Impressively/Oppressively tall – probably more gate than we needed
We DON’T have a cat, so I really don’t think we needed a gate this tall, nevermind one with an extension on the top. Although, as a family of tall people, that extension was a no-go anyways as none of us liked the idea of having to talk through the door-mounted bars if two people were on different sides of the gate. Also, while our two malamutes ARE escape artists, a 69″ gate is still WAY more than they can manage in any vertical leap. So yeah, the only people feeling the psychologically imposing effects of this gate are the people and it’s honestly a little uncomfortable. That said, there are more pressing issues to be addressed considering this is a super tall pressure mounted gate. But first the upside…1. It’s at least 27 inches tall. Any shorter than 27 inches and almost inevitably you’ll get that one person who tries to step over it only to have their backfoot catch on the top sending them toppling to the floor and potentially taking the gate with it. Obviously no one will try THAT with a gate this tall (except cats).2. It’s screw-mounted. It might seem tempting to go for a security gate “that won’t damage our walls” by having to make screwholes for the mounting process, but let me tell you adhesive mount pads are always a BAD choice. They never hold for long and they’re more likely to rip off from the wall under small amounts of horizontal pressure resulting in paint/plaster/drywall getting pulled away by the adhesive. A few drill holes you can fill with wood putty and repaint for a screw-in wall mount that will hold firm is a solid trade-off.3. Easy to open with one hand. The latch on this is VERY easy to operate with one hand, making a great choice for anyone putting this in an entryway when you might have a bundle of groceries or a kiddo in your arm. That said, if you’re trying to use this to contain a 4-6-year-old you might find the door is actually TOO easy to open. They might be able to reach the top of the gate and with the lock being opened by a VERY easy to hit button, there is the potential that this might by easy for them to get through. For toddlers and big dogs, however, not much risk of that. The biggest downside of a pressure mounted door is that unlike a retractable gate this never really folds out of the way and any lateral pressure against the gate puts stress on the four mounting points that likely will lead to the brittle plastic pieces found there breaking as the metal bolts flex against them. Even propped open, you do still have to remember to mind the bottom metal bar of the frame and step over it. You get used to it quickly, but if you’re anything like us, on those busier days when you’ve got 10 tasks on your mind, it’s not uncommon to forget and stub your toe.***Height of the gate is a liability not an asset***Also, the added height here means that when the gate is open, and the pressure of the upper two mounts is compromised, this gate is far more vulnerable to torque from lateral pressure damaging the gate and knocking it out of it’s mount sockets. At which point its 69″ height is a liability not a feature.***Overall Value***Unless you a cat you’re really, really desperate to contain this gate is overkill. Considering it’s $190 (at the time of review) it’s worth reconsidering whether it’s really the best answer.

Extra Tall gate
This is a really tall gate, even bigger than me! The extra piece at the top is nice if you have cats that might jump over. It’s pretty heavy and feels durable. It is easy to use.

Tall baby gate
Very nice gate. Came with a tool to help tighten the the tension which was nice cause not everyone’s hands are strong enough to hand tighten. I got this gate cause I figure it tall so my toddler won’t be able to reach and get into my bedroom. But again I was wrong. He opened it in like a minute. So the locking mechanism isn’t challenging enough. But it was easy to install keeps the dog safe from the toddler.

Sturdy, high quality pet/child gate
Very pleased with this pet gate, I had to order something to keep my kitten away from our back doorway (we use that door quite often and it’s through our laundry area without a door on it), this is just perfect for our needs. We are using it with the pressure bolts instead of drilling it into the wall but I’m glad that you can have both options. We’re also using it without the top extender for now, it seems to deter her so far.The gate was packaged well, the metal is heavy and sturdy and the paint seems done well enough to take some knocks. I had no problem setting it up myself (older female), directions were adequate, everything fit together easily. The latch is easy to use and stays tightly shut, too.Be aware that it does tend to slam shut behind you, it has banged my arm a few times. It can stay open, too but unless you open it all the way it closes on its own.I do wish the “doorway” opening could be a little wider. I understand they have to make it sturdy so there are a few inches either side of it that don’t open. Just note the size of the opening, it’s only 21″. The bar at the bottom can be a hazard and there is a little ramp thing to aid you but it doesnât fit the height of the bar so I still worry about tripping. Please note that you must not clip the zip tie near the handle until installation! It will snap open and you will need to use another zip tie to hold it together to install it. I made this mistake because we were testing the mechanism in order to decide which way to install it. I would ensure you have additional zip ties if you need to remove or move it.Last, as the metal tubes are hollow they clang and make a decent amount of noise. You have to very deliberately close it quietly. See my video.I would recommend this, though it may not be ideal for everyone in every situation.

Best gate for cats …
This is absolutely going to keep your cats secure and I have even successfully used this one to keep a bird away from other pets while pet sitting. It is a bit more of an eyesore than a regular gate, but it is effective. I like that I can change it out since you can secure this in the door frame without permanent installation, but that is an option if you will be using it regularly. You can also remove the top piece if needed or desired, too though, but sometimes I just need a short gate so, I am grateful to be able to switch it out as needed. This gate is made to last and thoughtfully designed to provide the best protection as possible to secure fur babies where they need to be in the home.
