Whoever designed this is a genius!
We have a small dog (17 pounds) who has been peeing on the carpet in our basement, and we’ve struggled to keep her out because that’s where we keep our cats’ litter boxes. After getting the carpet replaced, I resolved to find a solution. I considered installing one of those kitty cutouts in the door, but we are moving soon. I looked at numerous temporary solutions, but most of them were either too complicated or too expensive. Then I stumbled onto this little device. I honestly did not think it would work, and I almost didn’t order it, but the price was right, so I figured I’d give it a try.Wow! The moment I took it out, I was blown away by the latch’s simple, genius design. It takes five seconds to “install,” and it keeps the door open just enough for cats to slip through and dogs to stay out. The sturdy plastic is slightly flexible, so it stretches just a little, but it also holds its shape so that the door won’t ever close. Latching and unlatching is a breeze, too, for both kids and adults. I can easily do it with one hand while I’m carrying laundry. I was a little worried that our dog would be able to fit through, since she’s practically the same size as our cats. Nope! All seventeen pounds of her stays decidedly outside—no more pee on the carpet!!I seriously haven’t been this impressed with a purchase in a long, long time. It’s simple, cheap, easy to use, and effective. Whoever came up with this latch is a literal genius.

    Highly recommend!
I recently purchased the FlexLatch Cat Door Holder in the XL size, and I couldn’t be happier with its performance. This product works exceptionally well and is incredibly durable. One of the standout features for me is the generous 5-inch opening it leaves for my cats to easily pass through. It’s just the right size to accommodate them comfortably. Plus, it fits my door perfectly, ensuring a secure and stable hold. The best part is how it effortlessly thwarts any attempts to close the door. If you try to shut the door, the FlexLatch Cat Door Holder promptly opens it back up, sparing you the hassle of constantly adjusting it.I’ve found this cat door holder to be a lifesaver when it comes to keeping babies or other curious pets out of certain areas, like the litter boxes or rooms that should remain off-limits. And the convenience factor is a major plus – it’s incredibly easy to undo when you need access to the room. All in all, the FlexLatch Cat Door Holder has proven to be an excellent addition to my home, offering both security and convenience. If you’re looking for a reliable solution to manage your pet’s/baby’s access to different areas, I highly recommend giving it a try.

    So simple yet so effective
I recommend this to everyone with dogs & cats! It’s excellent to keep obsessive dogs out of litter or cat food. My dog (pitbull/boxer mix) was a litter fiend & this was the only solution that wasn’t incredibly inconvenient for the humans but still actually worked. I recommend just getting the XL unless your cat is literally tiny; my roommates 10lb (somewhat round) cat couldn’t fit through anything smaller than that.I’ve ordered 2 of these now and will continue to order more if the future need ever presents itself. I recommend these to all of my friends. Super simple yet effective product, no commitment of damaging doors, very renter friendly. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best.

Simple. Effective. Durable. What more do u need?
So easy and so effective. My picture shows how wide open the door is using this….you can see my frenchies ears looking at the cat taunting him from just inside the door. This looks like it will work forever. Simple. Great invention.

Fantastic product! Keeps my big dog out and cat has easy access to the room with her food and cat box.I have the XL, for a small cat and a golden retriever. So easy to use, no damage or installation. Just hang it on the doorknob. Whoever thought of this is a genius!

Perfect solution to “kitty wants in” problem
My problem wasn’t keeping a big dog out while allowing the kitty in. We have 2 cats. Luna is our old and tiny cat, 11 year old female, under 7 lbs, but rules the roost. Our new addition Scooby is a huge, male, young, and although extremely gentle and mellow, he’s very active and gets into trouble. Bottom line, I don’t want him in the bedroom. He has complete access to the rest of the house, but not the bedroom. So what I needed is a latch that allowed my old skinny lady access, but kept the other cat out. The opening is supposed to be 4” but it measured more like 4 1/2’ and could possibly flex out to 4 3/4. I thought this might allow a determined young and very strong cat to shove his girth through. So I added some self-stick molding guaze (like you use on animals that doesn’t stick to fur) and wrapped it around my doorknob base. This allowed me to shorten the opening to around 3 3/.4” which was perfect. My skinny cat goes through like there are no barriers, and the big guy can’t even stick his head in unless he sticks it sideways. Perfect. Now, we leave the latch on all day. When she wants into the bedroom she usually sits and yowls at the door until someone lets her in. When she wants back out, she claws at the door until someone hears her. Now she has complete access and no one has to get up and let her in/out. This works very well. It’s been thoughtfully designed by someone who clearly understands the issue. It keeps the door open that tiny amount so it’s can’t slam shut on a cat coming or going. It’s vey sturdy. At the same time, it’s very simple to open and close the door (for human use) as it’s designed in such a way that one finger is all it takes. Brilliant. This would also be perfect for those who are living in rentals since absolutely no damage is done to the door, also great for folks not mechanically talented and prefer not to start a project of cutting in a kitty door. This is for indoor use only since it is designed to be accessible from either side so will not have your door secured as you’d need to do for an outside door. Luna gives it 5 stars. Scooby is still pouting.

Just what I needed. Keeps the dogs out of the rooms I don’t want them in. I will be ordering more.

I love this product. Have purchased a second one. Allows air flow into my bedrooms plus access for the cats while keeping the dogs out. This is a great idea.

I purchased two of these FlexLatches to use while I am looking after some pups in my home. The cats are safe and can easily retreat if they want to and the dogs are happy. Easy to use and great quality.

The only thing I don’t like about this product is the price – a simple piece of plastic with a piece of metal – but well worth it for how easy it is to install. I purchased this latch to keep my puppy (41 lbs Goldendoodle and growing) from chasing the cats and this product has returned peace to my house. Other systems/methods like a baby gate with a small animal door, and strap restraints allowed my dog to get after the cats when used in isolation – this strap is effective alone. I highly recommend this product and wish I purchased them sooner!
