn’t particularly comfortable. Honestly, that seems like the least durable part of the entire harness. I just added one of those Velcro wrap around grips from one of our duffle bags around the house to make it a bit more comfortable.

  9. Client d’Amazon
