It’ll be amazing when the software catches up to the hardware – a 3 star buy it today review.
Wow, I am really impressed with the quality of the video image, the human body form recognition, the ease of basic setup and provisioning of account services on iOS. The impressiveness starts to break down when it comes to control features in the Aura Home control app. Which, in defense of the GearIT folks, is not part of the equation they control.A quick tidbit about me… for the last 18 years I’ve been involved in the development of computer vision technologies for security, surveillance, identification and engagement. So when I happened upon a small form factor “surveillance” camera for under $25, I just had to check it out. And I’m impressed. But there are a couple of things you should know.Let’s run down the feature list.1) 2K resolution and Night Vision: An enthusiastic, out of the ballpark, homerun here. The image quality for such a small device at this price point is truly excellent. Combined with the active IR illumination, which indeed does reach out at least 20 feet in my in-home testing, is darn good.2) Motion Detection, Sound Detection and Human Body Detection, or filtering as the Aura Home app calls it. Yes, Yes, and Yes. The camera does indeed process the video stream it captures and analyzes it for certain elements. This includes general blob of pixels in motion, detection of a blob of pixels in motion that approximates a human silhouette, and detection of sound. For motion detection I employed Gregory as my assistant, Gregory is a 5-year-old 60lbs standard size poodle/lab mix staying with me. When Gregory came down the stairs tail wagging and had his black body silhouetted against a brightly lit sliding glass door to the outside world, it took about 10 seconds or so for the camera to detect the motion and a “Movement Detected” alert to appear in the Aura Home app on my cellphone. This was a little underwhelming. Gregory was 21′ from the camera and the camera was processing video in HD Mode, with the Alarm Sensitivity Level set to High.Human Body Filtering performed a bit better, not too terribly surprising since I am three times as tall… so I was a much larger blob of pixels to detect.3) Aura Home iOS App… install and account provisioning were very simple, as other reviewers have shown. Equally as simple was signing up for the cloud storage and replay service which is well priced.Connecting to the camera is less than quick, sometimes taking upwards of seven to 10 seconds, and the time delay in the “live video” is equally as long. The app has simple UI controls for taking screenshots and recording live video, and strangely without activating the “talk” or “call” feature has the mic on and delivering sound to the Aura Home app all the time (unless a cofig setting is turned to “private”).The app has three many screens. All three of them keep the live view video displayed, which in my view is a waste if that’s not your intent – why make me wait to see the live video if what I want to do is look at the event that happened yesterday?Presentation of the recorded Alerts is nice, and there is good meta data available as well as filtering based on Human Detection, Sound Detection or Motion Detection.4) Where it starts to get a bit weird… is that it feels like three different companies have tossed there tech together and allowed a fourth company to OEM the device under their own brand. Remember the Review started out talking about the GearIT Indoor Smart Camera. The camera’s basic UI controls and viewing of recorded video tales place in an application by the name of Aura Home, which has an entirely different UI style than the application that manages actual configuration parameters that are transferred to the camera of processing. That application has the look and feel of two other applications on my iPhone: XMcosy which came with a string of RGB outdoor lights and Smart Life, which came with some other home IOT device. It’s no wonder why the GEARit camera ships without a (real) manual, because it would require 3, I’m afraid. It’s also not surprising them why the Amazon product page proudly names this a “Indoor Pet Camera for Dogs”. Whaaaa?Nothing in the camera features or settings even closely references a feature optimized for a canine. The only possible feature perhaps being the Sound Detection feature (remember my testing companion Gregory is the size of a Standard Poodle and his coat is entirely black while he was standing against a stark white backdrop. One last company is unwittingly implicated in this patchwork quilt of surveillance camera; Amazon. When you switch from the Aura Home iOS application into the portion of the Aura Home application that is clearly delivered by another company, it still has a holiday christmas theme with a Christmas Stocking and a Wreath as UI control elements, it lists Alexa as a Third-Party Service and provides a link to download the “AuraHome Control” skill which includes directions to ask Alexa to display the camera and touts “Natural and Direct, Hands-Free, Double the Efficiency Device Control”. Oh balderdash. Try as I might, and I have 47 other devices and lights and sensors and locks and cameras and TV’s and speakers and towel warmers that are all controlled by Alexa… this one, you cannot. At least not yet. Hopefully that’ll come soon though, because at $25 each, I’m raising my voice and asking Alexa to order me two more.So there you have it.. a product with a 3 star review I think you should run out a buy today.

Fantastic Monitor with such clear imagry & sound!!!
This GearIt Baby Monitor with Camera & Audio Wi-Fi 2k Video is absolutley fantastic!! The picture quality is phonomonal, it’s so clear, as if your looking into the screen of an actual high-quality Cell Phone! The sound quality is exceptional, everything comes out so crisp and understandable, The sound quality is exceptional, from the monitor to device and from device to monitor the sound come out so crisp and understandable! I do have my monitor connected to my phone while also using the app for added features. The camera design is just as advertised, its beyond adorable and the swirlie part holds the camera in place perfectly! The app has alot of fun & useful features too, like setting meal alarms for set times of the day, playing lullabys, and cry detection! The only aspect that is a little bothersome, is that when my phone is close to the monitor, the devices make that loud screaching sound, (that electronics often make when to close to one another..such as with walkie talkies). Overall though alot of security systems make that screeching sound when their close, so not a big deal as its normal, just something to mention is all. A feature that I really appreciate, is that this actually comes with a really long charger cord and a good-quality charger head! The actual app you downlad, for this baby monitor, is called “AuraHome Control”, there is the QR Code you can scan for that app in the dirrections, but, if you don’t have a way to scan the code then trying to find the app is a little confising because theres other apps that have almost idential spelling to this app, (on Google Play that is at least), so knowing this may come in handy! ð You also don’t need to figure out how to turn on buko permissions for this camera monitor to connect and work with the app from your smart device, which is a huge releif! This Baby Monitor is a great value, its legit worth every penny and more! Its quick & easy to use, beyond adorable, and very practical!

Clear picture with lots of functions.
I often take my granddaughter overnight so I wanted a baby monitor in the room with her since the bedroom she’ll be sleeping in is on the other side of the house. Don’t worry, my house is small. When this baby monitor came onto my Amazon Vine feed, I decided to order it and give it a try.Note: I have been invited by Amazon to take part in the Amazon Vine program & I take that very seriously.I order products I am interested in, try them out and give my honest review on that product.I am not paid in any way by Amazon or the sellers for my reviews.Since I am an Amazon customer as well, I provide as much detail as possible for other customers in order to help make an informed decision on the products. I do not recommend products I myself wouldn’t use.It was easy to set up. I plugged it in, downloaded the app, connected my phone to the wifi and it prompted me with a few things and I was connected. The picture quality is pretty clear and it offers several options. For instance, I have it set to detect crying, sound & motion.I didn’t try it but it plays music so it’ll sooth baby when it’s night night time. It’s very easy to use and offers a clear picture. As you can see, I took a pic of my dog Bella using the camera.I also took a screen shot of the functions it offers. Many functions and settings to appeal to any parent.I’m pretty happy with this baby monitor and definitely recommend.
