Perfect Solution
I wasn’t sure if this would do the trick. The built-in lock on the screen door outside my bedroom’s sliding glass door doesn’t latch, so I needed something to keep my cat from pulling the door open. We just adopted 2 kittens that are definitely NOT allowed outside, but our adult cat, Larry, knows how to open the screen door, so he was letting the kittens out. I don’t like letting Larry out either, but when we’re home, we’ve found that he will hang out on the deck or where we can see him from the door. We adopted Larry after he was abandoned in our neighborhood, so he’s a real homebody.On nice days when I want to leave the sliding glass door open while I’m at work, but Larry kept opening the screen door, so I needed something sturdy enough to keep Larry from opening the door, and this latch was perfect. It’s sturdy, the adhesive stays stuck (make sure you give it 24 hours to set before pulling on it), and best of all, latching and unlatching is VERY quick and easy. It’s perfect for what I needed.

One year later and it’s going strong, but large bold dogs can push through
You install it by affixing the receiving latch to the outer frame and the part with the cloth strap and hooked end to the door. The strap is adjustable to a very small opening to a fairly large opening.It works well, but unfortunately one of our dogs figured out that if she just puts her weight in hard enough, it’ll pop right open. Pigheaded or just very smart dogs of the right size can likely replicate this. My cat can *very rarely* also manage to pop it open if he comes running in and hits the door trying to slip through the opening, so that’s another thing to keep in mind.This issue is probably fixable by affixing lower on the door, but the adhesive is insanely strong and isn’t worth removing at this point.Overall, if you have an only somewhat motivated dog you need to keep out of a room, this should work just fine. There’s nothing wrong with it, but cloth and plastic can’t do much against 100lbs of canine.

Well made and effective, even with Amstaff
This was very easy to install. I wanted it for the French door to the lanai so that the cat could enjoy “chatting” with her bird friends. I cleaned both surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. After a quick peel-and-stick, I left the two sides for 24 hours. After that, I started using it daily. I installed it at our (60 pound) American Staffordshire Terrier’s eye level, and he didn’t try to get past it. However, he DID hit the door pretty hard to run out once (squirrel) and the hook popped free but NOTHING broke. After that, I purchased another for our vacation cabin. Great product.

Bought 2 more of these because the first one worked so well! We wanted to have a way for our cats to enter/exit a room while restricting access for our dog. These straps work a treat! Easy to install, easy to open and close the door (just flick the hook).
