Its a little pricey, but worth every penny to usher
We travel back and forth from Montana to California frequently. We have two Boxer dogs and two cats. For several years we put the cats in a large carrier with sandbox in the back seat of my truck and the dogs in the bed with a camper shell. Last year the weather warmed up and we had to move the dogs into the cab of the truck on the second day of our journey which was nine hours of misery putting it mildly. This year we decided to take two vehicles and our large cat carriers would not fit in the second vehicle. So, we bought this carrier which would fit and was still large enough for cats with sandbox. Well made and easy to assemble, plus easy to fold up and store when not in use.

Our Dog Loves this Carrier
We have a Miniature Poodle weighing about 16 pounds. She doesn’t like traveling in the car unless she is in someone’s lap or she is in a cage or crate. Our wire, home crate is a little too large for easy car traveling, so we gave this crate a try. The result? Total success. She is perfectly happy to travel now, and the crate is easy enough for us to move that it is now her “upstairs” crate at home. This crate pops together in minutes, but is still reassuringly sturdy. We haven’t collapsed it since putting it together, but it looks to be just as easy as assembling the crate. The 27 inch size is great for smaller dogs to feel protected without being cramped. I think it would be too big for “toy” breeds, and certainly too small for “large” breeds.Well constructedEasy to assembleGood size for small to medium dogs

Crate rejected by airline when checking in
This crate does not meet airline standards, no matter what the statement said in the product description, it just wonât work for commercial airline at all. Description and images are very misleading. Amazon please pull your Andon cord!We tried to check in our dog on an Alaskan Airline flight, got rejected for the crate having two doors (back and front doors making it collapsible, deemed as unstable structure). And we had to rebook the flight next day. What a horrible nightmare when you tried to travel , never mention the extra expensive Uber pet rides to/from airport wasted.Crate itself is quality one. Very easy to collapse. Good for storage. Will work in all other use cases other than flight.

Easiest Crate to Travel With
Super quick setup yet far sturdier and more compact than the fabric travel kennels. Roughly the same interior dimensions as a non-collapsable kennel, yet with a smaller footprint.

Hinges rattle a lot
It’s a good carrier for a small dog or large cat. It’s nice that it can be collapsed for easier storage. It’s also easy to set up.The only issue I have is that the hinges and latch rattle a lot when the carrier is in the car, which can be distressing to the pet. I’m looking for some rubber washers or something similar to help keep that from happening.

Size is Matters
Received Cage. Looks like the sample. However I did not get the right size; needed something larger. Whatever you do please donât forget to measure. Gifted to a friend with a smaller dog. She loves it and so does her dog Adore.â¤ï¸ð¯

Best Pet Carrier I Have Ever Had
I am not the type that usually writes reviews. But I had to for this product. There were so many choices on Amazon, that it was hard to tell which one was going to be a good fit for our new kitty cat. I literally felt I was rolling the dice but I am so happy with my purchase. I have had pet carriers in the past that were cumbersome and really hard to carry around…even just moving them downstairs was a nightmare. This product is literally the best pet carrier I have ever seen. It folds easily, it’s super lightweight, and is very high quality. If anyone is looking for a QUALITY cat or dog carrier, I promise you will be very happy with this purchase. 5+ STARS!!!! It looks cool too 🙂

An air-cargo approved COLLAPSIBLE pet carrier – rare, but not for everyday
A lot of thought went into the design of this carrier. This is clearly a premium design. It’s not a floppy noodle barely held up by its end panels but actually able to handle the stacking and requirements of air cargo, something that normally requires a clamshell style noncollapsible design. There’s provision for tie downs, tow straps, and wheel sets for easy movement. The individual panels are all injection-molded high density plastic that feels like ABS. The comfort of the animal inside is also considered – where other collapsible carriers use thin ribs for rigidity, the Mirapet uses corrugations that don’t poke and jab. The piano hinges are large, pivot on the OUTSIDE of the panel and are hidden within thick housings that further strengthen each panel and keep pet hair from getting caught as the dog moves around. The door and door frame are quite beefy as well – larger diameter wire, a wide latch, and corner strikes to ensure alignment and low chance of escape. The door frame in this style of carrier is the primary load-carrying element for stacking, so it’s has to be beefy and latch solidly to the side, top, and bottom. It’s remarkably sturdy for a collapsible design, but there are still wiggles that creep in. The hard plastic makes for rattly travel, and it’s an unfortunate dark blue color. A small complaint, I know, but it’s dark inside and can get hot faster. This carrier is unusual in that it’s very space efficient. It’s fully rectangular and has no exterior beltline flange, so its outside dimensions are typically only 1/2″ – 3/4″ larger than its inside dimensions. Lengthwise the 26″ medium size is as long inside as a 28.5″ clamshell, with nothing to catch your pant leg on as you pass by.This is the main reason I decided to try it – if you have a tight space you need to fit the carrier into, this is one of the few that does fit but doesn’t compromise space for the animal.A caveat, though – the Mirapet is 3″-4″ inches narrower and about 1.5″ lower than a standard clamshell. To reduce height, It doesn’t have a raised floor with a peripheral moat to corral accidents and wet dog drippings. The top and bottom trays DO have 2.5″ high sides to keep liquids in, but whatever comfort pad you use will have to soak up whatever drips off your pet.The narrowness and lower height of the Mirapet is actually a good thing for travel – most clamshell carriers are fairly wide and tall for pet comfort when at home. If the crate is ever in an accident, a wide crate will allow your pet to slam around quite forcefully inside. A narrower crate that encourages the animal to lie along the length of the crate instead of curling crosswise limits the slamming. You’ll see this design philosophy in the competition-level pet carriers used by hunters and breeders.Although it’s possible to reverse the swing of the door – it’s hinged on the right – it’s tricky to do so. You can contact Mirapet for instructions, but it’s best to consider the doors non-reversible. In conversations with Mirapet, this was found to be necessary to make the end panels strong enough to withstand air-cargo stacking. Finally, although the carrier itself has ample ventilation, because its sides are vertical anything it’s placed next to – like a wall – will block that airflow. Other carriers have a slight inward angle to their sides that allows air to get in. But if that’s a serious worry you should invest in a door mount fan.Now – why, after all these generally positive comments, did I not give the Mirapet a 5 start rating? Mostly that the overall package feels like price, performance, and versatility aren’t well balanced. It is best suited for a specific purpose – air cargo travel requiring that the carrier collapse at either end of the journey. The collapsibility requires compromises in just about every other aspect, and the product costs significantly more than an air-cargo approved clamshell that weighs less and works just as well or better. This being said, I’d love for Mirapet to come out with a noncollapsing version of this design. There is a market for a space efficient carrier that isn’t as burly as the Ruffland and Gunner style competition crates of the world, and unlike those designs the Mirapet is actually not ugly. A noncollapsing Mirapet would be just as strong and in comparison to some of these super-carriers, better engineered.

So I received this item today. When I first put it together, I thought it was missing a door. I was bummed and left a negative seller feedback. Well, I looked again and the door is cleverly tucked to the roof. It fastens solidly so I didnât even see it. Good design! I went back to try to fix review but canât? No instructions on Amazon as to how to fix. Very happy with crate. Trying it out now!
