    Sturdy versatile carrier
I have a 14 pound rescue cat and he was so uncomfortable in the small hard plastic carrier I’ve been using for years for my other (small) cats, I wanted to get him something that allowed him to stretch out. He can stand up fully in it and lie down comfortably. It looks nice (blue with black screens) and appears sturdy. He can look out of three sides and the top so he can see me; it cuts down on the screaming. 😹 At one point I had three tiny cats (6-7 pounds) who slept in a pile and it would have been Purrfect for them.It has a thin “sheep skin” bottom that is removable. I put a pee pad (small with just enough to tuck under) and a polar fleece pad in it for comfort and in case of accidents.I put it out in the living room so he would get used to it. He doesn’t really go in it but he’s not afraid of it and rubs against it frequently. My 7 pound kitty thinks it’s her new condo. Now I have ONE MORE cat thing to step around. 😻I had someone else set it up for me; I’m not sure I would have the strength to do it. It’s not a problem for me as I have room to store it assembled. The zippers seem to work well; I hope they hold up.The handles are easy and comfortable to hold. I don’t think I’d use the shoulder strap even though it looks sturdy because I think with the size of it and his weight inside it would be too awkward.I like there are places where a seat belt can be attached. None of my other carriers had that feature. It has a small pocket with a Velcro close in case you want to put papers of some sort in there. It might hold a small pill bottle or two but not much else. It’s REALLY hard to get crazy boy both in and out (at the vet) of a carrier. I love you can load from the front, side and especially the top. I anticipate his next vet visit will be much easier for both of us.The price was reasonable for the product. I’m glad I got it.

I’m happy with the purchase. Two fat cats fit. I’d rate 4.5
Okay, only one of them is a fat fat at almost 20lbs. The other comes in around 12.Fabric and construction appear to be good quantity. If I come back here ranting, you’ll know something failed quickly. Our usage is a cross country move. We have an extra long container for them with food and cat litter to fit the back of our car, but we wanted another to travel to the hotel room. A double helps for the few hotels that set a random limit that is problematic or charge $100 for each pet because the pet isn’t done by $100 more worth of anything for a single night passing through and of course there’s little if any competition among hotels that take cats so we don’t really have options. The metal frame reinforcement seems sturdy but it is TOUGH to connect. I’m not weak but I struggled a bit. Once together, it held the two cats with no issue for the trip to the vet.The bag collapses down nicely so we can pack it away until it’s time to transfer the cats. I don’t look forward to assembling every night on our 7 day trip, but I’d prefer it not fail. I can think of a few methods that would be an easier assembly but it works and that’s what matters to me.***update 9/21/2023 – post cross country move***This was used to transport our cats from their “houses” in the back of my vehicle to the hotel rooms. It worked great and the setup became easier as the connections were used. The first setup I struggled but the last set up was extremely easy getting the metal bars to connect. We did have one metal link spring apart on the strap, but I think that’s because I’m strong and it got stuck on something. I was able to bend it back in place. That was the only issue I had and this thing was amazing for transporting the heavy cats.

Way bigger than I thought it’d be
I have 2 cats, Finn & Jake. Both are on the small side but Finn is very, very long. I’ve had a hardshell carrier & a soft carrier for years that worked well with some of my late pets. In theory they’d be fine with these two but not in practice. Finn is too long for the soft carrier & really freaks out in the hard one. Jake freaks out in the soft case.I wanted 2 things in a new carrier: a soft case big enough for Finn & one that I could fold up & put away. I have a super tiny apartment so every inch counts.Finding anything like that proved to be harder than I thought. This case is HUGE. I can easily get both cats in it, with room to spare so it is entirely overkill. However, many years ago I had a cat that was over 4′ long when he stretched out & weighed 20lbs w/o actually being fat. This would have been perfect for him!I haven’t taken the cats out in it yet. I had intended to return it given it’s size, but the moment I set it up, they had to be in it. It’s so covered in hair I didn’t think I could return it. The plus side is that i can easily use it for both cats simultaneously. Since I always take them to the vet together, this may be an advantage. Getting both of them back into it at the vet may prove to be a challenge so I’ll bring my other carriers just in case.I do have to schedule a vet visit soon so I’ll update the review when I do. I have some concerns about the mesh holding up to their claws. It has withstood all their play sessions in it so far, which is a good sign, but stressed cats are another thing. Finn hates being confined, he loves the car. Jake completely freaked out on the way home from the shelter. Badly enough that I was surprised he didn’t destroy the soft bag he was in. We’ll see how they do in this one. Given that it’s open on all sides & large enough for them to move around in, it may reduce both their stress levels.I’ve picked it up with them in it & they didn’t seem to sink or anything. The bottom has a removable pad for extra cushion. The cats enjoy sleeping on it.I love that they built in latches to make sure the zippers stay closed, especially since Finn is a genius-level escape artist. It’s also nice that the zippered areas can be rolled up & held in place with velcro straps. Given that this has become their playhouse, it’s a handy feature.I do wish they added in non-mesh covers to go over the top of the mesh covers so I can control what they see. The mesh is great for the car ride, but I have concerns about the case being so open at the vets office. I’ll definitely bring a towel to provide some cover. If I had a small dog, I could see using this as crate / bed & carrier. The bottom seems pretty sturdy and there is a soft pad for the bottom of it.

We bought this for our incredibly anxious 17lb long-haired male cat. He needs regular sanitary shaves, and getting him to the vet and/or groomer was a nightmare which resulted in many last-minute cancellations for about 7 months. During this time, we tried a half dozen other carriers of various styles and sizes and our poor anxious boy would pretty much panic every time we tried to put him in it, hissing, fighting, biting, peeing and scratching the entire time. Finally, we found this carrier and decided to try it based on the size. When it came in, we were very impressed at the construction and build. It was quick and easy to assemble and once put together is incredibly sturdy. We left it out in our living room with all three doors open for our four cats to get used to it. It was only a week or two before our anxious big man was lying inside just enjoying having a box he could sit in and quickly escape from through any of the three openings (top, bottom, and left side). Additionally, our two young kittens regularly use it as a jungle gym and playpen, jumping in, on and running through it while playing chase and it’s shown no signs of wear in the past 6 months. The 8-lb kittens also like to curl up inside it together, and still have plenty of room with both of them in it.Since then, we’ve gotten the big boy to the vet and groomer twice with success. The vets, groomers and vet techs comment each time they see it on how large, comfortable and sturdy it is compared to most carriers they see regularly. Thanks to the three separate openings, our vet was able to do his entire annual exam, with the small exception of weighing him, while he sat in the carrier feeling safe and secure. It’s been such a tremendous help in getting our boy proper vet and grooming care and I would highly recommend this carrier to anyone with a big, beefy cat, especially if they get anxious about travelling. He’s still not crazy about travelling, but this carrier gives him enough room to comfortably lay down, stand up, and turn around while also allowing him to see out all sides and feel safe. We were worried that after the first vet trip, he’d develop some sort of negative association with it, but both times that he’s gotten home from a trip, he’s voluntarily gone back inside within an hour because he still seems to consider it a safe space. It was only $115 CAD when we originally bought it, and I feel like it was an absolute steal at that price. If I ever see it drop below $150 again, I’ll likely scoop up a second because I suspect it will outlast all of our current cats.

Although I’ve not had to use this carrier yet it appears to be exactly the right size for an adult Maine Coon.My cat has sat in it without being spooked and has plenty of room. I’ve tried other carriers and this one is the best I have had for these large cats.
