Made w fiberglass rods that stay exposed!
I was really excited to get this extra-large pet bed/dog house. With six cats and a dog, I knew it would always be occupied. Unfortunately, the listing leaves out some important details.First, you have to assemble it, which isnât necessarily a problem. However, it uses FIBERGLASS rods for structure, and they even include gloves for assemblyâprobably because of the fiberglass. It very clearly states to wear your gloves when you assemble. The problem to me is the fact that as a human, I would need to wear gloves to assemble something that Iâm going to give to my animals.The instructions themselves were confusing, especially since some rods are nearly the same length when you take them out of the labeled bags and add the connectors, making it hard to tell which way theyâre supposed to go. Even after figuring that out, you need two people to pull the outer shell over and zip it up.The biggest issue is that even after assembly, there are exposed fiberglass rods. They are not covered on the inside. If you have a pet that chews on things, this could be extremely dangerous. A dog or cat chewing on these rods could easily end up in the vet or worse.On top of that, the connectors where the rods meet are weak. My cats immediately jumped on top of the house (because thatâs what cats do), and one of the rods snapped at the connector. Another broke when we were trying to put the shell on because the fit is so tight.I will say that the size is good, and the soft material is nice, but the fiberglass construction and exposed rods make this a no-go for me. I went back to the listing because I couldnât believe that I missed this fact and itâs not listed.I canât recommend this to pet parents at all.
