How do you take your lovely pet’s blood pressure?
1. The cuff should be placed at the same horizontal position as the animal’s heart.
2.The left limb, and the right limb can be measured.
3.Use an appropriately sized cuff for the animal to ensure that the markings are properly located above the appropriate artery. Be sure that the cuff is not wrapped around the limb too tightly, otherwise it may cause discoloration or even ischemia of the distal limb.
4. The cuff must be completely wrapped around the limb, otherwise choose the appropriate size cuff.
5. When the animal is a small animal, select the small cuff mode.
If the blood pressure monitor does not sit flush with your pet’s heart, try the following correction.
1.If the cuff is above the horizontal position of the heart, each centimeter of difference should be Add 0.75 MMHG (0.10 KPA) to the displayed value.
2.If the cuff is is lower than the heart level, each centimeter of difference should be added to the displayed value minus 0.75 MMHG (0.10 KPA) per centimeter of difference.

Steep learning curve but it works
This product was recommended by my vet, for monitoring my cat’s blood pressure at home. He told me to get a series of several readings to confirm accuracy, and that was a very good suggestion. Even the smallest movement can mess up the reading, as can taking a reading too soon after the previous one.I found this worked best on a kitty happily snoozing on the sofa, lying on his side. I petted him around the chin to help get him nice and relaxed, and then gently slipped on the cuff. Keep petting while you hit the “on” button. The device takes a good couple of minutes to get its measurement, and this was the only way to keep my cat still for that long. Don’t try to use this on a fully awake cat, it’s impossible. The readings I ultimately got this way were very consistent and physiologically believable (150s/80s). When he was awake and squirmy I got readings like 200/110.Update: Just 4 months later, the device no longer works. It takes forever to get a reading and fails about half the time. The other half of the time, the readings are all over the map and just aren’t believable. I checked everything: batteries, connection, looking for holes in the cuff where my cats tried to bite it, etc. Between this and the unreasonably long time required to get a reading, I really can’t recommend this product – though I’m not sure if any other product is better.Second update: I gave up on the first device and bought another. This one didn’t work out of the box. Just keeps bouncing up and down for several minutes, going to ludicrous levels like 250 systolic that severely annoyed my cats, then comes up with a nonsensical reading e.g. 92/42 or 155/120 (yes, got both of those on the same cat). I haven’t changed what I did when the first monitor I bought was working ok, and followed the instructions exactly. I also tried it on two cats, one hypertensive, the other normotensive. Both were nice enough to sit still for a couple of readings, and both times it came back with complete nonsense. I now question whether the readings I thought I was getting initially meant anything.I wish I knew if there is a home product capable of getting blood pressure readings on a cat, only that this for certain is not it.DO NOT BUY unless the manufacturer can provide an explanation and more information on how this could be made to work.

My vets office approved it
My senior chihuahua does not do well at the vets office. His anxiety skyrockets so they can’t get a reading on his blood pressure. So they recommended it get an at home one to help them out. Found this one that was perfect in price, great reviews and had several sizes so I knew one would fit.Simple to set and use. After a few days at home, I took it to my vets office and they actually impressed with its functionality and record keeping that they said they tell the Dr so it could be recommended to other fur parents.It will notify you after 100 saved recording that it’s full, but all you have to do it reset and done.A great purchase.

Product did not work – Buyer Beware
We were never able to get any of the cuffs to inflate. Ever. Which tells me that Amazon likely allowed a broken product to be sold.I returned the monitor.If you are considering purchasing this product, I really hope you donât get the one that I sent back. When I returned it to Amazon, they didnât give me any information that they would mark it as faulty.

Takes 5 minutes to get a reading
Works but frustrating that it takes 5 minutes to get a reading or sometimes I have to do it twice. My vet recommended this one so thatâs the only reason I got it. Wish it worked faster. Also they said this machine shows higher readings then theirs

Works for my pup
I needed a blood pressure cuff for my senior dog as she now suffers from high blood pressure and it needs to be checked more frequently. I bought this based on a link from the vet. It is working for its purpose. However 1) The picture shows a cat in the picture. – given the smallest cuff that comes with it is almost too big for my 28 lb dog such that I have to be careful how I wrap the cuff, I am a sceptic about how well it would work on smaller animals. 2) It takes some time to measure the blood pressure and my very mellow-I can do anything pup does take issues with the cuff – it might be the sizing issue mentioned before. The vet suggested I measure the bp twice to allow my pup to get used to it and that helps – glad she is not a youngster 3) The print on the instructions leave much to be desired for readability given the small font and thin paper. I went online to see if I could pull up a PDF of the instructions and could not find a complete copy. The instructions say to read them completely good luck with that – I even tried magnifying glasses. 4) The cuff arrived used even though I bought it as new from amazon – it must of been returned but not checked over; .there was some long fine hair in the Velcro on the cuff from another animal – my pup has straight course hair! And, the batteries were installed and there were measurements in the machine’s memory from what I would assume a prior user. All said, I kept it because as my dog started on bp meds her bp needed to be checked on frequently. And, the cuff arrived within 1-2 days of my order which was important!

Works great
I love this blood pressure monitor I purchased for my two small dogs after the vet told me one of my dogs has high blood pressure. I bought the monitor because taking the dogs to the vet to measure their BP was extremely stressful to the dogs and consequently the readings at the vet were not accurate numbers. I measure my dogâs blood pressure everyday when they are calm. I just slip on the small cuff on the left front paw right above the first joint and it gives me a perfect reading. I send the results every week to the vet and this way the dogs are happy, we get accurate reading to figure out the dosage of medicine to administer and I donât have to pay the vet for weekly visits for measuring BP. Itâs a fairly easy machine to use and there are plenty of YouTube videos to study. I highly recommend this machine.

A little hard to measure my little pomeranian blood pressure, because his legs are so tiny. But, very easy to use on my little shepherd mix and golden retriever. Just make sure to wrap it around their legs tight. It shows the normal blood pressure range, if not normal, reading will be red, very easy to use. Worked for my purpose.
