    It works for dwarf goats
I have a Nigerian dwarf goat named Gonzo. Gonzo, true to his name, is an unhinged chaotic gremlin who managed to permanently injure his rear leg trying (and failing) to pull off a Sick Stunt. Since then, any time I try to trim his hooves makes him panic and causes him a lot of distress and discomfort if he has to put any weight on that bad leg.So I went looking for solutions, and I found this. Gonzo was clearly much more comfortable during his hoof trim, and the adjustability of the sling allowed me to fit him around him snugly. It feels very sturdy as well. I’m grateful to have found something to help me make Gonzo’s life a little better.

    Runs large, shoulder strap uncomfortable
Size down runs big! I purchased an x-large for my standard goldendoodle as recommended using the sizing chart. For reference by dog is 53.5 lbs. If you purchase this product make sure the fit is snug or else you’ll have issues as I found out after her surgery and will describe further. The material around the torso is too long causing a significant gap as I lift her off the floor and the 2 middle velcro straps around the torso can’t be adjusted snuggly to compensate for the sling being too big. She had knee surgery. For 8 weeks she needs to go for walks using the sling and is not able to climb steps. The sling is comfortable for my dog and is very sturdy and made of quality materials. The short straps are good for 2 people to lift the dog but are too short to use for walking the dog. The longer shoulder straps are good for lifting the dog by myself however I am glad she doesn’t weigh more since it’s really hard to climb steps and the strap is not comfortable due to the buckle even with the padding but its tolerable. Now that she is able to put her foot down slightly I set up 2 ramps resting on a block to make an extra long ramp so the incline is gradual to go in and out of the house so I don’t have to keep lifting her up the 3 steps. It’s awkward holding the shoulder strap walking the dog since the strap is too long not sure if due to needing to size down. I don’t want to adjust the shoulder straps just for walks since it’s at the right length for when I have to lift her over the indoor steps. I have decided to purchase another short ramp for the indoor steps. What I really like about this product is if you have a heavy dog having 2 short handles for 2 people to lift the dog will come in handy. In addition, I like the support straps that go around the dogs legs providing excellent support for when she was in a lot of initial discomfort post surgery. I did cut off the hinde leg straps since I felt they were no longer necessary and 8 straps were a lot of strapping and unstrapping many times a day. FYI I would recommend a ramp for your vehicle since getting in and out is difficult when the dog can’t climb in on its own. Also if you can practice prior to surgery lifting the dog in the sling and using treats to progressively lure the dog onto a ramp.

When you have a big dog that cannot walk this sling works really well
I have a 110 lb great Pyrenees/Shepard mix. He’s got a torn hind CCL and will be having the TPOL surgery soon. When he tore his CCL he also injured his other leg making himself unable to walk for a few days, I ended up purchasing this Sling and a Mobility Harness (I was going to need it after the surgery anyway) and I really believe you need to consider both if you have a big dog.I can pick up my dog without the sling, it’s awkward, and nowhere near easy. Carrying him to the yard for potty breaks or back to his lounging area (my office) was difficult to do with out this sling. I tried to drag him on a blanket, use a towel to assist his walking, but his injury really just made that painful. So I got the sling.I acclimated him to it by putting it in his sleeping area I’d rest it over/under him, then I’d wrap him in it for a bit. He basically got used to it. Then after about 3 days I picked him up in it. It’s pretty easy to slide under a big dog even if they cannot move on their own. The connectors can be operated with one hand (huge plus) My biggest problem was my dog thought it was play time and squirmed to play. This sling distributes the weight across the entire underside of the dog. This is awesome. The mobility harness I have also has a sling like feature, BUT the weight distribution is on the hip and shoulder joints via straps. So I see these as two different tools for two different jobs. Sling = Need to carry and move a dog that cant walk: Mobility Harness = Need to assist and guide dog that can partially walkThis sling also has 2 straps AND side handles. Why this is important: 1) The 2 carry straps can be used together on one persons shoulders OR 2 people can share the load with each taking a strap 2) The side handles allow you to distribute weight with you arms in addition to your shoulder. When your dog is 110 lbs you will appreciate this feature. My wife cannot pick up our dog with this strap alone, BUT she and my son together can lift and carry our dog. I have carried my dog about 40 yards in this and he did great with it. It 100% beats picking him up without anything.I don’t think for a large dog this sling makes a good mobility harness which is why I say consider both. For a dog to walk using this as an aided assistance tool, the weight distribution is at the center as opposed to the injured area (Elbow/Knee) of the Dog. You support the whole dog with this as opposed to allowing them to put weight on the uninjured area. I think that’s important so you can assess the degree of mobility while they are healing. Also the dog using the restroom in it has your dog in an unnatural position because you’re supporting via their midpoint preventing them from squatting. With a mobility harness you can support 2 points of weight distribution (Shoulder and hip) So squatting is supported.Hope this helps a little. All the best to you and your dog(s)

    Big is Still Big!
I have a seventy- five pound pitty that has spinal damage and falls all the time. I’m older so I’m concerned that he will fall into me and we’ll both take a header. This harness is easy to put on and serves its purpose. We can both walk without falling. The fit could be better. First, the sling part could be heavier. The straps on the center piece are too big. It would be great if they were expandable. Even at 75 lb. they are too wide for my dog however, if I got a smaller size I don’t think the length would work . The hole for his penis is way too small so it does get sprayed upon; regular washing needed. All in all the harness works but a 75 pound dog is still 75 pounds and difficult to walk. A younger, stronger person would probably find it easier to use.

My dog has a load of stairs to climb and after major spinal surgery, I needed to carry him up and down and still feel safe myself. This sling came in handy for stairs and transporting as it gave me both arms and hands to use for support. It is ergonomic and adjusts to fit plus it buckles for pet safety. My dog weighs 26lbs and I had no problems.
